I’m not a talented footballer either but I will open my body in time if I have plan to take right foot shot. Funny a talented player like him ran straight chested into opponent in such a situation. Martial would have done a side footed finish there. Left foot smash like giggsy fa cup or side footed finish is standard there. What is ole coaching Rashford since ole himself was a good striker. Is it a case of Rashford being over coached on finishing that he fails to select required one in split seconds ?
Yeah something does feel really off. It could be a massive shame if he doesn’t fulfil what I would say is big potential. Would love to see if a Pep or Klopp could get something more from him.

Rashford has basically been made the Personification of the 'Ole Era'. The poster boy.

- Local lad.
- Academy product.
- Young.
- Plays in an attacking role.

So naturally, all eyes are on him to deliver and prove that this 'era' is one worth supporting. Now, he is no innocent bystander in all this - Rashford WANTED this; he chased big wages, he held the club at gunpoint and demanded bigger wages to prevent him 'going to Barcelona'. He clearly felt he was ready to bear this burden, so let's not feel sorry for him, yeah?

Anyone who has a gold chain made of their own fecking nickname to wear in public is not lacking in confidence, alright, so let's not paint him as some unfortunate victim here. He's not entirely to blame for this mess, but he is no innocent bystander either and is not delivering the goods.

That Rashford chance at 0-0 is really annoying me seeing it again. It was his lack of belief or fear of taking it with his left foot, meaning he was trying to slow it down, cut back to his right and then shoot. But even then, its stupid, cos hes ahead so all he has to do is cut across the defender which opens it up for his right foot (or mean the defender has to foul him).

Im not sure how he managed to do that. He tends to miss chances on that side whereas if it was the other side, im pretty certain hes taking a shot as it would be open for a right footed shot (eg how he scored vs Spurs last season).

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
The cynic in me is wondering if he was looking for the penalty.

I've not seen replays but at the time it almost looked like he ran ahead of the ball to draw a foul (or just had no control of the ball). He has a few options there: take the shot early, go across the defender, touch it back inside and let the defender go past. He did nothing, which makes me think he's paying more attention to the incoming defender and is waiting for a foul or is even scared of the tackle.

It was terrible whichever way you look at it.

Agreed with this. The club is deluded on a whole new level but lets not forget that our golden boy wanted this and now has to take a fair share of criticism.

Said it in the match thread, he's got all the physical tools to be a world class player, but his football IQ is sorely lacking. His decision making is abysmal, he's playing like an individual and not as a part of the team. I'm afraid his behavior on the pitch is only further strengthened and endorsed with the fact that he's one of Ole's favourites, his 'Rashy'.

At least he ended the discussion where his best position is himself. Not a number 9 in a million years.

Because he lacks ability. Severely.
There is hope for him, I remember say Sterling looked like a hype-job at one point - lacked direction, poor composure etc. But look at him now. There is a chance Rashford can improve and kick on to the next level but he needs better coaching and also, needs to improve his mentality a LOT for that to happen. He's very selfish and not a great team player.

I'd be tempted to play him against Rochdale if fit. Just to (hopefully) get him into some sort of form as surely he'd have a decent to good game here.

No one blaming the manager for individual player progression then? Interesting.

I forgot it was probably the same people that wanted Rashford up front 2 years ago.
Do you mean regression? Because, if so, this is the same Rashford we've known since his first full season. An inconsistent kid, basically.
Still not seeing how he’s going to be better than Harry Kane but maybe it’s just me.
Where's this coming from? We'd love it if Marcus could get anywhere near Kane's level.

"Tammy Abraham would never". What a moron thqat Twitter user i, I love Tammy but he makes lots of mistakes as most 21 year olds (inc Rashford) do.

Rashford was anticipating a slide tackle from Rice and it didn't come, that's it.
He was being unselfish and cutting back to wait for his teammates.

The 'no brain' criticism is nonsense. You can question his technique, but his football intelligence is very good.

It was his touch that let him down here.
And we slate Lukaku for his bad touch, by the way if it was Lukaku it would be a goal scoring chance, he is better dribbler than Rashford and better in making decision.

Why did Rashford start against Astana? We all know we have an injury problem with Martial, so why use Rashford to start 3 games in a space of a week? We had Greenwood in the game, we could have easily played him upfront and give time to the likes of Pereira and Mata.

It's clear that Rashford was exhausted against west ham and we don't even know how he got injured.

