Journalist Rachel Johnson once wrote in The Mail on Sunday newspaper that Markle could help bring "rich and exotic DNA" to the royal family.
Christ, it's like a Victorian salon: "Carruthers, bring that Amazonian plant in from the greenhouse - it will make for an interesting conversation piece, and doubtless impress Lady Ghastly."

Unpopular opinion on here, but I just don't see it like this at all, not sure many sane people do either.
Yeah. Maybe it's actually her hair that makes people burn with disdain from just looking at her.

I think they're just looking for a transfer to another royal family and have refused the contract they've been offered by The Queen. Harry was spotted last week in Copenhagen and its believed he's been offered a 400k a week contract to sign with The Danish Royal family.

Another reason that the press are up in arms is because they demand 24-hour access to people like these two and act spitefully when they are, understandably, refused it.

EXCLUSIVE: Harry’s girl is (almost) straight outta Compton: Gang-scarred home of her mother revealed – so will he be dropping by for tea?”

“from slaves to royalty, Meghan Markle’s upwardly mobile family.”

Journalist Rachel Johnson, the sister of British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, once wrote in The Mail on Sunday newspaper that Markle could help bring "rich and exotic DNA" to the royal family. She also described Markle’s mother as "a dreadlocked African-American lady from the wrong side of the tracks."

No racism what so ever here

I think people like you need to better your empathy skills.
People like me? What would that be then? A bigot, uneducated, a scumbag?

I may be masquerading under false pretences, but I like to think I'm non of the above, I just hate every time anything to with the Royal family is thrown up on here there is always a pre set reaction, it was exactly the same when Price Philip had his crash, just an automatic anti Royal reaction.

I'm sure there are many aspects as to why Megan and Harry have done what they have, and the press are undoubtedly arseholes in this country, but I am not buying that they weren't supported by during this, and that there weren't a myriad of factors to their decision, perhaps one been that Megan and Harry have just messed up themselves.

You going to ignore the obvious racism highlighted by other posters?

If you look at the comments below it was one of the very rare occasions when it was too much even for their readers.

Now that's upwardly mobile! How in 150 years, Meghan Markle's family went from cotton slaves to royalty via freedom in the U.S. Civil War... while her dad's ancestors included a maid at Windsor Castle

Charming Charlotte, Oxford, United Kingdom,
This is absolutely ridiculous.

Sunnywood, UK, United Kingdom,
What a horribly distasteful article. It's 2017 and you want to associate this woman with slavery going back centuries...Sick and weird.

pauleden, Huddersfield, United Kingdom
I don't think the Daily Mail gave World War 2 this much coverage

‘People like you’ means those who can’t see the very obvious and insidious racist abuse that has been hurled at Meghan from the establishment and media ever since she arrived on the royal scene.

You’ll know better than me why you can’t see that. My point is if you can’t see that, you need to enhance empathy in this specific area as it’s there to see in plain sight.

Wait, can someone explain. Do they still live off the tax payet after? On top of whatever they earn?

No, but how about people look at other major reasons behind this too, as soon as this is brought up, it becomes difficult to say anything other, and mention anything else without been labelled yourself, and as another excuse to throw abuse at the rest of the Royal family.

If you revert back I said I don't see it like this, ie the main reason for what they are doing, and I still don't.

Otherwise decent people who don't see racism is the reason why atrocities have occurred in or at the hands of otherwise decent nations.
Most Germans seem good people yet they allowed the Holocaust to happen.
Most Japanese seem good people yet they allowed the Nanjing massacre along with endless other war crimes
Most Americans seem good people yet they allowed slavery, systemic racism within our prisons, holding people without due process at Guantanamo, putting immigrant children into concentration camps. Constantly bombing Arabs as a threat which has been mainly due to our own shambolic policies that have radicalized an otherwise peaceful people.

We all see ourselves as the heroes of our own personal narratives, it's too overwhelming to consider otherwise... however, if you truly care about the world and want it to be a better place, it's necessary to dig deep and really look at what we all have done within our respective cultures and take responsibility.

But if you want to ignore it and think this is the best of all possible worlds and that you and your nation is pure, carry on.

It's what most have done for centuries.

This post makes no sense.

You said you 'don't see it like this at all', in response to this post:

Anyone that believes racism doesn't play is a role is a mug.
This whole shambles has been an eye opener about this country. It's disgusting.
As someone said, the queen, Charles and William watched the media chase a woman of colour out of the royal family and never...never uttered a word. Feck the lot of them.
In other words, you don't see racism as an underlying factor here.
Then generalised that anybody who does see the racism at play as insane.

What you typed above doesn't match up to your original post - which is why you got backlash. You're trying to walk it back, but not making much sense at all.
Also you labelled & threw abuse at a lot of people too.

I am not backtracking, I do not see racism as the major reason for their decision, I do not see this country as disgusting, and do not believe the Queen, Charles, William, etc allowed them to be chased out of their family with no support.

And I assume you are using the 'sane' comment for the boded part, in which case I apologise to all those offended, but beyond this I threw no abuse at anyone.

Or in Harmsworth, Murdoch and Morgan's case:
"Carruthers, bring that exotic fellow who tends to the geraniums near the hedge maze - he'll make for an interesting conversation piece. What's your name my friend?"

"Bob"

"Hmmm.... Too foreign sounding and impossible for civilised tongues to pronounce. I shall call you... Mongo."

Don't think it was as bad as with Megxit. But also, Kate seems to carry herself with dignity and understanding her role.

Is it possible that you don't believe racism is the primary driver for their decision, because you don't quite empathise with the feeling of being subjected to racist abuse on a regular basis? You accept there is at least some racism involved in how the media portrayed her...and yet seem keen to downplay it, as if it could ever be anything other than intolerable. Isn't it just easier to think "well maybe they're leaving because they made their own mistakes" rather than it being this deep, insidious attitude that's not just real but actually makes its way into the most read paper in the country on a regular basis, in full view?

So I have done my due diligence on Miss Markle, and this is where I stand. Genetically, she is blessed. If there is issue from her alleged union with Prince Harry, the Windsors will thicken their watery, thin blue blood and Spencer pale skin and ginger hair with some rich and exotic DNA.

The use of 'bolter' in that egregious article is code, immediately understandable to fellow snobs - it refers to Diana's mother, Frances Shand Kydd, who left her husband. This dismissive, unkind piece of supposed wit was famously spoken by the Queen Mother.

Oh, and these lines from Mrs Kydd's obituary say it all:
The news that Diana was dead was given to her an hour before the official announcement. The first journalist arrived at her bungalow at 5.55am.

Shortly afterwards, a fax came through from a tabloid editor: "I am sure I know more than you do about your daughter. I am at my desk and I know my readers want to know how you feel."
