Eh? Sounds very positive. Why would you travel to see the lads family if he wasn't interested? Why would you comment on his decision if he wasn't interested?

We shall see in January
Well we know he's met other teams as well. Ole just knows what he's decided by the sound of it.

It sounded more negative to me as well, maybe it sounds better in print but Ole seemed to say it with an air of resignation. Maybe reading too much into that, but it didn’t look promising from where I was.
Ah did he say it on air? Would like to see the clip.

I agree in any case, if he'd have got him he'd have thrown in a compliment or two. Maybe his flight to visit was a last ditch attempt to change his mind.

Only thing I'm concerned about is shoving Greenwood out on the right. He's been much better playing up top, and I don't see Martial or Haaland on the right either.

Depth wise with players in positions they have looked at the level we need, it'd end up like this...

LW - Rashford/Martial/James
ST - Martial/Haaland/Greenwood
RW - James

It would end up with Greenwood only getting minutes out on the right, which whilst he can play there, he hasn't looked half the player he has up top.
Long term Greenwood is a CF, no doubt. But for now he looks better playing on right side or just off the main striker. This way he doesn’t have to deal with CBs who are clearly physically stronger than him. He instead gets a go at midfielders or fullbacks which is easier for a player who is still filling up physically. I’ve not really watched Haaland too much but if he’s the guy who can provide constant goals, this team and our young players will have much more room to develop.

That doesn't sound "he is coming here" kind of quote. More like, "he is going elsewhere." As far as Ole smiling while saying that, he always smiles anyway.

I've no idea.
5:26 here. Just doesn't sound very positive to me, i might be wrong.
He knows what he is going to do suggests the deal is done. How else would he be in a position to make such a comment?

Think that's the key part. He seems flat in general due to the result.

Yeah I took it as a positive, I dint think he would have been so definitive in his answer otherwise.

He would still get enough games. His best games have anyway been when he was playing from left.

So we should get Haaland, RW and two midfielders.:wenger:

LW: Rashford, Martial
ST: Haaland, Greenwood
RW: Sancho:drool:, James
We can play a front 2 .. rashford and james on the wings ..

Hmm just seen the video, I thought he has a bit of a smug smile after saying it.

That is not a negative for me at all. He answers it quickly with a smile, he doesn't deny the trip either which he could have easily done.

If Haaland had said thanks but no thanks, Ole could have said he was just there visiting? or it wasn't him? he acknowledges it and says he knows what he wants.

For me that is positive.

yeah he's just giving his press-training type of non-answer there

nothing to read into it either way

Well they signed him for something like 2m this summer, and he wasn't exactly a big name until this summer when he scored 9 in the young world cup match.

Minamino who Liverpool have signed also has a 7m release clause, so if they have a low clause for him, I don't see why 20m release clause for Haaland sounds unreasonable. They probably didn't expect his rapid rise like this either.
Sounds reasonable.

If we buy him based on the idea that we can develop him/improve the non-poaching aspects of his game and he would cost £25m ish, then I think it is smart business. If we buy him thinking that he will improve our attack and as a regular starter or restricting our ability to buy midfielders during the January transfer window, then it is not good business.

Personal opinion: He knows how to position himself in the box and is a talent, but I think some people on here will be underwhelmed by how limited his non-poaching abilities actually are when they see him play in our less than functioning attack. Similar to Pepe, his output is dependent on the system he plays in, and we do not play the type of football that would make him useful.

Well Haaland, Greenwood or somebody else we need an alternative to Matrial, I have seen enough to know he is never going to be the answer as our number one striker

Ole has a great poker face. It could mean anything. I think the personal touch of flying out there to meet his family has sealed the deal - and will be revealed in Jan.

It seems more like he tried to persuade him. Dont see why he would fly in if it was not to change his mind. OGS knows both Erling and his father well.

What’s the consensus from the Noggie press?
More or less that he wants to go to United, but that he's open to go many places. It's been reported interest over here from Juventus, Bayern Munchen, Dortmund, RB Leipzig & United, unless I remember wrong.
Solskjær is constantly written about though, he's the biggest legend of Norwegians within the world of football working at the most supported club in Norway so the media will naturally gravitate towards writings about one of the bigger talents from Norway going to United.

Sounds like it means he thinks we're getting him to me. As always with this nonsense I don't care until the deal is done, but it'd be odd to say that if he's going elsewhere, having only flown out to meet him a few days ago.

He could just have said it as a default definitive but non commital answer to avoid being asked about it every 5 minutes, though.

Funny bunch you lot.

"Sounds positive that, think he's coming"

"Doesn't sound positive, he's not coming"

He said a simple fact, the player knows what he wants to do and what he is going to do. You can try reading into that all you like, but as @Irrational. mentioned, absolutely nothing is given away there either way.

The positive news is that this is not going to be a De Ligt or Hazard transfer, the club either know already that he's coming else they can move on to other targets, like a loan move for Mandžukić for example.

A consistent goalscorer would be so important in games like today's. It would make a huge impact on our season

I admit I haven't watched an awful lot of Haaland, but that feels like a lot to ask of a 19 year old

Positive thing is that now it's quite clear we are after him and they have been in contact. Unclear thing is Håland's answer. Better than we haven't even try. Most of rumours are just bs. This isn't.

We could start putting balls into the box again if we had him. Would be quite an asset for a football team.

Haaland will demand the starting spot. If Ole won't give him that, he'll go to Dortmund or whatever team can guarantee him. It's just common sense.
Just lie FFS!

“yes, yes you’re going to start. Now sign the damn contract!”
