F1 2021 Season

Lewis Hamilton moaning about red bulls rear wing so FIA are putting in more stringent tests to stop it?

Its basically a big bunch of cry babies who whinge like feck if they don't have the best of everything.

Instead of being innovative, teams basically get told to just do as they're told.

No, the FIA have been aware of Flexi wings for ages. Red Bull are the most obvious ones who use the approach, the FIA have been trying to get on top of it for years. Even last season they were looking into Red Bull's Flexi wing approach.

So, not the 'cry babies' approach you think, just the nature of the F1 game. By your logic you could argue the same about DAS.

I still think Alonso would be up there with Hamilton out of the current drivers though he's getting older.

Max will be a great driver, everyone knows that. He's already good. Merc wanted him. He can match Hamilton on pace and in most races. Hamilton probably has the edge in most people's eyes, you can't negate the amount of experience Hamilton has. Experience usually brings consistency.

This could be one of Max most important years as he will likely fall just short but learn so much just as Hamilton did in his first year.

When Hamilton goes, Max will dominate. Let's hope there is even competition with the new rules giving likes of Leclerc, Russell, and Norris a chance!
Alonso at his peak lost to a rookie Hamilton.

Now that he's out of his peak, he's barely matching Ocon, saying that he would be able to compete with Hamilton is a dream.

Hamilton got beat by Button. What's your point?

And in any case, everyone cries about everything first chance they get. In such a competitive sport, every tiny detail counts, so if you missed something a competitor does have and there is the tiniest chance you can get it removed, or even get your competitor penalized for it, then of course you're going for it. It's kinda why there are regulations in the first place - or at least, the way regulations pay attention to tiny design details encourages complaining about them.

Whilst the complaints are as much designed around gaining a competitive or equal footing on the regulation, the more important part for the teams is that it provides clarification from the FIA on how that part of the regulations is interpreted or deemed permissible. Often overlooked.

That Alonso hasn't shown anything this year that he's comparable to Hamilton? Thought that was obvious.
No - what was your point by stating Alonso was beat by Hamilton during his prime?

It's to show how ridiculous the statement that Alonso right now is comparable to Lewis given how it all turned out the last time they were driving on the same team and Alonso is no longer the same driver as he was whereas Lewis has shown race after race that he's still at the top of his game.

There's a good video measuring the amount the wing moves by in comparison to the Mercedes (and it's a lot). What's interesting is how much the fin on the Mercedes flexes and moves about - nothing is done by accident on these cars so just as the wing movement is deliberate on the Red Bull, so is the fin flexing and moving on the Mercedes.

That looks fantastic, wouldn’t surprise me if Lando and Ric stick it right near the front either

Delighted with the Norris news. As a Mclaren fan I followed him from the F3 days, the close battle in F2 with Russell and then seeing him step up into F1, I have no doubts he's going to be amongst the top drivers over the next 10 years.

I just hope Mclaren can give him a good enough car to keep him there.

PS the Monaco livery is stunning, I'd love for them to keep it for the whole season. I like the Papaya colour but it being purely orange is a bit too much, I like how it's broken up with the grey.

That's great news!

Lando doesn't get enough credit because he didn't come through the Mercedes/Ferrari/Red Bull pipeline.

Yes very strong driver. The UK is a hotbed for sport talent right now. The Football team has a lot of young talent and there is Williams / Norris coming up to replace Hamilton. Somebody there is doing something right when it comes to sports / talent development

Not sure, I think he has the skills to compete for a championship but not convinced McLaren is the place to do so.
