Massively disappointed, spoiled my weekend.
Last week’s result looks irrelevant now.
Utter shit.
A bunch of pussies.
We do not have the grit anymore to be champions. Fecking joke.

Southampton played well. You can't win them all. Team during the second half was better than the first. Had we started with those, would probably have edged it. Can't win them all.

They were as rubbish as we expected but we could have lost.

Martial was miles off.
Wan Bissaka looked off it.
Fred, sloppy.
Shaw, struggled to make an impact.

But special mention for Matic, I never want to see him in a United shirt again.

We need Cavani back ASAP because we lost control of the game after Martial went off and if Ole does not trust Martial, we can't have Greenwood playing as a centre forward because he does not have the strength to hold up the ball and bring his team-mates in to the game, he's better in space

Matic has to never play outside of domestic cups again.

Dreadful performance. Over 90 minutes we played well for, what, 20? Against a pretty mediocre team.

Most worrying is the fact that we failed in exactly the same way that's been our Achilles heel for much of Ole's time. Good in spells when we build up a head of steam but never really able to control and dominate for long periods, and when the momentum fades, we look flakey.

Individually we had some bad performances. Matic put to bed the idea that he could be a good option for us this season. Fred was poor. The back four all looked under the weather, though we do at least have a decent new player incoming at CB so I'm less concerned about that.

But the general play is what concerns me. We don't look like a side that's going up a level this season.

What we’ve learned from that game is Martial is finished, Sancho and Varane should be nailed on starters from now on and finally to no ones surprise we need to sign a fecking midfielder!

Sloppy as feck - gave the ball away so many times I lost count.
Martial is just awful
Managers team selection was awful
That kit is awful

We were lucky not to lose.

Need to be getting much better and quickly

Why did DVB stay?

We were slightly unlucky not to win that but Ole should definitely reconsider not to use this formation with Matic dropping that deep.

This game showed the need for a top class DM to stop Southampton from building up their momentum after the equaliser. Matic, Fred & McT just aren’t good enough.
I actually think the bigger problem is utilizing our forwards better. Like, there are plenty of PL teams in history that have had great forward lines and a leaky back. Sometimes they didn’t win shit.

We’re in a situation where our forwards just don’t combine in good, interesting and productive ways consistently and it’s a relatively bigger problem

As I've said before, we can spend all the money in the world but unless we learn to control games and open teams up through high quality possesion play, we won't win major honors. Under the current managerial regime we've never looked like doing that. Too reliant on pace, counters and moments of magic here and there.

Our season is fecked if we don't buy a CM. We have 2 functioning CM, McFred.
Calm down man! - No it isn’t at all. We have donny to come in when needed. If we wasn’t considered part of the bigger picture then he would have been moved on.

We had all the momentum before they scored, and then again up until we equalised, didn't make it count. They were all over the place at the back and we didn't take it to them.

Fred was awful. Matic too, though he had a good spell at the start of the 2nd half, before going to shit again. Maguire looks nowhere near match fit. Sluggish, heavy touches, kept switching off. Shaw's worst game in a United shirt for a couple of years.

Need a midfielder before window closes. Surely can't go into all 4 trophies with Fred, McT and Matic as our CM options.

I can't believe how awful the last 20 odd minutes were. They were there for the taking and we completely just took our foot off the gas and just let the game slip away to the point we probably should have lost. Shocking performance to be honest.

If our entire team would've performed 50% of what they're capable of, we would've won. But when 8 players perform 50%, one performs 25% and two performs 5% it ends like this...

Thoughts:

1. We still are too sloppy when trying to play through the high press. I blame Fred/Matic.
2. We miss Cavani, though Mason played well.
3. Lack of desire today.
4. Cannot wait to get Lindelof out of our starting 11

Generally speaking, we played pretty poorly, we were sloppy throughout. 2 points dropped in my mind.

