A great performance and I'd echo those that say it was his best individual performance. We know he can pull a spectacular mokent out of the bag, but it was encouraging to see that if given the right supply he is capable of getting into thr positions to finish off the "easy chances". Solskjær has been very big on us improving on those so I think he'll be quite happy with what he's seen tonight. We seem to have a fresh creative impetus, so I'd back us to create more chances like that going forward.

Very good goals. He'd be on for 30 goals if he took pens so I think he's doing as well as we can expect and you know he looked sharp with his running. I think there is a buzz in the team and I would expect that to elevate him to a higher level because we have a chance of being successful with this group.

Imagine the supply he'll be getting if we add a proper right winger to this team.

Funny how after the Rashford's miss, in the matchday thread there were like 2 or 3 posts actually blaming Rashford himself for the miss while the following 20 or so posts were blaming Martial for not shooting or giving a bad pass(wasn't a bad pass but a good one for a simple tap in). Just goes to show you the Caf agenda at times

With this Hattrick he's bought himself some time from being described every single lazy negative cliche thrown around before he misplaces a pass in the next game. At least for now the thread should mostly be free from the usual suspects
How long have you been in the game? Don’t be naive, next game if he doesn’t score at least one he’s going to get the lazy cliches thrown at him again. “bad Movement”, “inconsistent” etc.

I’m very happy with that!!
I’ve been a huge critic of his, but what I was happy with more than the actual goals was the work rate.
He was makiNg runs, being available, causing a nuisance.
Outstanding today long may it continue.

Martial had a two and a half month injury spell and there are only 3 players with more non penalty goals than him. Put him on penalty duties like our strikers of the past and watch him top the goalscorers table. It is his right as a United striker to be on penalty duties.

Congrats to him also on his first senior career Hattrick. We always knew he would excel with players of similar quality next to him.

Martial is level with Rashford now with 19 goals each in all competitions. Rashford is still ahead on assists (7 vs 5), but Tony did well today

It won't be long before his detractors are back out. After scoring the winner against City (again), all it took was one quiet game for them to want him dropped.
Like @Rozay always say, Martial is on a much shorter leech than most. Him alongside with Pogba are always a misplaced pass away from their threads being loaded with criticisms.

TBF to the Martial naysayer, he did display some mentality and work rate issue through out the course of the season. Personally, I fell in love with him the first moment he played for us and can never bring myself to hate him. But with his potential and the massive hope we fans placed on him, oh my wasnt it extremely frustrating to see him not fight for the shirts from time to time. Yes, performance and output is heavily influenced by those around him. Yes, it's not possible to always keep your head up within that under performed squad. But his issues were too obvious and consistent to be ignored.

Days like today, it's almost orgasmic watching the boy play.

A few posters with egg on their faces if you scroll through this thread after the Spurs game, in which he wasn't even that poor. Absolutely fantastic performance tonight and showed two sides of his game, scored two rather scruffy/poachers goals and then your classic Martial goal for the hattrick. Wonderful.

That's because Rashford is fluffing the chances put on a platter by Martial.

Those first two goals weren't typical of him, reckon the coaching is paying off.

Never mind the pens, mate.

If he hadn't missed two months through injury, and had someone better than Pereira and Lingard as creative players, which we thankfully do now, he would be close to 30 even without taking penalties.

Oh, definitely. He's spot on. Like @Kevin says above, despite having a good season on the whole, the next time he has a quiet game this thread will be filled back up with lazy cliches.

He’s earned a reprieve until maybe 15-20 minutes into his next game.

Yeah those people who were asking for him to be dropped after a quiet game against Spurs. Talk about ridiculous. First game back when the whole team didn't look at their complete best and rustiness showing throughout the whole league, and you had people clamoring for him to get dropped on the back of a quiet first game in which he actually forced a world class save.

Think this is the first time I have heard him do an interview in English.

Also I hate how these pundits do Martial dirty. Every time he has a terrific game the talk is always about how he should do it consistently and the talks main point and the bulk of it is about his "inconsistency". And when he has a quiet game it's a flood of criticism. Basically he's always floating between getting criticized for his inconsistency when he has great game to down right harsh criticism when he has a quiet game. Hardly see proper praise.

Meanwhile you look at other strikers in the league, they also don't score every single game but the talks are always about how world class they are. It's actually frustrating how bias the punditry is against Martial.

I've stopped paying attention to what they say, especially in regards to Martial and Pogba.

Probably during Fergie latest years. The time we had Chicharito, Rooney, Bertatov or maybe more recently when we had RVP and Rooney. I can't tell for sure.

I was confident Rashford and Martial would make it past 20 and I'm glad I was right. Enough games for both to push for 25 and closer to 30 then look for 30 goals seasons next year.

Great match for him, really stepped up, Ole deserves credit too, really nurturing Martials development well and making him play his best all around football

Very true. Crazy how much people's perceptions are based on if someone looks like they're 'giving it there all'. Being non-British also adds to it. Sourness said 'if only he had Rashford's attitude to the game'. Hasn't stopped Tony from matching his Prem goals tally.

Martial is way more than just goals too. His link up play is very good. Again something he's never given credit for. This, in his first season where he's played as a 9 consistently too.

Constantly at the STD clinic.
So does not having a crowd help him? Jokes aside he's been working really hard this season on his positional play. So many games where he had a "stinker" and was "absent" I noticed he was occupying the correct positions for his role.

And now that he finally has the service he is doing his job. Sucks that the season is ending.

Yea it was clear to see from 2 of those goals that he's been getting good tips in training regarding his movement in the box.

They were prototypical poachers goals that we've been yearning to see from him, I'm sure Ole was proud given how he used to be a predator in the box

He has been very good all season.

Not that you would know based on some of the rubbish written online about replacing him/playing Ighalo

Think it’s the best I’ve seen him play tonight all credit to him, movement, passing, shooting all fantastic.

Give him a 10/10.!
