Musk took a long time answering a question it was almost like an Eamonn Holmes/Davis Blaine interview, then he answered ”if civilisation is still around in 25 years”.

He's going to move his HQ to Texas or Nevada because California won't let him reopen it. Has he always been like this?

Not a surprise to see Musk predicting language will become obsolete when you consider he holds conversations like this

Not in the sense of pure intelligence. That might be someone like Ed Witten, Terry Tao or Michael I. Jordan, but to me, Musk combines - unlike anyone other - intelligence, creativity, vision and so on.
Intelligence, creativity, vision and so on.

Despite his recent mental breakdown, he has managed to make significant contributions (from an entrepreneur point of view) in three totally different fields. There are many people who have done better than him on something, but you would be hard pressed to find some other entrepreneur who have similar contributions in many fields.

Yeah he sounds batshit crazy and like a genuine tosser as a person, but as an entrepreneur you have to give him his dues, imo.

Sadly in Texas you need to have dealers / distributors and cannot sell direct to consumers. If this were a real timeline the irony meter would have killed us all by now.

Also I blame @Eboue for all this

His words don't necessarily line up with his actions. I recently sat through one of his talks where he stammered through an hour of promoting audacious ideas that left the audience befuddled. The guy next to me asked me if Elon was on drugs. He needs to sort himself out in the PR department.

I totally agree. He has been behaving very weirdly for the last couple of years.

I think it's pretty much a given that he's on drugs.

I had to turn the last JRE podcast off. They spent the first hour talking about replacing half the brain with microchips and AI, then complained that the government telling people to stay at home in a pandemic is against people’s civil liberties etc.

He's that classic example of a genius who is also a total idiot.

I don't think that he is a genius (in a traditional way how the genius is thought, like Einstein or von Neumann) and made it perfectly clear in my now 'famous' post. More like, he had some very good high-level ideas, great entrepreneur skills, and some (at times underrated) technical skill (that many entrepreneurs in the field like Bezos or Jobs totally lacked). As a combination, he was able to push his ideas forward, and revolutionize two-three fields (depending on if you give him credit for PayPal too) and essentially build multiple billion-dollar companies in each of those fields.

Of course, he also seems to have had a mental breakdown and having believed too much his own hype, which make him say ridiculous things all the time nowadays. At times, they might be to pursue his own interests (like the predictions for autonomous driving, or tyranny government for not allowing him to re-open his plant), at times seem just batshit crazy with no agenda at all.

Him using terms like ‘Brain cycles’ as if that’s how he thinks of his precious brain time is nuts.

He’s the guy that thinks popularity makes him cool.

No dude. You’re a rich nerd. Stay in your lane.

He's like a supervillain from a kids movie.

Is a geek, makes some money, becomes power mad, wants to automate the world and become the overall ruler.

Tesla is restarting production today against Alameda County rules. I will be on the line with everyone else. If anyone is arrested, I ask that it only be me.
