OK then so you admit that there is nothing wrong with me being angry as well
I’m not following your reply to me, I just agreed with you that it’s a mess having club captain involved in something like this, nothing about your anger

it can’t be compared to Keane in the past etc as this social media age magnifies everything. I just think players should be more careful where they let their hair down, just as the rest of us do who work and could have work impacted by outside activities.

But that contradicts your original point that was that Harry was the one behind the bribe even if he wasn’t offering it himself. That he ‘sent’ the bribe...?
Not really. As said celebrities like to surround themselves with people eager to take the slack on their behalf. Think about it. Who will get hurt the most out of this mess, a nobody or Maguire? So why would a nobody try to bribe the guy? Unless...

3) Been to plenty of Greek islands & never seen plain clothes police.
How do you know that? The point of a plain clothes police officer is that they are not immediately identifiable as police.

:lol::lol::lol:. Exactly why they are in plain clothes you aren’t suppose to notice them. He killed his own logic

No massive hate for Maguire as a player but this is fecking stupid.

At the very least he should be losing that captaincy, but to be honest depending on how serious this actual offence is surely there’s grounds to cancel his contract? Especially if there is jail time involved (can’t see that happening though).

This is the sort of shit we expect from someone like fecking Rojo, not someone we spent £80m on and gave the captain’s armband within months.

State of this thread. What’s the point in worrying about it until the facts are out in the open. It’ll be in the news until the football restarts, and then no one will give a shit.

Things can go wrong very quickly in a foreign country if you're challenged by an official and you don't speak the language. You just have to be so careful.

Through his lawyer?
He got arrested late at night, even in the best scenario he wouldn't get to speak to his lawyer until the next morning.

it's fair to say it was either his brother or his friend that did it. Anyway i would imagine bribery is a pretty common thing from most prisoners.

I hope he's released without any sort of chargr so I can start making jokes.

Does not feel right to makes jokes at his expense if it's serious.
His lawyer yesterday said he's convinced that Maguire will be released without any charges today.

Rather:

Maguire: Clean record, is a well respected public figure who has never conducted himself with anything but class.

Hellenic Police: Horrendous record of bribery, violence and corruption. Widely recorded as one of the most corrupt forces in the world.

I think you can forgive people for being skeptical of a force that has a history of overaggressive policing and shaking down foreigners.
I just think it’s hypocritical. There’s a number of posters insisting that people should wait for the facts but they’re happy to form their own conclusions on the guilt of the police involved. Just seems weird to be so indignant about something to then turn around and do the same thing.

Have they come to conclusions? Being skeptical of reports from a highly corruptible source with a history of bribery and unwarranted violence isn't unreasonable. Wanting to see some solid evidence of his supposed wrong doings isn't unreasonable. But balancing being British again being undeniably corrupt is entirely unfair, and I think you know that.

Maguire’s lack of pace coming back to haunt him, should have been on his toes when the dibble turned up.

Because he doesn’t want to go to a Greek jail would be the obvious answer. A ‘nobody’ is still a person.. with a family. As I say, you’ve been watching too many movies

This sums it up. Or some other controversy will occur and everyone will forget about this and focus on that.

No you’ve entered the Caf, where lots of Utd’s own fans seemingly despise the club captain and it’s Christmas to them.

The English bashing has got to a new level in here.
The Caf, where some of the members are not really Utd fans. Just fans from other clubs pretending to be united fans, in order to make it look like we are full of hate.
I am shore that hapends at other teams fora to : )

Baffled as to why so many people hate Maguire and seemingly want him to be punished without actually knowing the facts.

Let the courts decide what will happen. But we’d be in a much worse position if he wasn’t in our team next season
There are lot of IFs. And something did happen. Otherwise he wouldn’t spent time at police.

What he have done last year on the pitch have nothing to do him eventually making bad decisions. Starting with travelling in pandemic time.

Everyone is nice until they do something stupid.

Why are you putting all Greece police in one bucket when you talk about Maguire as an individual. Put Maguire in a bucket of common picture of English lad culture under Party vacations and you suddenly have another picture.

So take it Easy with misscrediting Greece.

So tell me. Would someone commit a bigger crime (bribery) because he is afraid of facing the music for a less serious crime? (resisting arrest).
Not really. As said celebrities like to surround themselves with people eager to take the slack on their behalf. Think about it. Who will get hurt the most out of this mess, a nobody or Maguire? So why would a nobody try to bribe the guy? Unless...
Are you the prosecution lawyer, because it seems you have already made your mind up on how the event played out and you also already know very well all the defendants.

Oh far from it. However I find it silly how people had already excluded that possibility. All I care about is the good name of our club and not having our players getting involved in such type of mess

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

I mean, a 'nobody' is more likely to go to jail than somebody who is rich and famous who is much more likely to just get off with a fine.

Not if his rich matey helps him out. Which he most probably would if this nobody manages to make all this go away before the media makes a whole circus out of it.

A celebrity has a lot to lose out of this. Fines will need to be paid and sponsors would bail out of him.
