1. He obviously says “voodoo shit” and appears to have accepted that’s what he said. Please can people stop suggesting he said “wooden shed” ;

2.Saying go and do voodoo shit to a black person with no context that they have ever engaging in voodoo is obviously racist;

3. In this case, there is context as he’s obviously referencing the Moshiri story. However, what we don’t know is what discussions they had about it at Man Utd. I don’t think it’s clearly racist but the context of prior discussions could make it so (for example, if Lukaku had told Zlatan previously that it was completely made up by Moshiri and was something which really upset him as it stereotyped him based on his colour).

4. Describing Lukaku as a donkey is not racist - it’s a perfectly normal insult based on football ability to someone white or black.

Good post, what I said but more concise!

Even the donkey comment. A lot of white people constantly compare black people to animals - not good to hear.
No. Not remotely problematic calling any footballer a donkey. Also almost every player I can think of, other than Lukaku, who's been labelled that by fans has been white.

Zlatan is truly the king of wind ups. :lol: Whether he said "wooden shed", "voodoo shit" or " your touch is shit", it clearly worked and rattled Lukaku.

People trying to claim Ibrahimovic is racist for this incident are just making themselves look silly. There has probably been personal issues between the two players since they were still at our club. I'd personally like to see more ferocity and personality from our own players in the future, the very best teams are never nice and friendly.

I'm beginning to think it's problematic for some because the word donkey looks and sounds a bit like monkey.

AC icon Ibrahimovic, 39, was seen and heard shouting: "Go do your voodoo s***, go do your voodoo s***, little donkey."

Lukaku responded with “I’ll f*** you and your wife”.

The ex-Everton and Chelsea ace then charged at the Swede and blasted “Let’s go inside you b****” before both players were booked.

Handbags at dawn type shite.
Ok, so Rom is bi?

And lots of white players have been called a donkey. It’s an insult aimed at the lack of finesse, not race.

‘Voodoo shit’ is racist, no doubt about it.
It's not when Rom actually practices voodoo or witch craft. It's been said before at his Everton time. But for now I agree it's a discriminating remark until there's evidence Rom does do voodoo shet.

Yeah worked so well that both got a yellow card and the "king of wind ups" was stupid enough to get a second yellow while the rattled Lukaku won the game. Really worked brilliant for Zlatan.

Don't think Zlatan is a racist but his comment was inappropriate. You can also say something with a racist touch despite clearly being no racist.

@United Junkie
Brilliant argument. No, wait a second, Lukaku has said it is not true and even threatened to sue them. Or is everything that has ever been said about you is just the truth?

What Zlatan did is fair insults. He used something he knew would wind him up, to wind him up. "Go call your mother" is not abusive of his mother, simply part of the wind up. Like saying "go run to mommy"

What Lukaku did is threatening behaviour and also misogynistic. And Lukaku actually abused someone's mother. He also, several times, invited Zlatan to fight.

This was all after Lukaku started fighting with AC players over a simple foul and pushed them around when they initially tried to calm him down.

But we have several pages trying to determine if Zlatan is a racist.

Lukaku is a knob, started it, got wound up like a kipper and now wants the sympathy vote.

It works most times, you can't always win after all. Both players said inappropriate stuff, that's generally what happens when you start an argument or fight with someone you dislike.

Firstly not every insult that winds up is fair game, for instance racial slurs are usually used to wind up but it's never right to use them.

Secondly, did Lukaku start it? I haven't seen the start of the incident anywhere, I assumed it was Zlatan's words that set him off?

Voodoo is a religious practise, how do you associate it in any way to racism?

He's making sign of cross on the pitch while claiming he gets his answers from voodoo. Not only a knob but a massive poser and insult to any religion.

I had no idea voodoo was only a black thing as many on here will have you believe. In my opinion, this isn't racist. Let me guess the ones who are up in arms about it again are white people.
I'm sure white people are welcome to follow voodoo. Do you know what it is without googling?

So you assume your assumptions are the truth? Hilarious. Lukaku started a situation with a Milan player first, Ibrahimovic most probably told him to feck off or something similar and then we got the shot of Lukaku approaching Zlatan's face in an aggressive manner. After that, we heard all the insults we factually have knowledge of, but you can't just state your own assumptions as the truth.

Come on.

Do you think the Everton board member would've said the same thing about a contract negotiation with Leighton Baines?
Exactly. There's a lot of hypocrites here. Most people associate voodoo with Africa. Some folks on this forum are trying so hard to be perceived as PC.

Ask the average person on the street and they'll instantly associate 'voodoo' with 'Africa'. You know that and I know that. Stop trying so hard to be a try-hard PC guy.

That's not really the point.

I'm no expert on voodoo by any means, but I'm fairly certain practising it is not limited to black people alone. That said, I'm not sure how telling someone to go do voodoo shit (if that is indeed what was said) could be considered racism.

Ha! Exactly my thought when watching. Reminded me of a Key & Peele skit.

Being from America, when I hear voodoo it makes me think of crazy rituals done with black magic. Oops, can I say black magic or am I now a racist?

I was asking a question my man.

lukaku was fouled and went ballistic starting on anyone around him
Cheers, for some reason I can't find the full video of the incident. Did Zlatan foul him or he just popped off?

Thinking about it more I'd actually pay good money to see them settle this in a celebrity fight or some shit.