We need to accept that this team won't compete for the title as there are still too many problems squad wise (no RW and no DM, a poor RB). Once we do that, some results get a lot less frustrating

Needed a midfielder who’s comfortable dealing with the press, so I would have thought he would give VDB a chance.

fans on here will overreact. It was a really tough game to have.

Massive, filthy side that presses with intensity. If you have an off day, you'll be lucky to get the 3 points and we were off the boil.
Can't have an off game 2nd game of the season though mate. Its the difference between being a title contender or not.

Martial shouldn’t be starting yet…. Especially when mason played so well last week in middle.

if Varane and Sancho don’t start the next match I’m going to lose it.

Couldnt nail a team thats falling apart. Performance was poor overall, Sancho looks off, Matic instead of being sold or released 3 years ago or so, still starting in here. Lingard sub on top of all, dunno is VDB happy just being on the bench until his contract runs out or what.

Wouldnt be surprise if they lose next game 10:0 and then muppets will be like "how the feck we dropped the points against this lot" and then some idiot will jump in with "they are game raising cnuts".

That midfield is going to get us in some trouble this season and it'll be the reason why we don't challenge for the title, which we should be doing.

Wan Bissaka is not and never will be a United level player.

The good thing is that we have a reasonable and rational fan base that won’t overreact.
We played absolutely awful the last 15 mins. Apart from maybe a 20 min period, we were very poor. You see the same issues with this team that we have seen for a while. No tactics to break a low block team. Poor passes and hoping individuals keep bailing us out with pieces of brilliance.

Unfortunately we will see these kind of performances more often than not under Ole, as we have seen in the past as well. Very few lower level teams will try to have a go at us and we will keep struggling. The teams that will have a go will be the ones having the firepower to cause issues and we have seen that we can be prone to a lot of individual errors.

We seriously need a proper #9. Cavani is a huge miss and Martial is just stinking up the place now. Seems like his heart is not in it anymore and we should replace him as soon as possible. The Lingard sub was such a bizarre one to make.

Matic was done 4 years ago, INSANE that he is still around, let alone starting and not being subbed before minute 83? WTH?

Should have won really. Played well in bursts (as usual) and then slowed down to a crawl. Fred, Matic, Martial, Maguire all had poor games.

Positives:
Pogba was absolutely dynamite.
Greenwood continues his good form
De Gea is still our best 'keeper.
Away record is nice

Fred, AWB and Matic have been diabolical with their passing. Also, when Martial went off, Greenwood was not holding his CF position and we were worse of.

Mediaocre game in general with a few stand out poor performances that cost us our rhythm. Feck the referee too for not sanctioning the foul of Bruno.

Not sure why I am driving myself crazy posting this....it doesn't matter if you have Messi, Mbappe, Ronaldo and Neymar, you still need a functional CM to get the ball to them.

wont win anything this season

Ole makes the same mistakes over and over.. starting matic in midfield vs Southampton was insane.
giving martial more than 45minutes was stupid.. even trusting him as a striker was stupid. hes actually the worst player in the club. absolutely useless.

sancho isnt going to win us trophies. varane isnt going to stop us conceding goals.

when your midfield choices are fred and matic you will go nowhere.. we needed a CDM this summer. we didnt get it.. there will be zero improvement this season without one. though even if we had got one.. ole would over think and feck up these games that should be 3 points every fecking week.

Matic is way way off it. Too slow. Lost it completely.

Fred is a liability, every second touch is a tackle.

AWB sloppy passing, loses the ball too often. Nothing going forward.

Maquire a yard off the pace, needs to get his fitness back, was like a sitting duck today.

Martial. Time to sell him now. He literally has nothing to offer. Cannot control a ball, play a one two, hold the ball up, dribble without running into someone. Have a clean shot on goal. He has gone backwards.

Bit of a reality check. Not good enough but not surprising as the likes of Matic, Fred and Martial are terrible in games like this. Pogba was good but two points dropped for sure.

No control in midfield, defence looked shaky. I had the feeling every time Southampton attacked they could score.
With our attacking players we will create and score plenty. But first of all we need to control games and focus on improving our play at and between the back and midfield.
