can't believe people are saying City game

We'd Fergie in charge and the only reason it was 6 we went gung ho when 3-1 down

we won the league that year

This is a depth we haven't seen since the 80s.

The worst day of my United supporting life was the last day of the 2009 transfer window, as it was then final that United responded to Ronaldo leaving by signing Valencia, Obertan and Owen. No last-day move for Robben or something, no, it's just Valencia, Obertan and Owen.

It was at that time that it became perfectly clear to me what these owners would turn the club into.

Yes this is the worst. 6-1 vs City as OP says was a bad day at office. Knew the team will bounce back. This team is hopeless. It is culmination of series of bad decisions.

How could anyone say this is worse than Aguerooooo.
Even after that there was still hope, we signed RVP and won the league at a canter. This defeat just feels like we've hit rock bottom and we might not have even hit that yet! There's a cancer at United and it was there before Moyes, Mourinho, Pogba, LVG, Ole and whoever else.

I think it's finally hit home that we'll not be challenging for the league for a long, long time yet.

7 years and counting.

I can only hope it doesn't reach 30 years like Liverpool.

This is worse for me, but not because of this result alone. Back when City did this to us, i knew that it was a one off.. a one time thing, and we know now that it was just that. This is something else.. our whole club is falling completely apart, and this is just another step towards that. I am truly afraid for the future of the club, and not just the next 2-5 years. We are talking a decade or two in the future.

Could be one of the best if Ole gets the sack. Alas, he will stay and we will be miserable

Nope. I've seen us lose big games that cost us trophies. This team was never going anywhere.

The 2005 FA Cup Final was the most gutting but this is one of the most dispiriting, we're just not very good or relevant anymore. This definitely feels worse than the City game, that was 3-1 with a minute to go and we were chasing the game but this was just a poor team led by a poor manager assembled by a club that has completely lost its way getting battered.

It's the first time I've turned a utd game off at half time I think. This combined with us trying to fix our 5 year long right winger problem by signing an 18 year old Uruguayan unknown instead of Sancho puts it up there.

We lost the league on goal difference, and probably wouldn't have if not for giving up six goals.

Worst day so far. Likely to see it change as the season goes on. It's only been 3 weeks:)

No, I said yesterday that whilst our team looks good on paper, we’re absolutely miles off and will be until we get a decent coach that fits the club. I barely give a shit these days and didn’t watch again today.
Poch has been the obvious candidate for years.

Getting new decision makers upstairs is a must if we wanna go anywhere.

On the contrary, I enjoy a challenge that openly presents itself, and watching this United side battle tooth and nail all season long to avoid relegation is one hell of a challenge.

Buckle up, lads and lasses, it's gonna be a bumpy one.
Battling for 1st in the championship should be fun

It's certainly up there and underlines the rotten running of the club for 7 years.

Throwing 90 mill on Pogba, 80 mill on Maguire, and without covid possibly 108m on Sancho. We can't even spend our way out of trouble and will always be a laughing stock as it comes from the top.

City game was worse.

The fans, the buildup, the fact I've seen United destroyed on the pitch, but never by a scoreline like that. I'm 35, so I can't remember another time

I switched off today at 1-5. Watching The Wire for lighter entertainment.

City game we still ended up on the same points and almost won the title. Still winning games. This follows a lucky win against Brighton where we could have arguably lost, and a loss at home to Crystal frigging Palace. No comparison. This is undoubtedly worse.

The key here is this is not a blip.
Probably, but I've long accepted that we're shit from top to bottom now. I was more devastated then.

Nah the City game. It was the noisy neighbours and we were actually half decent then if I recall
They were superb and we were good. But it was us going gung ho late on that led to them scoring their last 3 goals to give the scoreline that mad look.

Today we just got battered to a team who aren't even a guarantee for top 4. And we didn't go gung ho`

It's the day I've accepted that we won't be anywhere near a top club for a long long time. Especially under the current regime.
This is spot on for me too. Too much wrong with this club now. The last 7 years exposed us, fergie covered it up for 8 years because he was so good. The club is rotten to the core, we let the damp rise and now we are consumed with it.

I'm struggling to care to be honest, so no. Bad defeats hit way harder when we were fighting for silverware. We're so shit none of it matters anyway.

I watched Lazio-Inter earlier and knew the former still had a chance in the game after the red card.

Here I switched off after the third goal, this is as bad as it gets, the feeling your team doesn't have a chance in the game after 30 minutes is definitely one of the worst for me as a fan.

How on earth did it take so long for the penny to drop?

Today is a footnote. The first year after Fergie was a smack in the face. The lows with LVG hardened the shell, and after Mourinho you don’t really feel it anymore.

We're a shambles of a club, the lack of ambition by those at the top to kick on has filtered down to the players.

No - the worst part is that I don't even feel anything anymore. Not anger or sadness. Just apathy and resignation.

For some posters I imagine it would be getting relegated 50 or so years ago and for others it would be somewhere in the 70s or 80s.

The City 6-1 was a huge sting but it was a one time thing, there have been other terrible results like losing 4-1 to Boro and 5-0 to Chelsea but they were just temporary lapses. This feels like the culmination of so much, and it doesn't look like it will be the end.

Ole in the end will get the boot whether rightly or wrongly, but there is so much wrong at the club beyond OGS.

I can't remember feeling this hopeless as a United fan, there have been defeats, lost cup finals but this one hurts more than anything I can remember.
City 6-1 hurt worse because there was an element of shock. When you’re aware that we’re absolutely shit before a ball’s been kicked there’s less of a sting.

Like most here the 1-6 against City was by far the worst because it was so unexpected. This one will be quickly forgotten because we were due a game like this. Not even close to the worst day.

That match against Fulham under Moyes is still the worst for me.
