Dembele is a huge name, will sell jerseys and please our official noodle sponsors. But he is always injured and has had struggles on and off the field at Barca - a team he is supposedly very reluctant to leave.

This deal seems like the crowning achievement of all that Woodward has been building towards
I don't think Dembele is a huge name or a big shirt seller honestly, his stock has fallen drastically. Yeah he plays for Barca, but his reputation right now is mostly about being injured and missing that chance against Liverpool.

But no height. A libility at corners. I'm sure Brighton have to put one-and-half players in such situations.
White, Dunk and Webster are all huge and if Burn is on he’s literally 100 foot tall! Lamptey being small is no issue

Football will continue and nothing will happen to industries who have a brain. 99.9% survival right against this "deadly" virus.
Come to England and visit each one of the 740 NHS workers families who lost their family member to this virus by them simply treating people with Covid in hospital. They were killed by it so it's clearly deadly. When did the seasonal flu ever kill more than 700 NHS staff in 5 months from simply attending work? It never happened... that's when.

You can't put brains where there is nothing though as a wise man once said.

Manchester United's latest offer for Alex Telles didn't even deserve a response, Porto dismissed it without holding talks.

I know it’s not United related but thank you for calling that post out. As someone working at the front line with Covid patients in Australia, I can sincerely confirm that it is a dastardly disease...one I would never even wish on my worst enemy. Stay safe.

And same to you mate. My wife is a nurse at Bolton and she has come home in tears more than once since March. And she's not really a crying sort of person either.

Aouar almost completed and Kolasinac to Leverkusen for 9M£ + bonus should also be signed off.

Mustafi to Lazio appears to have died, Sokratis still there and Atletico Madrid wasting time with Torreira. Still no idea if those outs are to ease Aouar signing or genuinely fund Partey's release clause on top of that.

The long term effects of this in even the most healthy people have been terrible and are continuing to emerge. It's not just about not dying from it. Don't be a prick.

Source is sketchy but Liverpool have sold their fringe players in past for good amount. We keep likes of Lingard, Jones etc till their value is virtually next to nothing and then complain about not being able to sell.

It's been repeated a million times, we struggle to sell because our fringe players are on ridiculous wages.

It's crazy how they can sell each of their unwanted players for average 20m while the ones over 30s went for 10m. This is why I've said it before James should be worth 25m-30m at least.

Not only that, we don't sell them at correct time and instead we give them new contract. We gave Lingard contract when we should have moved him on. Same for Scott. Same for Jones and Smalling. Need to be ruthless and move them whenever their value is good. That's why DOF is necessary because they can spot who in long term is not good enough

Torgeir Børven has signed for Ankaragücü, leaving Rosenborg after only three months. Fee around €200.000.

It’s obvious why Liverpool get better bids generally speaking. The players they sell have been on loan appreciating in value. We could have sold Tuanzebe for £20m+ last summer, but we are ‘different’ with our academy players, so if Axel is ever sold, it will be once he has shown his value to be around £2m. If his value is ever any higher than that, we’d be saying we want to keep him.

Leeds could have sold Ben White for £30m this summer. We could have sold Henderson for more than that this summer. Liverpool are selling players like Grujic, Wilson and Brewster after impressive loan spells because they are holding the standard of playing for their first team extremely high, as opposed to just putting academy players who have shown to be alright.

Bit over the top there, Dembele is barely ever playing. There's no reason to get a talented player who doesn't play.

Even when fit I don't know if I'd bench Greenwood for him in every game he also has off days. This transfer makes no sense to me. I can understand Perisic more because at least he'd be available for selection.

I like the idea of taking a punt on someone who can be special, it's more exciting than a good player who is more reliable.

As the manager, yes I probably loan Persic. Especially this season with such a congested fixture list. As a fan, the idea of O. Dembele just excites me more.

You know what youre getting with Perisic. Still quality and great character, leadership, experience. Even Bayern coach said he really misses him.

Dembele however, he just might be ballon d'or one day. You dont know. Oooor he might be injured all year and do nothing.

And we should sell before his value drops further and further and then before you know it we offering him a new contract for more money and then we are stuck with a 30 year old squad player

These Norwegian press make it seem like Sancho and Ole have a daily morning check-in. If he was so desperate, he'd have put in a transfer request already.

It’s garbage though, it’s negatively impacting propaganda and it’s not welcome anywhere besides a Trump or tin foil hat forum. It’s not fair on people with real life examples like that other poster.

Also, it slips out of being classed as opinion when false stats are used to back it up.

Why Liverpool's squaddies go for more money is no mystery and two of the 3 reasons have already been touched upon.

1. Sell academy products after successful loans when their value is high.

We could have sold Hendo for 45-50m to Chelsea this summer. Our fans would riot if we do so. imo we should have sold him purely for financial reasons.
Same for Axel last summer.

2. They are a top 3 club in Europe, United are a top 15 club in Europe right now.

Buying club will think a player who couldn't make Liverpool's first 15 >> player who couldn't make United's first 15.
Nothing we can do except to turn our results around.

3. Wages.

Our wages are actually fine while the players are out on loan. The problem is we bring them back and put them on bumper contracts, see Henderson.
The correct way would be to sell them while their wages are low and their reputation is high.

The issue is our fanbase likes to moan. They will moan if we sell academy players at 21,22 and they will moan when we give them big contracts and they become unsellable.
