I'd respect someone more for ordering 63 thousand shots instead of being one of those twats ordering bubbles for 10k + to play the big man.
It's impossible for us to imagine, but i suppose if someone is on 200k a week they're going to want to splash out every so often.
Chances are they spend the vast majority of the season living to a really locked down formula with coaches and club officials.

A Footballer s life outside the pitch can be pretty boring. During weekends they usually have matches, so basically their free time is during the week when all their friends are at work and in the summer.

So I don't blame throwing away some of their cash during holidays

It's not impossible to imagine. 100 % these guys can't taste the difference between a crazy expensive bottle and a normal priced one, maybe they can taste the difference compared to some real cheap stuff. It's only for signalling reasons. It's spending money for no other reason than spending money, and it's done to look cool. It's lame behaviour, no way around it. There was a brief fad around here where people paid for bottles of champagne just to have the bartender pour it all out, as some sort of show of status thing. That's basically the same thing.

It's not a huge indictment of Maguire's character or anything, most people do or at least have done lame stuff, but buying the crazy expensive bottles at clubs is what rich twats do to show that they're rick twats.

It's 10 times better than Greek! I'd never go back there, I had my fill of Greek island holidays when I was in my 20s. It's on my list of places I never want to go to, along with China and Texas.
Why Texas?

I happened to go to Uni with a guy richer than Maguire many, many, many times over, I know what it's like to spend crazy amounts of money. It's not about looking flash or not, it's about spending money for the sole reason of showing off.

So how did he spend his, presumably birthright money?

So to stop further violence you'd jump in with violence. Gotcha
No, to stop a family member from being attacked you would do anything in your powers. Now I don't know the full story, or even what is true. But if someone was carrying a sharp object, you're not just gonna go over there and give them a loving hug are you. You do whatever you can to ensure the safety of your loved ones.

If you're happy to sit there and watch your family and friends take a beating then that's a whole different issue in itself.

Greece is actually doing pretty well with the pandemic and have been a "safe to travel" destination this summer. The club obviously know this and of course the approved the travel plans. In fact: Greece has been doing better than say.. The UK.

Besides, it IS possible to keep to social distancing and general hygiene advice in Greece, it IS bigger than 50 square metres and you dont have to rub noses with people to go to the bathroom.

Bruno goes to a family friendly quiet location becuause he has a small child. How very, very surprising?
You speaking about Greece in general but Mykonos is a partyisland where people in their mid 20’s getting drunk and take cocaine for breakfast. That’s why islands like Mykonos and Ibiza should be banned from the club. Professionals shouldn’t be there, especially not during a pandemic. And they should absolutely not be there to drunkfight with police and fans. Is that so hard for you to understand?

You can forget social distancing at an island like Mykonos. Too small.

Bruno actually met up his former team in Portugal, visiting their training camp today - 3 weeks before PL season starts. That’s what I call leadership.

Crazy expensive to me is spending a weeks pay on a bottle for me that would be a lot less than Harry

Harry earns £190,000 per week so crazyexpensive for him is £190,000 bottle and even then it isnhos money.

No, if you're a millionaire who is the captain of the football club you're going to leave and let the police deal with it. Its below you to be getting into a fight and risking getting yourself in trouble. Its also what most sensible people should do. They have a sharp weapon, how do you know they dont also have a gun?

and what if the assailant lunges for her again? Sit by and wait for the police to turn up.

The truth is that none of us know how it went down. So we can't sit here and chastise him, nor can we back him. But in the hypothetical situation that we have provided, in my opinion, you would be doing the wrong thing.

If you're literally forced into a fight then theres no question and no options. We havent been told thats what happened. We've been told he went into a rage after his sister was hurt and got into a fight

I find it quite ironic this thread is full of people arguing Greek police are extremely corrupt, yet one of the charges is attempted bribery. So corrupt they deny a bribe, eh?
Not big enough? ;)

F*ck the media for as always blowing "Maguire's" bar bill out of proportion if the below quote is true.
Maguire and his entourage sank bottles of vintage champagne, firework-decorated cocktails and spirits at the exclusive SantAnna beach bar.

Their huge spending included an £18,000 ($A33k) bottle of Dom Perignon Brut 2002 bubbly.

They also splashed out on a £17,000 ($31k) bottle of Armand de Brignac Champagne, plus £750 on three bottles of Jack Daniel’s.

The stars lined their stomachs with £1,200 of lobster, seven ribeye steaks costing £820 as well as Greek meze platters and Wagyu beef rolls.

Maguire paid a fraction of the total bill and mainly drinks beer.
Apparently it was other celebs at the hangout that racked up the big charges, including Love Island "celebs", Snooker players et al. And it wasn't even on the night of the altercation.

According to this article: https://coupler.foxsports.com.au/ap...l/news-story/02e03826a98e9176c200be67bb4d4994

It is originally a Sun article, so not sure how much can be trusted, but even so all it does is paint Harry in a good light if you actually read all of it and not the angle they are trying to sell.

Apparently another rumor doing the rounds is some Albanian gangster tried to chat up Maguires sister, she turned him down and got stabbed in the arm with a metal straw. You just can't make it up.

Is a metal straw a sharp object?

Equally though there must be people that don't spend as much money like that?

Let’s assume Maguire is broadly innocent of the worst charges and is able to convince United that he didn’t make successive bad judgements, and so they stick by him as captain.

In that scenario, the PR team need to manage this carefully. Firstly they need to flood the media of the real story. Then make a statement that they are standing by him. And then quickly follow that up with the announcement of a major transfer signing to move the news cycle onto a different subject. And do all this before players return for training.

Else this becomes a major distraction.
