Was brilliant today. Put in awful positions by James and still nullified all threats.

Effective in defense today. Didn't offer a lot going forward but, defensively was rock solid. One thing at a time.

Immense today. Glad to see his uptick in form as quite frankly he hadn't really got going this season until this month. Keep it up Luke!

He's been much, much better recently. Really good game from him today and first time in a while he's strung so many good perfromances back to back.

Been excellent the last few games. AWB is also exteremly strong defensivly but there's something about the assuredness of Shaw's defending that so compelling. He never seems to be in a rush. He's fast, strong and has developed one of the best first touches in the league.

Not the same energizer bunny as Williams but positionally he was really well aware and snuffed out danger well. If not for Bruno would have been MOTM.

Really got to give him his due, he was excellent at sniffing out danger today. If he's not there to block the early Deeney chance after that defensive mix up it could have been a difficult afternoon. Also snuffed out danger a few times over the game.

Think the push from Williams has given him a lift.

Perhaps that's just what some of our players need. They got too comfortable.

I'm liking the confident, driving runs he's doing over and over in games recently, more of that please. Personally I like him best as the LCB and Williams as LB as I think it offers us a lot on the left where we are a bit weak with Rashford out.

Has he upped his fitness? His acceleration over the last two games has been incredible, he's gliding past players at full speed.

Love how he's responded to the threat of him losing his place to Brandon.

His acceleration and speed have always been exceptional, even when he’s being criticized for being fat. The only problem in the past was he’d noticeably gas after 60-70 mins. He’s absolutely rapid though.

He does it every game though. He has top speed.

His problem always has been concentration or lack of.

Consistency and remaining fit are the question marks against Shaw as he's had periods like this for the club since he's been here.
Hopefully, hopefully this is The turning point now because he's a talented player.

Glad he's getting some good comments, looked pretty decent and comfortable today.
Glad we stuck with him against a lot of reason at times!

Motm after Bruno, superb defending today, wish AwB would be slightly calmer on the ball like Shaw.. Solid game

He was fantastic for Martials goal. Played his way out of trouble from the back and then the fact that he made kept on running on the outside, made sure their fullback couldn't just double down on Martial.

He’s the best defender defensively at the club. He’s also easily the most composed on the ball too.
Not just in terms of our defenders, but out of the whole squad he's right up there. His first touch, ability to shield the ball under pressure, and excellently weighted passes are brilliant.

Great game. Hopefully, Brandon Williams stays on the bench for the rest of the season bar injury.

Much better player than he is given credit for. Exceptional composure on the ball allows him to find a way out of tight situations, his final ball might not be great but his build up play is. Williams as a kid gets a ton of support but Shaw is still significantly better than him.

With this guy it seems it’s all about how much he wants it. If his motivation is there he is comfortably one of our best players, shame he can’t keep that motivation consistently.

Shaw has always been defensively solid, his problems have been in attack with his final ball, and mostly with his fitness. It is frustrating that he has missed so much time with injuries. A bit of a common theme with a lot of our defenders.

I think his problem is that he's pretty blunt in the final third of the pitch and he's being judged by everyone (me included) as an 'attacking' left back.

I see now that when I don't expect him to make an impact in attack he is actually really fecking solid. We need to give him the same slack as we do to AWB.

If not for Bruno he would have waltz man of the match. He was superb today. Defending, anticipating, passing, getting forward, making runs only thing missing from that performance was getting some balls in to the box.

Not really his fault that as he made the runs and offers for it But man his passing at times is sublime.

His positioning and anticipation of danger was absolutely spot on today. Every time they send a ball into the far post he’s always there to block it. Made defending look so easy today.

On the ball he is his usual reliable self. Calm under pressure and kept our passes going.

Bossed it in defence today. Like a few others have mentioned, he has a certain aura of composure about him. Without his block in the opening minutes, things could have gone very differently today.
