For those who can’t afford health insurance, there’s Medicaid.

In certain states but not all. For many, emergency room will be the only option.
For those who are near the poverty line and can barely afford a thing. $25k poverty line for a family of 4? For those in the wrong states, or those above the poverty line, they are screwed. Insurance could be as bad as half their income, depending on many factors.

I think it's a result of us being essentially 'tame'.

Wild animals are more wary, cautious and defensive.

I think the idiotic, dangerous reaction that you rightly describe is essentially a pompousness developed in society where we think some authority 'Daddy' figure will solve / fix it for us.

Probably a result of having so many freedoms constricted by said authorities, and for so long...

Arrived into University at 10.25am off a train than got a Bus and left at 12.15pm after meeting lecturer, some friends and getting books from library.

Confirmed case on Wednesday.

Primarily Drip. They boost the immune system
Secondary focus on Heart - so regular blood pressure tests and screen graphs
Thirdly Blood tests


Anyway - I'd be more worried going in to hospital and getting Sepsis.

Didn't expect UK to rank so low in hospital bed. Is that underfunding or has it always been like that?

Also, USA have loads! Presuming they staff them all they may not fare so terribly in the medium-run.

The USA has the fewest in the developed world.

Honestly I'm struggling with this, what do you expect people to do? We have experts who are guiding us, and advising people about how they can help themselves avoid it, if this is ramped up to things like schools closing, elderly staying in, etc, then it's right we respect it and help those who need it, but other than this we just carry on, and it is only to be expected that we think everything 'will be alright', I don't see anything wrong with this thought process.

The stuff about animals is nonsense, we all have self preservation instincts built in, but also rational minds to realise the danger from this as it stands does not require us to use them unnecessarily. Blind panic, people changing their whole life to cope with, reading every single doomsday article as fact, and selfishly hording supplies is not going to help.

Ultimately we do need a 'daddy figure' for this to be resolved, which will hopefully come from highly skilled people creating a vaccine, I can't do it, so I'll put my faith in them thank you very much, and in the meantime I'll try and live my life as normal, whilst been very much more vigilant.

Case confirmed in Ibiza. Italian guy. The island starts filling up mid-April and parties start mid-May. Could be a major problem. Especially as there's only two hospitals I know of, one being tiny, and one already with 8 hour waits in summer (in a small, hot, crowded room).

Exactly. This mass hysteria over a nothing virus. And I am saying “nothing virus” based on the massively low death rates compared to swine flu, Ebola and others ( I saw a chart comparing this virus to the other ones since 1966 and this has BY FAR the lowest death rates).

Truth is if the virus is super deadly, it doesn't spread well because it usually kill the host first.

There's a doctor who has made a Facebook post saying that Covid-19 is coming and it's not much to worry about. It's been shared 200k times.

While he makes a valid point that panic buying supplies is wrong, I can't help but feel his message is irresponsible in other ways.

What do you guys think?


He says he's scared that travel restrictions will ruin people's weddings, family reunions and the Olympics.

Just seems like a weird post. And of course it's been picked up by the "nothing to worry about" lot to propogate that Covid-19 is business as usual.