Ole thought he might get some form and backfired, pretty much like most his decisions since formally taking over

Looking over my shoulder.
When everyone is fit, why not play him on the right, James on the left and Martial in the middle? Rashford lacks composure, buy he csn go past a man with ease. Having two wingers with such pace as Rashford and James will terrify defenses. Play McTominay and Pogba ahead of Fred in a midfield three.

Isn't the chain thing more an indication of ego than confidence?
His performances remind me more and more of Depay's time with us...

He didn’t hold the club at gun point. The club gave Martial over 200k so what did people think Rashford was gonna get paid?

Yeah he's got an ego he hasn't remotely earned.
This came after he got moved into a central position and the media hyping him up. it is no surprise he hasn't even nailed down a place in the England team.

Come this summer England forwards could be Sancho, Sterling, Kane, Abraham, Rashford.

We have seen it over tournaments, the 5th choice doesn't get game time.

After his fantastic breakthrough season he clearly bought into the hype. His wannabe gangster gold chains, his selfishness on the pitch...its a shame. He has great potential but someone needs to bring him back to earth or he will never fullfill it.

The "Rashy"-gold chain is a sure sign of an inflated ego, which also manifests in his selfishness on the pitch.

Rashford needs to change his attitude, and I think this comes down with the people who he associates with.

I watched latest Andy Mitten video. He brought up Beanz Beanz Beanz. He wasn't impressed either. We done a spectactular job of not keeping his feet on the ground.

The fact that we are bringing this youth is all good but I feel it is having an affect on the team in the sense it feels like a party atmosphere between Pogba, Rash, Lingard etc who are meant to be the ones taking this team forward.

Rashford has to be very careful here, he could easily end up like Ravel Morrison if he isn't careful. It seems that he has a good head when he speaks to the media but someone has to get to him and say listen mate, you have not made it yet, you need to be scoring 20 goals a season.

I think Ole is cuddling him too much, excuse after excuse that he is not the finished article etc. He has been in this team for good 4 seasons now with role models like Zlatan and Rooney. He had the perfect environment to learn.

I'm as frustrated with him as much as anyone else, but I feel he's been let down by management more than anything. In a well defined system with a clear role and clear instructions he could be formidable. But it's obvious that left to his own devices he's an absolute liability. For all of Mourinho's faults, of which there were many, he knew how to get good performances out of Rashford, mainly by making him compete for his spot. One of the most damning indictments of Ole's reign for me is the allocation of responsibility to Rashford and letting Lukaku leave to facilitate that. It's a bigger issue than the midfield for me because without goals we are truly fecked.

He is let down by the management, but in all fairness to Ole he has been very fair to Rashford.

When he came in, he knows Rash wants to play top and gave him the opportunity, started well and then we all know what happened. Ole realised pre season Rash is a inside left, and Martial top and it looked like it works.

However; when Rashford is playing on his own without Pogba he looks a different player, completely unrecognisable. Up top he cannot hold the ball, doesnt bring people in and doesn't attack the ball.

I know people keep knocking the midfield but top get top 4 we don't need a world class midfield. We have Pogba, McT and Fred to get us through this season. Look at Liverpool's midfield 3 years ago was still dominating games and they had Hendo, Gini, Milner.

I see how you put 'Barcelona'. I never truly believed those links and even if they were true, I was willing to accept £100 million if they bid that as I could foresee another Dembele. They (Barcelona) have made some shocking transfers recently and Rashford would drown there. That said I think he just wanted parity with Martial which is fair as they have delivered the same numbers in their time there. He had every right to demand parity with Martial but it also meant the 2 of them have to step up this year, no excuses due to their age. If you want big boy wages you must deliver big boy performances

What does that mean? How do Physical attributes make you world class? He literally has pace and is not even the quickest at United.

They don't on their own obviously, hence why I said he's lacking football IQ.

Mofo's athletic, he's tall, pacey, fast, agile and so far hasn't been injury prone. Doesn't seem to have issues with endurance and can shoot. Those are some pretty important atributes for any athlete.

ok fair enough but we have plenty of "athletes" here in England and over in France. In fact its a running joke between me and my former house mate that anytime commentators describe black footballers they always say "he's an athlete isn't he?" like that's all there is to them or its surprising a professional sportsman is an athlete. Obviously I know that's not what you meant I am just stating that the modern day footballer has many of those attributes depending on position.
