Got to be Pogba. Most professional player we have and most importantly our best player.

If anything good can come out of him punching a bunch of cops in the face, it's that he punched his way straight into our hearts as the captain of our team.
I’m more blown away by the idea that many on here like their captains to walk away from guys fecking around with your sister. That blows my mind, Bruno for example looks the type to go several different types of crazy on anyone fecking with his family, and that’s one of the reasons I love the bloke.
Di Maria would walk away and leave his sister to sort herself out.

Of course I love Bruno and he's our best player by miles but I'd still rather Maguire as captain. He's been the subject of a witch hunt all season by some (and plenty have defended him to be fair) and now the Greece incident is fuel to the fire for those with an agenda against him.

It wouldn't be beyond a manager to use this situation with Maguire as an excuse to change Captain to Bruno Fernandes, who I feel is a more natural Manchester United captain, as he embodies the passion and drive we want from our team.

If the situation is as serious as new reports are saying (assault against an officer) it may be out of Solskjaer's hands anyway.

Who'd you choose? I'd give it to Bruno, but put my arm around Maguire's head and say "this doesn't change my opinion on you, this is just to take the pressure off of you blah blah"
Why this urge to make people make their minds up to early? This sounds like a court opening where the jury is instructed to make their decisions of guilty or not guilty so the Judge can measure out the penalty before the court is getting confused by all the evidence.

‘I have no idea if he did it, but I say we shoot him just in case, because he would be such a despicable, dishonest sociopath if he did!’

Don’t think Ole will take the captaincy from Maguire, but if he’s suspended by the FA he’ll have no choice.

Maguire.

Club would show that it cares for it's players and imho having good chemistry within team is maybe even the most important thing. And well, I don't think this situation in Greece is so horrible and unforgivable. Shit happens.

Where is this coming from?
I said “if he’s suspended” ...though as he's already been dropped from the England squad, I assume the FA may charge him with something like bringing the game into disrepute. Which seems harsh under the circumstances, but Maguire is currently under licence pending appeal and no doubt the FA will have to take a view one way or the other.

Maguire is obviously a fiery bastard, a maniac who'll be first onto the battlefield and last off. Isn't that what you want in a captain? A lunatic who will go to war for the squad?

When he was captain, he put in his best season to date despite Mourinho's meltdown. I think he'd do it justice but Ole is most likely not changing Maguire as captain.

The thing that makes me scratch my head is why did Maguire even get it in the first place after just moving from a smaller club, with no trophies and less experience than our own players? It doesn't make sense.

I hope you have a long arm.

I don't mind Maguire as captain as long as we don't buy any Greek players.

I don't care as much about this incident but if we wants to stay captain, he needs to start playing better.

the player that captained France U20 to world Cup winning in 2013. The uncontested leader of the France world cup winning side of 2018. A natural leader. A man that doesn't drink. A man that just likes dancing and have nice haircuts, a family man . a true ROLE-MODEL. That player should be the captain

Who’s the current vice captain, or don’t we have one?

Seriously? I really don't think they would care. Not that I think we are in for any. Manolas could do a job, I guess. Or Stafylidis? Is he any good?

The only realistic options before Maguire were Pogba, De Gea, Matic, and Rashford, but:

Pogba, at the time, wasn't sure about his future.

De Gea doesn't strike me as a leader and hasn't been himself over these last couple of seasons.

Matic was in bad form and was meant to be leaving.

Rashford probably too young?

Maguire, whilst new to the club, seems to have great leadership skills, and it was something we were crying out for last season.

Ole explained why he gave Maguire the captaincy.

Thanks for that link. Sounds like we were in an unfortunate situation at the time, and Maguire was a beneficiary of that.

I do think that the likes of Matic, Pogba, and Bruno instruct others and lead on the pitch better than Maguire, so Ole must be seeing something behind the scenes which Maguire has but the others don't. That's the only way it makes sense.

You can't have Pogba as Captain instructing others because half the time, and that's being generous, he doesn't even know where he should be himself.

Maguire.

Far from his biggest fan, and he wasn't my first choice when he got it, but I don't see a good reason on stripping him of captaincy.

He also needs support from the club and the fans.

In a possession team, I think those three are very good organizers; Pogba included.

Our fans suck. Literally no support, with some posters even wanting him stripped of captaincy for this. Luckily, United are and have been a club to keep things in house and support our players. No way he gets stripped.

Ditto. From the accounts coming out of the events in Greece he doesn't appear to have done anything that would warrant stripping him of the captaincy. This is when the club should support and protect him, not hang him out to dry
