I would much rather give Pogba free role in our team than Bruno. Bruno needs to be brought back to Earth next season. His statistics will continue their downward trajectory and match his usually erratic performances.
Now this is what I call a Pogba fan

He gave the ball away once, so what. Can people not just appreciate he had an exceptional game and has probably been France top player in the tournament. There exit means he gets a rest, ready for pre season, and if he leaves, his performances should add a few extra mill. I get pissed at Pogbas laziness at United, but sometimes we expect him to do everything 100%. The Pogba today bossed that game, and was unfortunate to give the ball away for the Swiss 3rd goal. Shyt happens.

If De Bryune had the kind of game and tournament Pogba had, people would be raving about it. None of this 'oh but he lost the ball once' - De Bruyne loses the ball often too. How many chances did he create for his team, how many amazing passes did he hit, how many great dribbles and controls did he have? Before even getting to the goal. But again it's "oh he's inconsistent, see he lost the ball once!".

I hope he does leave because I'm tired of reading the same narrative over and over again from pundits and a visible section of United fans. It's nauseatingly tiring. It was the exact same thing with Nani, some people decide he's x, y or z and no matter what he does people won't change their opinion on him.
Im with you on this. Certain players get this kind of treatment constantly no matter what they do. The stuff with Pogba's agent doesn't help but there's certainly a coordinated agenda against him and it begins with the British media.

The fine print everybody always ignores. He is so much of a child all his great work during the game was undone because he couldnt keep it simple and not easily give up possession. He will never change this aspect of his game.
How did he 'easily' give up possession for Switzerland's 3rd? It was just good pressing, not sure how people have turned it into a case of him overplaying when he only had time to take a single touch.

It's just lying to suit an agenda. You'd think he was doing keep-ups in his own area the way they make it sound.

Did think it was funny in commentary the suggestion that Pogba flourishes for France because they give him more responsibility.

Err, no. Quite the opposite. He flourishes when he has no responsibility. And when they have a lead to protect he can't be relied on to keep it simple.
Counts for fcuk all when they all go home with nothing.

It's still insane we have to go through these basic things
He lost the ball that led to the equalizer
Do none of us here do anything meaningful in life where one error can create a massive negative effect on the outcome?
E.g. In an orchestra, you can be perfect and then if you enter a beat early in the finale, it ruins everything
E.g. In a stageplay you are fantastic all the way through and in the finale you just forget all your lines

You can be fantastic and still make mistakes big enough to be criticized
Sometimes I think it’s less of an agenda but pogba is the star of the show and creates headlines, I don’t think Keane or Neville have any real reason to have an agenda against pogba, like I said earlier, viera agreed with keanes views so I don’t think Keane was talking out of his arse with some kind of agenda, it’s just what he saw. He praised pogbas game, said his quality can’t be doubted but had a little Dig about giving the ball away. I had similar thoughts before even hearing Keane speak.
I think the balanced view is there is some truth to their criticisms (even Viera agreed) and it's not an isolated incident, he makes himself an easy target. Couple that with France being huge favourites against a very average Switzerland team and it's a media/clickbait bonanza to blame Pogba. Keane's criticism was essentially that he is a great player but isn't consistently brilliant which the best players are and I kind of agree to be honest, as United fans we know that more than most. Tonight wasn't his fault but he's a big player for them and people will focus on his error, rathe than all the chances he created and the wonderful goal.

If NT performances are what separate men from boys, Pogba is a man. What is a bigger responsibility than the NT? Some greats in football history are more notable for their NT performances than anything else. He has always been great for France, like in the 2018 World Cup too. And he was by far France's best player today and in the tournament. If there is one France player that goes out with his head high, it's him.

Losing a ball and suffering a goal is something that can happen to everyone. See Rivaldo against Nigeria in 1996 Olympics. Or Messi against City in the first leg of UCL Round of 16 in 2015.

Even Zidane, France's best player ever and consistenly a star for them, was often very inconsistent in a weekly basis for his clubs.

Was their best player of the tournament by quite some margin
I'd argue that he was performing at such a high level that he should have been, based on events so far, the player of the tournament forget Frances best player. Completely let down by his team mates on this occasion. Feel for him, would have been great to see Pogba continue to have a special tournament. Shame.

Not sure what the issue is. Pogba had a great tournament and capped it off with a wonderful strike tonight...yet his team still lost.

He was on full display tonight, however Switzerland happily stood off him for the most part of the match and allowed him to dictate from deep or wherever. He got into a lot of familiar positions and situations we're all accustomed to by now. When Switzerland was going for it late, Pogba got robbed of possession in the middle of the park. Transition led to the tying goal. Sucks and it shouldn't overshadow what he did, but it cannot be ignored.

France's shit first half was more because they went with an untraditional back 3 and immediately changed it when there was a streaker and then half time by taking out Lenglet. They matched up better with the Swiss across the pitch and it pushed them back a bit, creating more space because players had to pick up another player going forward.

The central midfield of Pogba and Kante were too open than they traditionally have been with a 3 man midfield as they had a lot of work to do and they lost a lot of their shape off the ball at times. Compared to the WC or earlier this tournament, France were a bit open and less in control. They deviated from 3 central mids and it showed.

