Well we've already got Shaw and Williams at LB and Dalot/AwB at right back, experience aside he's not even needed.
Except Dalot is utter trash as a fullback and Shaw is a solid trash lately, so we will still play Young until the end of the season, I am sure. But if Inter wants him after the summer, offering him a one year extension - is not just stupid, and crazy, also voids the declared strategy of rebuilding with younger squad

This is too much. We are now trying to convince Ashley Young to say. Jesse Lingard extension incoming...
Look, it all makes sense in this accountant's ledger, if you ignore all the pesky footballing details...

 Imagine getting a transfer fee for a 35 year old (he will be by Summer) on a one year contract. The fee would be tiny, there is no way we're doing that to protect his value, he has no value due to his age.

This is disgusting behavior from a so called "fan"

Young's done nothing wrong, always been a model professional and always wears his heart on his sleeve when he plays for Man Utd, exactly what a Man Utd player should be like and you're celebrating he's going!

Our fan base is as toxic as Arsenal's at the minute.

Terrible terrible behaviour towards a loyal servant to the club.

Another experienced pro leaving the club and leaving us thinner in numbers and experience. Yet you all complain when the youngsters aren't consistent....well yeah cos there's no experienced players there to help guide them.

Come off it. Young was a bench player in his prime and should have left about 5 years ago.

Keeping the likes of Young and Lingard is not some noble cause, its the reason why we have fallen so far behind our rivals.

Mostly agree with this, Young has been a model professional. He was a good winger, converted to a wing back late in his career, it's not his fault that he was never that great as a wing back.

We do need senior heads around the youngsters and Young is ideal and so is Mata. I don't agree that either should start for us, but having them around the squad is good. At the end of the season, after Mata and Young have left, which other senior players will be around? Maguire, but he has only just joined. DDG doesn't strike me as a role model. And Matic hasn't been complimentary about the manager and is likely on the way out. Lungard and Pogba don't count.

We'll then turn into Arsenal of a few years ago, with promising youngsters who'll burn out and not have a senior head around to guide them.

This is Man United, not a charity. "Wearing his heart on his sleeve" isn't enough. We should be competing for trophies and to do that we need the best players, i.e; not Young. It's not toxic to want the best for the club.

Haha!

There's no tweets. So we must not be signing anyone! - Twitter is the oracle!!!

I'd rather have the SAF/Gill days back when Twitter wasn't around/or wasn't as prevalent.

Wake up one day and we'd sign someone.

At least won't see as many depressing posts as this one. Jesus wept.
Usually there's at least rumours, plus the summer showed that pretty much all of our transfers are global knowledge before they happen.

Sorry to break it to you but the current state of Utd is depressing. Wouldn't we all want the SAF/Gill days back.

If i remember correctly when Evra joined Juve it was for a couple millions and he was younger than Young, i think he has no value right now.

He turned extension down. Hopefully we can now take a deep breath, thank our captain for loyal service over the years and wish him best of luck

Club has truly become a laugh when even Young, one of the only guys in the squad who gets what it means, wants out. Say what you want about Young but he has givem everything for the badge in these dark days and will leave with my utter respect. Thank you for them 2 screamers in the 8-2.

Don’t let the stray pass hit you on the way out Ashley. He has been consistently bad on the field for a while, and I don’t think his captaincy/club leader has actually yielded anything positive? If he was so influential, “got what it meant to be at Utd” then he should have been able to influence some of the players to a degree that they at least gave 100% effort every time they step on the pitch. His time as a senior leader in the dressing room has coincided with the darkest days at the club in the last 30 years. He hasn’t been good enough on the field, hasn’t been influential enough off of it and this is a great opportunity for him, which he deserves credit for taking at his age to be fair.

Thank God Ashley has the sense to do the right thing for him and our club. This club though...what a joke.
Agreed, we are such a joke. We had he change to let go of Young without anyone bliking their eyes but we decided to offer him a bloody contract and then got rejected. Comical!!

Because he's a model professional who was a world cup semi finalist 2 years ago, gives his all every game and isn't nearly as bad as United fans make out?

There is every chance that he's not been offered a new deal, seeing as the BBC are saying it's a done deal to Inter. But I was just putting an alternative idea out there to try and swerve away from the regular doom and gloom that comes with any news related or not related to United
Defensively he’s absolutely awful. And he offers nothing going forward now. He would be ok as a back up in Italy imo and that’s why Inter want him. But no one is paying a fee for him.

If we have offered him a new deal, it’s just showing everything that’s wrong with this club.

Man Utd have ruled out signing anyone this window whilst continuing to be rubbish on and off the pitch for the foreseeable future...

A bit of honesty like this would be nice.

Saving face because he probably rejected us. Personally i wouldn't want a player who doesn't want to play for us anyway.
My guess as well. He is leaving Spurs to win something. Why would he come to us. We are not gonna win anything anytime soon

Not true. We're seriously considering signing certain players, which we will continue to do until the window ends. I wonder if the club has an entire department of people who sit around and seriously consider things.

Someone needs to corner Woodward in a shop or restaurant and demand some actual answers on what’s going on.

How can we get that fool Woodward out of our club? Most people can't be bothered to protest.
