If that was the case you'd think Ole would be integrating him in to the team somewhat still. Right now he just gets games with the other unused players in cups or whatever and maybe a couple of minutes at the end of a game here or there. It seems like a silly signing, even Mata is mostly preferred to him in games that matter.
Mata plays on the right, if he started in the box to box role over VDB, I'd be worried.

I think that's unfair to say that against Watford. He played with Lingard / Mata / James ahead of him - even Pogba failed to create with those guys ahead of him most of the time.

Donny did create the clear goal scoring chance for Mata though lets not forget.

He needs to play in CM behind Bruno and lets see how it works. Do people forget he played against Leipzig in the 5-0? he was a huge reason for our quick tempo football that game.
This is fair. I can get behind him if it’s certain he is more than just a recycle possession sort of player. It’s also very important to know that Oles trusted duo Fred and Mctominay offer a specific attribute necessary for the league which is stamina and aggression. We all know Fred brings the energy while mctominay brings the height/mobility. It’s going to be very hard for VDB to break into that. Mind you I’m not considering him as an attacking midfielder because I don’t think he personally is.

He'll have a good chance to impress against Liverpool on Sunday. He'll no doubt start it, and if he puts in a good performance against a team of Liverpool's calibre, then Ole would struggle not to offer him more chances in the league.

If we want Bruno to last the season, then he's going to have to give Donny more chances otherwise the former will burn out real quick.

In the next three games we’ve got Fulham, Liverpool in the cup and Sheffield Utd. I’d full expect him to see at least 90 minutes in one of those games, hopefully two. It’s up to him once again to impress, If he doesn’t then I’m sorry but it’s back to the bench you go. That’s how it should work at a club like ours - we can’t just play people because they’re good, they have to be better than what’s current already working, which is a hard job.

The issue is that we are doing good at the moment without him now so it doesn't make sense to try something different if there is risk of failure in the league. I think his time will be next season while this season will be used as learning process to understand how his team mates are playing and adapt with the league and new culture.

Or may be Ole is just signing him for Pogba's replacement and in the summer he might sign DM or holding midfielder and plays 433 with Donny, DM, Bruno.

Hasn't played a single league game over the festive period and now we're in mid Jan. Surely something must be up?

He's just not very good.
In my opinion it simply comes down to Solksjaer not having faith in him or not knowing how or where to fit him in regularly. He's a far better midfielder than McTominay for instance who's getting an easy ride at United

It won't be easy for him to do well and impress when he only gets picked once in a while, I feel Ole could have done better with his game management.

He's a good player. No one can convince me he's not good enough to get some minutes for this United side particularly with our forward players looking as bad as they are. How does he not get any minutes?

we won a difficult game. Our midfielders did well. Couldn’t care less if he doesn’t get on the pitch when we are winning.

Imagine being a midfielder and be substitution to McT? That must be depressing stuff for a player

They have different roles. We’re not exactly going to put him in instead of Mctominay when we need to sure up our midfield defensively.

Jesus this is the top thread after the match?! Pogba and Bruno are undroppable at the moment. There just isn't any room for this guy, which makes the purchase a bit weird but it's not exactly costing us.

Problems with his attitude maybe? I’m finding it bizarre just how little he has featured so far, and there aren’t any signs he’ll be getting more game time in the near future.

We aren't a charity for giving players a chance. Better options are ahead of him with every game crucial.

He has a chance in the FA cup. He didn't take the one against Watford (even taking in to account James and Lingard) were around him. It is up to him to give Ole the selection headache.

It sounds like you've seen a lot of Donny play so fair enough

But if Ole is smart not to play him, why sign him?
No idea, mate. Either he was a board signing or Ole lost faith in him after watching him up close. Still wish we had spent double what we spent on Donny for Grealish like Ole obviously wanted. I'd be so much more confident with him here.

Play him on Sunday. It’s perfect game to see what he has got and Bruno needs a rest.
