This whole thing of Kane saying there is a "gentleman's agreement" in place is ridiculous.Without documentation it becomes a he said/she said scenario. Levy will say he promised no such thing & to be honest I doubt that he did.
I bet it's not ridiculous to Kane, and that's all that matters. Things must've been pretty solid between he and Levy and there's been no denial of the agreement on Levy's side. Kane, partly from good faith, landed himself a terrible contract from the outset being paid below the going rate for a striker of his calibre and lost literally millions in the process, this all being good faith, so now it's Levy's turn to pay that back in kind, he does his star player over? You might think that's prudent in business or from a financial POV, but your relationship goes sour with such a key and influential member of the team and untold damage can be done, both to his performance level, but also with what he eventually chooses to reveal and expose. Any half-decent player going to Spurs at the moment is going to have options and I'd also wonder how easy it is to get word on the grapevine from one player to another in these globalised times.
Levy thinking he's pulled a fast one would be short-term thinking with mid and long-term consequences if Kane is that way inclined. Perhaps he underestimates Kane, or perhaps all he sees is keeping the player above everything else, but he's essentially treading across a minefield he's laid but forget where he put the bloody things with his actions and there's nothing genial or impressive about that.
I knew Spurs had a lot of debt but didn’t realize that they had the most debt of any club in the world. Over £1bn. They don’t have Man Utd / Real type of revenue or stature. I think they are in a tough spot - won’t be able to pay top wages or pay transfer fee. Also keep hiring expensive managers who are expensive to sack. Should probably cash out on Kane and start taking punts on hidden talents to be viable in the future.
You can understand that the punts route is potentially a road to ruin.
@GlastonSpur really should be in here to explain to us what's gone wrong over there given his boasting over the last few years.
