I currently have Smith Rowe as my 5th midfielder now and have replaced JWP with Rafinha and Ihaneacho with Antonio.

I have lined up with a 3-5-2 this week with:

Sanchez
Digne, Días, Shaw
Smith-Rowe, Bruno, Salah, Rafinha, Greenwood
Toney, Antonio

I have Foster, Coufal, Watkins, and Manquillo on the bench.

The last is a 4.0 player, best I could find.

I elected to have three even strikers and figured week to week I would choose between Smith Rowe and Watkins based on opposition, fitness etc. But I could get a worse option than Smith Rowe who is 5.5, and get a better starting striker. How often can I make transfers and are there restrictions/limits? Like how important is my squad selection now?

I could also get a shite midfielder at 4.5 which would get me within 0.5 of upgrading Dias to TAA in defence.

That's a very solid team now.

You're going without TAA, which is always going to raise eyebrows with some, but you've still got 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 strikers who can just about play every game regardless of fixtures (depending on Greenwood and Watkins' minutes and position respectively).

It's also nicely flexible so you can drop one of Coufal, Smith-Rowe, Toney, Watkins and set up with a 4-4-2, 3-5-2, 3-4-3 depending on the fixtures that week.

You get 1 free transfer each gameweek and can bank them to a max of 2 transfers in one gameweek. Any additional transfers beyond that in a gameweek means -4 points.

You also get a wildcard in the first half and second half of the season, so if it goes completely tits up you can always wildcard and make unlimited transfers in a gameweek.

Because most money spent on other 13 players and happy with that.

This is not a "look lads, I think these two forwards are great", this is "which of these options is best?" (one will be benched).

And despite how average they are, their fixtures are good short term and this is only a short term thing (WC early this year).

Does Manquillo start? Probably not.
Tsimikas very probably does for 3 weeks, and Amartey may at least start the first game. So surely if you're going 4m defender to pad it, you'd go for those over Manquillo?

Yes, but you need to be on the right 4.5m!
If you're not, it's much better to be on the more defensively secured teams.

I'm on Sanchez for eg, but you can never feel too confident with a Brighton keeper!

Can't wait for the fecking deadline. Creating your team should be fun but I'm constantly changing my mind. Think I'd forgotten how draining/all-consuming FPL can be. Haven't even started the season yet
