No excuses, we should be smashing that group. Even if we have to travel to fecking Kazakhstan.
I'd hope to avoid PSV & Feyenoord and Celtic & Rangers, played them before in recent years, and obviously we don't want long hauls to the furthest points in Eastern Europe such as Astana.Fingers crossed for either someone totally random we haven't played ever, or some "romantic" type ties
Nice. This is like one of those teen movies where the rich kid loses all of his spending money (missing out on CL) and is punished by having to go to the village (long ass trip to Kazakhstan), a dangerous place (the Serbian teams stadium), and a sporting complex that's about to collapse (AZ's roof being blown off).Alkmaar, that's a lot better for travel purposes although their stadium roof did blow off the other day...
The kids are starting our games...Easy group, just send the kids to Kazakhstan
Yeah, wasn't really expecting it to get interesting until the 3rd place teams from UCL get chucked in.So grim that our European adventure consists of that.
Absolutely disgusting.Group A: Sevilla, APOEL, Qarabag, Dudelange
Group B: Dynamo Kyiv, Kobenhavn, Malmo, Lugano
Group C: Basel, Krasnodor, Getafe, Trabzonspor
Group D: Sporting CP, PSV, Rosenborg, LASK
Group E: Lazio, Celtic, Rennes, Cluj
Group F: Arsenal, Frankfurt, Standard Liege, Vitoria SC
Group G: Porto, Young Boys, Feyenoord, Rangers
Group H: CSKA Moscow, Ludogorets, Espanyol, Ferencvaros
Group I: Wolfsburg, Gent, Saint Etienne, Olexandriya
Group J: Roma, Monchengladbach, Istanbul Basaksehir, Wolfsberg
Group K: Besiktas, Braga, Wolves, Slovan Bratislava
Group L: Man United, Astana, Partizan, AZ Alkmaar
They do have a quality attack in Alkmaar. Stengs and Boadu are expected to make their first appearance for the Netherlands somewhere this season, both very young, but promising. The rest of the team isn't very familiar to me..Both Alkmaar games should be relatively easy. Partizan and Astana at home too. Partizan away is a bit tricky with their atmosphere. Astana as well, i think they have a synthetic pitch and obviously long travel.
Key is always to win your home games and you're practically qualified. You should do that. Yes if you get Astana 5th or 6th team you can send the kids out there.Exactly. We should be winning every game in this group.
Need to wait to see who drops down from CL, remember Atletico Madrid in shock group stage exit and they won europa pretty comfortably in 2018. Sevilla also done it at least once. Some decent teams, but no reason we shouldn’t have a chance at winning this.
Just get a few members from here to answer some questions about Astana. I'm sure the funny ones like @SteveJ and @Mr Pigeon can whip something up.No English speaking forums for them so there won't be any Ask The Oppositions unless we have any Kazakhstani, Serbian or Dutch volunteers to go to their forums and do the translating. Don't think Astana even have a forum.
There's a ticketing thread at the top of the Newbie forum. Try posting there.Guys I'm from Belgrade, can I get a ticket to come with our fans or will I be forced to go with Partizan fans, I'm a Red Star fan since I was born so I'd rather not. Who do I enquire for the tickets on here?
Partizan are banned for first game so will be played in an empty stadiumGuys I'm from Belgrade, can I get a ticket to come with our fans or will I be forced to go with Partizan fans, I'm a Red Star fan since I was born so I'd rather not. Who do I enquire for the tickets on here?
Damn. I definitely don’t remember that.Need to wait to see who drops down from CL, remember Atletico Madrid in shock group stage exit and they won europa pretty comfortably in 2018. Sevilla also done it at least once.
