That was a complete and utter shambles yet again today. A half decent manager in charge and we win comfortably against a woefully average arsenal
This is true. For me Ole was always a stop gap, sort out the squad for the next manager, he clearly isn't good enough to be the long term man for us. I think he's done his part at this point, but now comes the awkward bit, because he will be losing his job in the near future, and I just want it to come at point where he can leave on a positive note, but that just seems unrealistic now.Aye, I feel the same way. One thing we can be sure of is the that next manager will have a wealth of talent at his disposal when he takes the job, neither Ole or his predecessors were afforded that luxury. We should be grateful to Ole for that.
There is a top side lurking within that United squad, I'm sure of it.
I'd count the Leipzig match as good changes made to effect the game, which I guess, is tactical nous.I think both games showed good tactical nous and the Leipzig game was very satisfying.
But the stupid overreactions on here especially after the Leipzig game were so small time. We beat a team that cost about a 20th of ours at home in the CL group phase and there were threads and wild OTT celebrations on here. It's the kind of small time nonsense we would slate other fans for.
We're very well placed in our group. Wednesday could go either way as you just never know with us.How long before it all goes tits up in the Champions League?
I know mate, if I was a player having a bad game and looked over at him just sitting there, I’d probably just carry on doing the same thing. If the manager shows no urgency or enthusiasm why would the players.Idk why but this also bothers me. Where is the passion? He doesn’t have to be SAF but show that you give a damn.
Two of our ex managers are ahead of us.Even Moyes is above us.
I thought he made some good changes which totally killed them. It wasn't a fantastic first half but we contained them and had a few half chances. The way we finished left a good feeling though which I enjoyed. That was until I came on here and saw the small time OTT wild celebrations which were mostly done as petty point scoring, if we're being honest.I'd count the Leipzig match as good changes made to effect the game, which I guess, is tactical nous.
But if we want to be negative, we were once again camped in our own half for the first 45, and barely did anything in the 15 minutes after.
Bar the goal, I was bored out of my mind.
Is that what is considered a good performance for us? Park the bus for a half, barely any chances, dull, enduring, and come alive for the final 25?
I don't understand this laying foundation thing, don't misunderstand me mate I'm not saying that in a condescending way.Still maintaining hes the guy who potentially lays the foundation for a better guy to come in and potentially take the team to the next level. Not a bad thing at all but I get the feeling we’re witnessing the peak of his powers, with that 3rd place finish.
If it was Jose or LVG who were 1 draw and 3 defeats at home in the league (and only 2 goals scored), this forum would be voting 90% out.
Yep, results usually define performances or rather the perceived performances. If we had won a penalty and won today while playing the same way we did obviously the reaction would be completely different.I thought he made some good changes which totally killed them. The Newcastle one for me was mental. We were utter wank until Ole introduced DvB and Pogba and we had a good last 20 minutes. Yet the wild reactions on here and revisonisnmn about the match was twilight zone esque. I had posters telling me we were brilliant for 90 minutes and blew them away. One even told me it was one of Ole's best ever games. I mean, talk about twisting of facts. I don't particularly think any of this is good enough and the fact Ole - as Manchester United manager - needs threads made about him after winning matches we should be winning, speaks volumes about his reign.
The late goals masking an unimpressive performance remind me of our good start under Mourinho in 2017/18. It looks good for a while but you need more than that in order for it to last.Is that what is considered a good performance for us? Park the bus for a half, barely any chances, dull, enduring, and come alive for the final 25?
I think there's some basis for the argument that he's built the squad well for someone else, but at the end of the day, no two managers are alike. Another one comes in, has a look at Maguire and says a slow CB isn't right for his style. Or that he wants an attacking right back - sorry AWB. And that's 130m down the drain - or two players which will force the new manager to adapt and play differently, which is obviously not what you want when you bring a new guy in.Can you tell me with conviction which manager would be the best fit to replace him based on the playing style (or lack thereof) we have, bcoz I don't know if we are a team that keeps the ball or are defensive counter based or high energy pressing team or anything else.
Remember Jose fans after he beat Juve away and ended their home record in Europe. The caf that entire week was obnoxious though these last 2 weeks come close. Both celebrating single game results in a competition we don't expect to win while we sit in the bottom half of our domestic league. Especially as the next disappointing display of inconsistency is always around the corner.I think both games showed good tactical nous and the Leipzig game was very satisfying.

Aye, I thought of the Juve game alright during the week. It did remind me of that. I remember a thread made about Jose acting like a nob after the match to the Juve fans and the over kill hero worship he recieved.Remember Jose fans after he beat Juve away and ended their home record in Europe. There’s a low bar for our managers not to be sacked in comparison to other top clubs, 6 points from next 4 games will be enough to keep him plodding along. Champions League results will help his cause as well.Doesn't seem to be any serious pressure on him. Ridiculous. He looks completely comfortable.
Yeah say that to Hassenhuttl or Rose or Poch who absolutely has/ had nothing to spend on. Every manager don't need millions to make it work.Sacking Ole will make you doubters feel better for a bit but then when you realise whoever is mad enough to take this job had to work with Woodward n Judge you will want them sacked too soon enough.
This cycle will keep spinning. People say eventually they will get it right. They won't because the people responsible for this decision are part of the problem. A big part.
Ole will be latest fall guy for Woodward n Glazers. Who is next? Poch? Allegri? Ancelotti?
I can’t see us stringing more than three wins in a row together this season to be honest.I cannot see the board sacking him even if we lose against everton. Knowing our history with Ole, we will go on another run. But ultimately would I be happy if come February we are again fighting for top4. I wouldn't. This is a shocking start to the season and fitness excuses need to stop now.
The same Poch many Spurs fans were saying time was up before he got the boot?Yeah say that to Hassenhuttl or Rose or Poch who absolutely has/ had nothing to spend on. Every manager don't need millions to make it work.
Aah, the 'no trophy' argument yet people want to stick with Ole . The irony !The same Poch many Spurs fans were saying time was up before he got the boot?
Not good enough to a team that has won 1 league Cup in quarter of a century but good enough for United?
This Poch to be the saviour stuff is BS. He's never won anything either and was shown up numerous times as Spurs coach. Even Ole got the better of him.
While I don't like Woodward I honestly don't know what he has to do with the current league form. We have a good team. Compare our main lineup to Arsenal's one today, absolutely no comparison. We're better than them in every position bar Auba. We have enough quality in the team to finally challenge for something big. What more do we need exactly ? A 120m Sancho ?Sacking Ole will make you doubters feel better for a bit but then when you realise whoever is mad enough to take this job had to work with Woodward n Judge you will want them sacked too soon enough.

Really? The thing with Ole is that his contract expires at the end of this season.
I get what you’re saying. I was 6 years old in 99 so my main childhood memories of Ole are mostly of him being a very injury prone bench player, so maybe im not as blinded by nostalgia as a lot of people. It's not so weird when you think about it.
Ole is a club legend who built a rapport with the fans through years of dedicated service to the club. Jose is an egotistical, self-serving narcissist, dedicated to the betterment of himself and himself alone. There is no comparison between the two.
And you're right, many of us have had our opinions affected by a misguided sense of loyalty where Ole is concerned. I can't bring myself to drag his name through the mud even now.
He is 2 years in the job. It is a long time in modern game, actually it is long enough to be worried about not being able to break organised defence.Sacking Ole will make you doubters feel better for a bit but then when you realise whoever is mad enough to take this job had to work with Woodward n Judge you will want them sacked too soon enough.