Pogba was the best player on the pitch tonight. Expecting him to do what he did tonight at club level for United is fine, because he's put on some damn world class performances throughout the past couple of seasons. But it gets lost in the negativity and vitriol some people have against United, even while claiming their supporters of the club.

I think he was definitely on course to win the player of the tournament.

It's a shame for him. He was really let down by Mbappe tonight.

Really was. I'd have loved to see him in this form in the semis/finals. Hope he starts next season for us in this vein.

Pogba has been miles better than Bruno for about 6 months. Let him play his favoured position for a bit. Bruno can do a job deeper or on the wing.
He's miles better full stop, not even close. If he is surrounded by intelligence he is off the charts.

You're not getting many players like Rabiot but if Pogba was the third midfielder alongside Fred and say ignoring rivalries it was possible to have got an intelligent hybrid like Wijnaldum who can seamlessly switch between sitting/covering when Pogba is advanced and getting forward when Pogba drops then that's when Pogba can dominate games like Fernandes never does.

Then Martial who is far more on Pogba's wavelength playing from the left instead of Rashford and you have a totally different team.

I'm not being paid for my football insights on national television. I'm just a fan on an internet forum. I'm talking about people forming their opinions on players based on what these pundits are saying. When they clearly have an agenda against Pogba.
Neville has an agenda, always has been against Pogba.. I don’t think Keane does. Being grumpy & miserable is his thing. He gives Pogba plenty of praise but questions his work rate & discipline. It’s fair, and I’m a Pogba fan.

I agree with you, but prepare for an avalanche of abuse, because that’s an incredibly unpopular opinion on here.

I see nothing different personally. It's the same Pogba with us. Guy is great with the ball in his feet, he's capable of ridiculous passes and shots, but off the ball he's mostly a passenger, and his carelessness some times is a problem.

I really don't get the narrative some are pushing that France's Pogba is different from United's Pogba. They are both the same, with all his qualities and problems.

A solid 9 performance from Pogba tonight. Controlling the game, scores a banger, almost got a decisive assist had Mbappe burried that, and score on PKs. You cant ask more than that.

You put too much emphasis on International tournament. I dont recall Frank Lampard or steven Gerrard ever having any good international tournament, heck Rooney was a big disappointment for England except EURO 2004, do you think these 3 legends were boys compare to the likes of El Hadji Diouf and Milan Baros?
I do enjoy international tournament but international tournament isnt the best measurement to judge a player.

It's not insane. You are being extremely picky. God forbid a footballer lose ball once a match. Orchestra and stage play comparison is so far fetched that I don't think I have to even respond about that.

Mistake wasn't as big and losing possession in middle of pitch can happen to absolutely any player. In the same game there were multiple instances of the same event by other players. Bruno lose possession for us multiple times and misplace pass all the time. But yet he is the sweetheart of this forum. It's just double standards when it comes to Pogba.

Happy to see France dumped out and pogba doing well. Now all we need is to find a buyer and convince him to leave

The bar for most ridiculous post in this thread is a high one to clear but that comparison did it.

 Players getting dispossessed is normal, it happens all the time. Even in the great peformances, it does but when your team wins/opposition doesn't score it's considered to be part of the game. Pogba was brilliant yesterday regardless

Oh, that's what you saw. People moving around on the pitch. Often happens during football matches. I thought you meant "patterns", but maybe it was just a type. Like in your nickname.
Exactly. He played as good as this plenty of times, hilarious people are so blind they can't even see the good games for ManUtd, they somehow think he plays well only for France. Only difference is, France are favorites to win trophies, so he gets better recognition.

It's usual WUM attempts to shit on ManUtd.

Why was Pogba immune from criticism for the goal they conceeded for some of you?

People rightly pointed out that was the most typical Pogba performance, absolutely WC with the ball most of the time but is prone to an error in key moments and because of his position it often leaves defenders exposed.

That doesn't mean he's to blame for the loss, at all. He was their best player by a mile. Every player there made mistakes. We just know Pogba makes them there at times you really wish he wouldn't. That ball should have been put straight into the corner.

So grim how a great Pogba performance becomes an opportunity for many of you to just criticise one of our other players. Bizarre as F.

The way Pogba played last night there is no reason Bruno can't play with him in the advanced role. The creativity in that team with Bruno, Pogba and Sancho is ridiculous.

We just need someone better defensively next to him.

I've not seen that. Those posters are probably best ignored. He was responsible for pretty much everything good that France did, and that's supposedly a team with lots of top players.

I don't think we need to convince him to leave, he's been asking to leave for years
It's the lack of buyers that's a worry for me. Maybe PSG if they lose Mbappe to Madrid, juve are very cheap and they would rather wait a year and get him on a free.

That's not a typical Pogba peformance. Such a brilliant display is not typical for anyone really. Even the greatest like Messi, Zidane and co make a few errors in their very best displays. That he's human is not "typical Pogba".

Yeah, dont think we will get big fee. Best bet might be player exchange.

I think PSG is the only chance we've got of getting a transfer fee if he doesn't sign this summer. No one else is in a position to pay over £50m for him right now. Maybe a swap deal would work but none of the clubs that need him have players we need or want
