For me, he's 4th choice up top behind Ronaldo, cavani and greenwood. Probably 4th choice at left wing too behind rashford, pogba, Sancho and Ronaldo, but with rashford injured and Fred being shit, he'll probably get a fair bit of game time there still.

He's deffo become deadwood today though.

Moise Kean is one of those players you think must be good until you watch him play.
He was actually very good for PSG last season under Tucal and arguably out performed Icardi, so having watched him play for both Juve and PSG I would have to conclude that his problems seem to be confined his premiership performances. I think most PSG fans wanted the club to keep him but the club rightly thought the fee concerned was too high.

He is not.

Kean will never hit the levels Martial hit as a striker in 2019/20 after the restart.

Bit annoying that Arsenal have already spent so much money since he would be a good signing for them and they can afford his wages.
Rubbish, as a striker he actually understands how to make a life difficult for defenders, and has a basic grasp of how to make runs off the ball, both skills that Martial lacks. If you offered me the chance of Martial in his current state as a striker or Kean I'd take kean every time.

You're a lovely person.

Anyway, he can't give his number to Cavani. That's already gone.
Special dispensation is possible per Premier League rules. The prospect of 'Ronaldo 7' for the Premier League could be too much for the Premier League board to reject.

No way he gets any relevant minutes now with Cristiano and Cavani ahead of him, the best he can get is to fight Rashford for the LW.

I think his fate has just been written, he'll be out next summer.

You are seriously overestimate Arsenal's wage budget. No club in EPL can afford Martial's wages. Son in Spurs is only on 140k/week, and Kane is on 200k.

Is there any substance to the agent looking for a new club or has this just become the kick Martial thread?

I think the likely reality is that none of the clubs who can afford him need him right now. A lot of the big continental sides are flat broke right now, so its become a largely moot point.

This guy hates competition for his spot in the team, its no coincidence his best spells have been when is basically the only option for his role and then when other players come in to challenge his spot he wilts.

He was already up against it with Greenwood's strong start and Cavani still to come, but the signing of Ronaldo is the death knell his time here. His performances will continue to be poor and he'll be gone in the next 12 months.

Hopefully he stays. Our attacking depth is finally quality. Probably the best it's been since 08/09, though not on that level.

I find it really strange that Juve didn’t take him in return/exchange for Ronaldo.

He seems like the ideal fit for them. Vice versa too. Martial would’ve gotten a lot of playing time.

I would send Martial back to Monaco where he had success, in exchange for Tchouameni.
And then our transfer window will be complete.

Are you going to cover the first 200k a week of his wages? Otherwise Monaco can't afford him. Do fans genuinely not realise players earn wages?

With wages, there are two possibilites.

If he wants to play, he'll need to take a pay cut OR he has his 1st year salary partially paid by United (just to get this transfer done with).
If he doesn't, then good luck to him sitting in the bench and passing water bottles to outfielders.

Loan + obligation to buy is reasonable. I think he'd be great in Ligue 1.

Everton would be a great fit and more his level in my opinion. Could play every week too.
Thing is though he's been the main striker for Man Utd and looks like he can't be arsed and mopes around the pitch.

Can you imagine how low his energy and effort will be if he goes to Everton?

He doesn't strike me as the sort to knuckle down and try and prove Utd wrong for getting rid of him .

I do want to see Ronaldo having a go at him after an inevitable failed goal chance.

An optimistic point of view might be that Ronaldo’s added presence opens up some space for Martial to operate in and be more effective if he plays on the wing. We all know his dribbling ability is right up there on his day.

For a player whos had one bad season and is 22 goals away from hitting the 100 club for united, all while spending half his United career on the wing or bench. The hate/unappreciation he receives on this forum by some is insane.

Truth is he will get enough minutes at the club - some of our fanbase need their brain checked. I've supported players like Rooney who had more than his fair share of Goal shy seasons at United (sometimes when we really needed him to step up and he didn't). Why because it's something proper fans do.

Coincedentally I've realised that it's more the internet than match going fans. ALL of the convos I had about him at the Leeds game, were fans hoping he can turn it around as opposed to the "get rid" of the WiFi fans.

I just hope the players understand that it's a really small portion who are just really loud.

Rooney scored 15 or more goals 11 out of his 13 seasons at the club.

Martial scored 15 or more 2 out of 6 seasons.

Martial averaged 13 goal a season at United and 4 assists.

Rooney averaged 19 goals a season and 11 assists.

That’s before you even get to Romney’s tenacity and work rate compared to Martial’s lethargy and skulking. It’s a silly comparison.

One bad season for feck sake.

Great first season
Shite second season,
Up and Down third season, arrival of Sanchez seemed to piss him off royally and he didn't score a goal from January until the end of the season.
Mixed 4th season, best period of form in the season weirdly was when Mourinho was on the verge of getting sacked, after Ole came in he wasn't anything great.
Great 5th season, particularly after lockdown
Diabolical 6th season.

And he was woeful again on Sunday.

I couldn't believe you typed this I'm going to screen shot this. This modern flimsy stat worshipping fan is EXACTLY my point!

If you felt this helped your argument I cannot believe this, but that's the problem with modern stats guys.

Nobody comparing Martial's and Rooney's ability directly (they played in different teams, different times, different managers), the point of the post is to highlight support! He has contributed positively to United no matter what you think, and that's a fact. He wouldn't be closr to a ton otherwise (He's made our top 20 Goalscorers ever (16th) for a reason).

Fans "in the real world" who I've had the pleasure of supporting with over the years; have stuck by the Luis Saha's of the world, Alan Smith, Dimitar Berbatov and yes Wayne Rooney (the only one above Martial since you love stats so much) who all went through some very difficult periods. All different playing styles still stuck by em.

But since coming out of lockdown and no longer have to support the club online as much anymore; there's always that positive.

Thank God Ole is not as thickle as our fanbase.

Get a grip mate. Martial contributes nothing to our team other than stats every other season. He’s a waste of space the rest of the time.

All the players you mentioned in your post were better than Martial. They could all hack it at the top, albeit to some limited capacity, unfortunately Martial can not. He's good for top 6 but not top 4 or the CL. His stats when United have been at that expectation level back that up, regardless of whether or not you think people are using the stats to judge him. It's not even like watching him live will help you form a better opinion of him either...

I agree fans are fickle and Martial gets undue criticism for his appearance, but your comparison did you no favours. Rooney never had a season like Martial’s last year. The conditions were set for him to thrive and he flopped. He lost his chance and two old heads have kicked him out of the team. Comparing that to anything Rooney did is nuts. And I like Martial.

Get a grip. Martial is a fairweather player and even when he's good he's nowhere near Rooney's quality. He's been poor for United given the money spent and the faith shown and I've genuinely no idea how you could think otherwise.

Rooney also played upfront for the majority of his career here tbf, Martials’s olued upfront for about 2 seasons I believe. Not that I’m trying to say Martial’s in the same league as Rooney but like @MasterCode said, the pure hatred Martial gets from a lot of people on this forum is very weird. He’s never disrespected the club or the fans, so I don’t know why he warrants such disdain, bar not being good enough.

And not trying hard enough, tbf. He looks uninterested, aloof and like he doesn't give a toss a lot of the time. You can forgive people for cutting him less slack than most.
