It is almost as though if they don't do the dances and elaborate goal celebrations or are constantly on social media they don't fit it. Some people just like keeping themselves to themselves. It doesn't mean they are arrogant monsters.
Very true, I mean Scholes pre retirement seemed like quite a reserved character.

A thing I read earlier was that he does keep himself to himself but he is really serious about his football, I mean I like the idea of a really harmonious team but I wouldn’t mind the idea of someone who is serious about his football. If he wasn’t affecting the others poorly by causing disharmony in the group I see no issue with him.

Same report happened to mention his best friend was Iker Muniain who was seen as the joker of Bilbao so seems some what like he would fit in.

He wasn't liked by the U21 coaches too, last month Sagnol who was his coach said that he doesn't think that he wanted to play for France that it felt like he was there for the prestige but didn't care about the team, he was always complaining about something and trying to not play. Now I'm not the biggest fan of Sagnol the coach, so....

I can see why he doesn't get along with Griezmann, I would just laugh at him when he does one of his silly fortnite dance moves again. He's so full of himself, it's unbelievable.

Maybe he is too mature for them.
I try to not to have this reactionary mindset of criticizing anyone who dares to dance on the pitch, many players do it including every player in the NFL etc.

Actually I think footballers are more reasonable most of the time because they don't do it when they score the single goal in a 1-5 defeat, whereas in the NFL the players don't give a feck about angry fans and just dance, even when their side is 40 points behind with 5 minutes left.

It is just that Griezmann is putting it on a whole new level, he had his silly trademark celebration long before fortnite even existed and he thinks he's the LeBron of football.

It's just a silly dance, Griezmann is a silly goose to begin with. He's always joking and laughing around, likes to make a fool of himself to make his teammates laugh. It doesn't have to be something more than just that.

He definitely is but for some reason he doesn’t get half the plaudits that VVD does.
Funnily enough his two shockingly shit games were quite big: Chelsea in the League Cup final (albeit playing with an injury and then subbed off), then against Spurs in the 1st leg of the CL-knockout game.

But league wise, I'm with you, quite amazed that he was never even in the conversation of being the best CB alongside VVD. Nice to see him being recognized by his peers though!

Alot of the reason for that is the press are all caught up in the Liverpool winning the league hysteria and that overrates VVD. I think next season when VAR comes in and Liverpool don't get as much 'good luck' then that will settle down.

I find it annoying that other big clubs apart from us make these type of signings and they are pretty much instant success buys, whereas nearly everybody we sign is a failure or a long term 'prospect' that never fulfills it. For example, You would think Bailly by now would be at the level Laporte is, but he has actually gone backwards if anything.

Aye, thing is, he was one of those players we were linked with constantly but you just felt we would never as much as even bid for him. It was apparent since his early Bilbao days that he was going to be a special player. He’s what, 24 and not even in his prime, City have got themselves a real gem here.

Re Liveroool: It’s a joke how desperate the media is for them to win the league and every tackle VVD makes seems to get an article these days. He’s good but made out to be far better than he actually is.

Very true. I feel like that with Joao Felix at the moment, he has the tools to be a truly special player in a few years and we are linked with him, But he will sign elsewhere and we will kick ourselves as to why we never went through with actually buying him. He has all the tools to actually prevent our serious lack of creativity, but hey different discussion I guess...

The Liverpool VVD thing can be comical at times. My social media feeds were flooded this past week with videos of VVD playing for Celtic against Barcelona making some tackles and hyping him up, all the while forgetting to mention Celtic conceded 6 in that game :D

Great performance considering the lunatic next to him (Kompany) was doing his best to lose the match.

Didnt have much to do at all. Other than 1 foul Kompany defended better and was on the ball more

Very good defender but just doesn’t have that ‘thing’ that defenders like Ramos, Van Dijk, Rio, or Vidic have.

Great defender. Unlucky to have a torrid game against Spurs in the CL. But he's had an excellent season, both defending and facilitating play. He's so good at splitting the lines.

Had a shocker against Spurs in the CL but is one of the reasons why there isn't much between Liverpool and City defensively wise.

Couple of bad games vs Spurs, I think he still has nightmares about Lucas if I'm honest. Been great on the whole though.

Isnt that why Deschamps doesn’t like him because he’s a ‘loner’.
What's the thing? I don't understand
Ramos

Anyway when you can't describe what you mean, that's a red flag.
What I mean is that players like Ramos, Stam and Vidic look(ed) like murdering machines. You didn't want to mess with them and you knew it before the match had even started.
Players like Van Dijk or Rio have some sort of elegance and "leadership". As a team you knew you could build on them and it made you feel/play better.
Sorry if i'm being vague but it's hard to explain. I think Laporte can become one of the best defenders in the world but he just doesn't have that extra thing that makes a great player special.

Nobody thought that VVD was special when he was 24 y.o. And it is precisely for this reason that VVD signed a 6-year contract with Soton when he was as old as Laporte is now.

It would be lovely to have someone like him coming out with the ball. He is a really good passer and a threat at set pieces as well.

£57m looks like an absolute bargain, he is 25 and yet to enter his prime. Fantastic CB, 2nd best to van Dijk in the PL.

The injury that will win Liverpool the title IMO. They're down to one fit CB and he's absolutely useless himself. Absolutely shocking that Pep chose not to sign a single CB despite losing Kompany and Otamendi being Otamendi.
