Well, either its going to be a detailed breakdown of every discussion over Sancho, Grealish etc.

Or a generic statement 're. operating in difficult global conditions despite our continuing commitment to excellence and maintaining our position as the worlds biggest club with over 2 billion fans'

which do you reckon it is?

Will they preserve the clubs strength by refusing to take dividends for a few years? Nah, didn't think so.

But hey, atleast they have a ready made excuse for when we finish 12 points behind Chelsea next year and struggle to come 4th.

Poor Ole.

We should sign someone though. I think given the circumstances even strengthening one maybe two positions would be a good window. Doesn’t even have to be Sancho level - although that’s what we really should be doing ASAP.

I get why we’re being cautious given our previous catastrophic big transfers but we’re just being stingey now

We'll get that young player from Monaco and a couple of ok-ish loans brought in.

I wasn't particularly expecting anything major this transfer window due to the current climate so..

Yeah it simply has to be Sancho level if City buy you know who in this window, failure to do that and we need to show the club we are willing to boycott the place to get our message across.

It’s nothing that we didn’t already know.. however maybe they shouldn’t say we will do things in the market other clubs can dream of etc.. so far everyone is literally out buying us.

we just have to try and reserve judgement until the transfer window closes... still some way to go .. but right now it’s hard to feel too excited to be a united fan. Chelsea fans must be buzzing!

"...other clubs can dream of "particular line has become a rod for Ed's own back. Such naivety and arrogance but he did say it a long time back now. We dont need to bring it up constantly.

I have a feeling he didn't receive an email and is just rewording the quotes we've already heard coming from United.

Just wish he had been smart enough to not say something so ridiculous

Was nothing, the usual shite about uncertainty about Covid and future impact so United wants to be cautious in the market to "maintain financial strength", seemingly not realizing that the failings of the actual football team will hurt the finances.

I don't think that's based on anything new. Messi's entourage already reached out to City a while back. He used tem previously to get a huge contract at Barcelona. I think City was always one of Messi's backup plans in case things at Barcelona went awry. The City links are only blowing up because of Messi's intention to leave the club. If he does, then logically speaking, City will probably be his first choice.

What would a portuguese speaking dude know about where he's going? For a Brazilian, makes sense, for an Argie, no.

Feelers have been put out. Money will factor in and they won't win that ahead of United or Real.
