It’s obvious why Liverpool get better bids generally speaking. The players they sell have been on loan appreciating in value. We could have sold Tuanzebe for £20m+ last summer, but we are ‘different’ with our academy players, so if Axel is ever sold, it will be once he has shown his value to be around £2m. If his value is ever any higher than that, we’d be saying we want to keep him.
Leeds could have sold Ben White for £30m this summer. We could have sold Henderson for more than that this summer. Liverpool are selling players like Grujic, Wilson and Brewster after impressive loan spells because they are holding the standard of playing for their first team extremely high, as opposed to just putting academy players who have shown to be alright.
