The methodology was prime Messi, Xavi and Iniesta and now Messi is not the same Messi (Still better than most) and there are no Xavi or Iniesta to bail them out. They also have been spending big amounts but are flattering to deceive. Would be interesting to see what happens once Messi leaves.
The Methodology was The Position Game. Barcelona had 'prime' Iniesta and Xavi the year before Guardiola joined them but the whole team was below par. The football this Barcelona plays despite the quality the possess is beyond belief.

Have to say, if i'm in charge of a midtable club at one of the top 4 leagues and i'm looking for a coach, i'm hiring Slavia's manager tonight

His players are, frankly, a bunch of farmers. And he has them playing inter, dortmund and barcelona even. He's not just outcoached Conte, Favre and Valverde, he's gone back in time, banged their moms then came back and waited for them with a "I'm your daddy!" sign
So annoying to hear smaller league players described as farmers. Half the Slavia players have international caps and they are all highly trained professional players.
Just cause they arent good enough to play for Real Madrid or Manchester United doesn’t mean they are farmers.
/rant.

Totally agree on Slavias manager though

A team consisting of a prime Xavi/Iniesta/Messi were always bound to dominate. Pep surely made them great but they were on the path to greatness irrespective of Pep. Even the Barca team comprising of MSN were brilliant. I am not giving an excuse for Velverde, he is crap but Barca were bound to drop a level or two once Messi aged.

Very happy to see Gini in the advanced role tonight, he’s excellent there for the Dutch and has been throughout his career. Still think Fab Gini and keita with Gini roaming forward is our strongest midfield. But all of Ox Lallana etc offer different things

Not true. The same team plus Deco and Ronaldinho + Eto'o finished 18 points behind Real Madrid in 2008. It was what and how Pep coached them that made them the best team in the world NOT the other way around!

Hopefully he'll have his famous crazy moment. Lovren that is. :D
He's definitely due one. He will probably tweet something about how great he is and then have a moment for everyone to laugh at.

They also won the CL two years before

Agree Guardiola took them up a level, but that team was going to be great no matter what

How many in the Pl are snubbing Ziyech? He'd walk into any starting XI here aside from the obvious two.

Wow Ziyech's pass there was great
That was vintage Ziyech right there. Chelsea defense really didn't think he was going to play that one but he did it anyway which is so typical for him, and it's why I hate people whining about some stats that show he doesn't have a high pass completion rate.

The 2007 version of Messi, Iniesta and Xavi were not the same from the next seasons. There is a reason Xavi/Iniesta were the pivotal figure in Spain dominating international football. Maybe without Pep they might not have won the CL immediately but they were always going to win with the talent they had. Everything panned out perfectly for them.

Napoli have missed 3 big chances, really should be ahead.
