I disagree. Could you see lukaku playing Greenwood in with an outside of the boot ball? No, neither could I.
but we’re going round in circles so let’s agree to disagree
He has his moments, I remember a beautifully flighted ball in his last season from the right. But I’m not going to argue Lukaku is pleasing on the eye. So far enough.

Real may get Martial on a loan only as a stop-gap for a season till they get Mbappe the following summer.

If both the Martial and Coman rumours are true, I’d look to see if there’s a swap deal there. I don’t view Martial as being a legitimate #9 for us long term, and Coman is a better winger. Cavani, Greenwood and Rashford can handle the centre forward spot, with Sancho, Rashford, Diallo and Coman competing for the other forward spots. Sell James to help fund DM.

I realize, of course, that it will never happen.

Love the guy. This was the year for him to prove last year wasn't a fluke.

We all do. That's why most of us doesn't mind if he is staying for another season.

But next season is the last one, for sure. If he feck it up again, it's time to say goodbye. :(

Nah it’s time to pull the pin now, the team as a whole needs to get this right and I don’t think Ole can afford the gamble
He isn’t the right fit for us

I wouldn't mind either..

Sir Alex would have axed him this season to be honest. Ruthless.

Always have that knack of selling his forwards after an underwhelming season.

Sure he had squad depth then. We barely have 16 players who can be relied upon.

dont mind it as long as it’s after this season. United would lack the depth needed upfront and gives time to buy a replacement ST next summer.

That or Martial regains his form and proves why he shouldn’t be sold. Either way win-win scenario for United as long as it doesn’t happen this year.

It makes no sense for Real to go for him short of a loan, they're not going to tie up years of salary for Martial when they're aiming for Mbappe. Doesn't compute.

Did we pay part of Sanchez’s wage when we let go of him to Inter?

I wonder if we do this with De Gea or Martial.

While he was on loan, yes.

Also from what i can find, Sanchez under his new contract earns 95k/week at Inter which is significantly less than he did with us (350k/week). So footballer taking big pay cuts is not completely unheard of

I think it was reported we gave him a few million to go, plus I think the tax rate in Italy for foreign earners is much lower.

Just because he has a resting bitch face doesn’t mean he’s disinterested. Even we if sign Sancho, we’re short on options, if one or two of our forwards get injured. Depth wins out over the course of a season and you need players like Martial.
Yeah, nothing to do with the fact that he plays well when we sell his competition and he flops when we sign competition for his spot.

We're better off relying on players from the academy than him if we want actual depth in the team.

This. Martial only seems happy when hes a nailed on starter with no one else threatening his place in the first XI. Which would be perfectly fine if he was a world class player with consistency, but since he lacks the latter its incredibly detrimental to the team when hes having one of his bad runs

Not sure about this
Andy Cole had a bad couple of years and SAF stuck with him
It’s all down to if Ole has lost trust with him or not
Cole was Fergie's record signing so was naturally going to persist.
He also believed Cole had the mentality to succeed at United.

But yes I think Ole will have a big say whether Martial stays or goes...

If Inter lose Lukaku, he'd be a pretty nice replacement there. He can play alongside Martinez. Even Juventus could use him if they cannot get Jesus.

I dont, I find him frustrating and infuriating. Im not a huge fan of confidence players whos form dives off a cliff when something goes wrong

Aren't Inter completely skint?

His options are pretty limited due to the financial situation Covid has put clubs under. I just keep saying PSG for everyone we are selling but that's mainly because we know they've got money.

I think his time is up. Not clinical enough through the middle, not really effective off the left. Would predominately be on the bench and I don’t think he has the drive to do it for us. So ya, leave him find new ground and let us move on.

They could sell Lukaku for ~ 90M, spend half of it on Tony and pocket the difference.

Yes, that's why I'm willing to give him one more year, as he just started to be our main striker for 2 years? 1 year bad, 1 year good.

This is the last one, as it should be.

By the time he was signed Cole had already proven he was a reliable goal scorer. In parts he was playing well, he just couldn't put the ball away. Thankfully Neil Ruddock sorted that out by realigning his legs.

Martial hasn't proven anything to anyone to be given the benefit of any doubt here. The day he was walking against Sheffield Utd while the team was losing and the game went on around him is the last time he should have played for the club.

its a shame - we had a good period of time being able to send them our cast offs. I wonder how much they ended up paying Sanchez?

hopefully we can offload a couple of players to Roma before they sack Jose.

I think he'll have another good season before he reaches 35. Well worth our time and investment.

Martial had 35 goal contributions (23 g 12 a) in 2019/20. We could’ve used Martial off the bench against Villarreal. While the thought of academy players coming in and making an impact is ideal, it’s far from reality for most young players. Not every player can make an impact like Rashford or Greenwood, and most of these highly touted academy players need a loan. Like him or not, Martial is a very good squad option and we need depth to compete with city.
