I guess the implication is there are criminal gangs operating in Greece that use that method to incapacitate victims in order to rob or rape them. The doctors advised the victim not to tell the police because they’re in cahoots with the criminals. The criminals would probably pay off the police for license to operate in such a scenario.
Wow, you have everything figured out, impressive.

I believe him and stand by him. Did with Cantona and Rio. We should look after our own.

Thanks. The whole investigation and court process feels so rushed from both a prosecution and defence point of view.
One thing I don’t understand is why he was allowed to leave the island, when the court case was so near. Anyone know what the legal thinking is behind that?
I was thinking perhaps the fast process is a special one designed for tourists, to try them before they leave. But then the Greek authorities allowed him to leave. So that would make no sense.

Why hasn’t any other PL player had a similar incident this summer then?
What? Is that really your logic? Because different things happen every second to every person in the world. Why didn't any other players beat up a day thief trying to steal an old lady's bag?

We might also consider that no matter what we might think of ‘their system’, it’s there country and they can do as they choose. Tourists are there as guests and it’s up the to tourist to abide by local customs or fall foul of their law with all its foibles.

If you’re worried about Greek cops and law, behave while you are there or don’t go at all!
You are right.

I still believe the first misstake was going abroad on vacation in pandemic time. There are lot of beautifle places in UK.

Funny how there's basically no coverage of this on the BBC front page. If this was one of our 'foreign' players, it'd be pandemonium.

As for Maguire, this will probably lead to nothing more than a big fine for him but he should not be our captain, even if it was an unfortunate circumstances. This is especially true because OGS goes on about 'good lads' and culture, etc. so let's see if we're consistent on this.

Amazing the lengths people go to, to make stuff up to fit a particular narrative.

It was the main story for the national news..

I guess the real issue is the substance injected into Maguire's sister somehow. If that's really ketamine, or something of that nature to incapacitate the victim, they had to do everything to make sure she couldn't have her blood sampled in time to prove the ketamine injection. Hence, instead of going to hospital first, they end up at the police station. I would be infuriated and hope they can prove that big time.

Tbf.. Have u seen pics of some of the resorts in England? Probably less room to social distance there than Greece. Not to mention the press would be on him like bees on honey at all times.

I don't live in the UK any more and just checked the BBC news website. It's nowhere near the top, so my point is pretty accurate as of the time of writing. Not my problem I'm not watching news 24/7.

This is weird. I guess the website changes depending on location...

Regardless of how guilty or not. Is it just me that finds it very strange that the local government manages to muster a court and come to a verdict within 3 working days? This happened between thursday and friday, today is tuesday. Anyone from greece want to say if this is normal?

Edit: It's the second story on the home page for me.

I was think more about nature. Not beaches. Walking and camping in northern Scotland would do some football stars good.

Are you seriously suggesting if this was Pogba Sky Sports wouldn't have set up a new channel with Sounness to 'cover' the story? Come on.

Please learn to read. I'm talking about the website which is the general Home page, not the UK one. I don't watch TV nowadays, so your point is irrelevant.

Listen, I’m not claiming to know anything about the Greek justice system. However, could it just be that the Greeks have had to introduce special laws regulations in order to be able to process hoards of Brits getting arrested every day of each summer, just as they have had to do with the hoards of Brits getting arrested each & every weekend in my home town of Amsterdam? Why is it that everybody is assuming that Greece’s juridical system is a sham and their cops corrupt??? Maybe they are I don’t know, but how arrogant & prejudiced can you get?! Surely we should be far more concerned about the yobbish and cnutish behaviour of 100,000’s of Brits abroad!!!

Why are you ignoring the claim that his sister was targetted by criminals and they for the most part believed they were defending themselves?

Should they just let someone kidnap his sister because they don't wanna be impolite guests?

It's the top story on the BBC, ahead of articles about the coronavirus and the the exam scandal.

This is getting huge coverage everywhere because Maguire is a celebrity. It would be exactly the same if he was foreign.

Just mentioned on Sky that Harry and his legal team wanted video footage to be shown as part of his defence, but it was not permitted.

That sounds shady and it does lend a touch of legitimacy to his version of events.

I stand to be shown otherwise but sounds to me like these plain clothes policeman were heavy handed with him and he retaliated in the midst of his fury over whatever happened to his sister.

The footage will surface sooner or later and we shall see.

Famous professional footballers should not be getting pissed in public bars right now. It is the height of stupidity.
I know people are going on about United, but there have been numerous players who have been pictured pissed in public bars this summer. Also there are probably numerous United footballers who were pissed when they entered the field playing for United in the past.

Soooo what has the BBC got to do with Sky Sports? You mean the same Sky Sports that has Maguire in two of its top 3 stories? And the same BBC that has it as its second story on the main page? You're having a mare.
