Really good on what metric? I'd say Klopp has done a really good to phenomenal job at Liverpool for example. He's won them their first title in decades along with a CL. Just wondering when people claim Ole is doing a really good job what standards we're talking about here.
Didn’t know Klopp did all that in his first 2 seasons. Klopp finished 4th twice in his first two full seasons with 0 trophies.

I said Ole’s done a really good job so far. Stabilised the club, got rid of toxic players, got rid of ageing players, improved the football, improved the feel around the club, guided us to 3rd in his first full season and is currently 2nd in his second season. Improved multiple players, signed Bruno Fernandes. Brought through and signed players for the good of the future of the club, I could go on.. Before you mention trophies, the season isn’t over yet.

They dont want the best and most progressive managers out there, because those managers will want to win trophies and will demand, transfers and staff maybe even bringing in their own coaches etc, the way the Glazers have set things up now they have a yes man in every position of the club. No drama and CL money from 4th spot every year. Thats all they want. We will be a top 4 club from now on, probably never win the league or CL ever again.
Sure you OleOut lot were moaning about how much Ole has spent

Everyone saying “wait until the end of the season until we judge him” why don’t you take a leaf out of your own book and not call for him to be sacked every win, loss or draw. Hypocrites.

Think it’s too early. He’s not exactly going to leave us so why not wait til the end of the season? We love giving out contracts prematurely.
Quite.

One of the main reasons Woodward lost respect was him giving out contracts like confetti. There's no real rush. Ole loves the club and I'm sure he would not run away and let the club down even if he won the treble as a manager.

No harm in waiting. Loads of potential harm in giving him it now.

Shows the club isn't about planning but perception of progress.

Smart team waits till the season is over.

The main reason I can think of him being a long term deal is to give assurances to any new upcoming transfers chosen by Ole.

I actually agree we should wait until the end of the season, as far as I’m aware that’s what we’re going to do, he hasn’t signed anything yet. It’s basically just speculation at the moment, do you agree that people shouldn’t be calling for his head until we finish the season then?

At this stage for sure just see it out then decide.

Though I won't lie if this time next week we where out of the EL and Fa cup you can see why loads would understandably flip. It would be a disaster.

If we were to get knocked out of Europe on Thursday and the FA Cup on Sunday, surely to god they couldn't give him a new contract? The club's DNA is winning, it's been that way under Sir Matt, Sir Alex....fair enough you can say we have been in a rebuild mode but it doesn't take 8 years to rebuild a club when he's been there for nearly three years now.

Should wrap up the deal for Haaland before season’s end then

Why do other clubs able to get deals done before season ends and not us?

if there is a player we should get before Ole’s faith, it is Haaland.

This. People act like even the great Jürgen Klopp came in and won everything with Liverpool on his first day, almost like he's the messiah. It took him what? 3-4 years to even challenge?

Agreed but give him that deal after the last day of the season
We've got what? 9-10 games left of the season? Surely they have to iron out the potential wrinkles in the contract, it hasn't been announced by anyone yet, all we have is media rumours he is going to sign, what if they had a meeting saying they are content with the progress shown so far, and if everything stays the same or better until the end of season, United are willing to offer him an improved contract.

In the transfer threads: "Why don't we work on contracts during the season, so we can sign them in the first day of the window and get a preseason?!?!"
In here: "Why are we working on contracts during the season, we want it done on last day of season and announced the day after!!!"

You realize the difference between working on transfers for new players and working on the current manager's contract, right? Because your last paragraph makes no sense whatsoever.

There's not even a reason to work on his contract now let alone sign it. He's not going anyway. Not like other clubs queuing on his door trying to get him or that he would want to leave. Why the rush then? Just wait.

Lot of that isn't true though is it. Firstly, the manager has barely anything to do with moving on players, if you want someone to praise for that go look at the usual suspects for criticism - Woodward and Judge. Quality of football has barely improved at all on Mourinho's second season, and is getting worse not better. Performances and consistency have been atrocious this season, like they were for the previous season before Bruno arrived. Signed Bruno yes, but also signed AWB and Maguire, massive wastes of money on players who don't remotely fit the profile Ole should have been looking for given his tactical preferences. Made Maguire captain, another big mistake. Bottled out of every cup competition. Bottled out of the CL group stage in hugely embarrassing fashion. Currently on target to not improve on the points haul from last season.

A couple of players have improved in the last two years, like Shaw, but is that because of Ole or just because they're playing regularly and avoiding injury? Pretty fair bet it's the latter. Meanwhile, why have the players everyone expected to improve under Ole - Rashford and Martial namely - either stagnated or massively declined.

Wow you're really high on the Ole hate. Almost disagree with everything you've said but I imagine nothing I say will convince you, so enjoy being miserable.

Great move by the club.

You dont go into a summer with transfers with questionmarks about the manager.

This is the only sensible thing

I'm still withholding judgement on him until the end of the season. But does get tedious reading how everything he's touched has turned to gold when so much of it is clearly not the case, and some of the stuff he gets the most praise for he actually has so little to do with. The only tangible improvements anyone should care about are if we stop bottling out of cup competitions, and if we show a decent improvement on the shitty 66 points haul of last season. If we can't do either then it's nothing other than failure on Ole's part and clear proof we're making no real progress at all.

Plus, realistically this is by far the biggest job he can get. If he walked this summer he wouldn't get a job at any other elite club, whatever he took would be a step down, so unless he feels that he's done with management, I really can't see him leaving until he's pushed

What is it about March and Utd announcing things to do with Ole staying on after a big result, so many of us called this exact story breaking after we beat City and looks like we have been proven right again. Clearly this is the 2021 version of Paris in 2019 and yet again that toy story puppet has been caught up in the euphoria and jumped in too quickly.

Surely, there can be no other reason to do this now than planning for the summer transfer activity? If this is part of a strategy to lure Haaland over from BVB this summer, I'd be more than happy.

This place moans when good news is leaked after a bad result, and now we're moaning when it's leaked after a good result too? Why am I not surprised.

Ole can't even teach his players simple pass and move tactics, we could have the best players in the world in each position and Ole would probably still have them playing the same style of awful football.

OK. I think I'll not spend my Sunday interacting, thank you.

End of the financial tax year. I look forward to him further improving the team.

Ah our summer strategy. What was it last year sign 3 players on deadline day, one who was on a free and had been available already for 2 months, one who is already out on loan and a third who looks promising

I don’t think new contract really matters, club is always happy with managers when they qualify for Champions League, when they don’t qualify they get sacked. The length of the contract is meaningless, all that matters is compensation is capped,
hopefully that will be the case.

There's literally nothing to gain from doing it now instead of May. And I like Ole and don't think he's got enough credit for the tough job he has.

Like the Ole out lot are saying if results don't go well in the cups over next few weeks giving him a new deal now will look so bad.

We literally have no reason to rush this. Let's get 2nd place sewn up and hopefully get to a final and then we can do this. That would be progress.

this feels a bit like the Mourinho contract we regretted

I feel Ole has more to prove before he deserves this
