Exactly. Such a weird angle.
We lost 5 nil, but it could have been more. As if to say THEN it becomes a problem, as if 5-0 wasn't already a huge one.

It's a problem any way. But do you not think if we'd have lost 8-0 (which we deserved to), that would have increased the likelihood of Ole getting sacked/resigning by ten fold?

Not really. Because a 5/6/7/8 etc make no real difference.
The board will either act on a heavy defeat or they'll stubbornly see it through.

I suspect we all know that they'll keep going as we are for a while yet.
But with City and Chelsea on the horizon, and Tottenham and Atalanta aways too, we could easily lose 3 or 4 of the next games, a couple heavily.

It's a minor miracle that we lost by a mere 5-0. If they hadn't opted to conserve energy in the second half, it could very easily have been 8-0. But no one with any sense genuinely thinks they took their foot off the gas in order to avoid getting Ole sacked. That's beyond ridiculous. They just didn't have a reason to wear themselves out or risk injuries. They already had their biggest ever win against us.

She's dead, but still would probably get on the pitch before Donny

I know but if we dig up her skeleton it would probably beat a man at left wing and get a cross in before Rashy:lol:.

I mean yeah sure he can play well every now and then but trying to go past 4 defenders and being left found wanting every fecking game is getting to be a bit too much now.

No it fecking isn't.

Signed, a real life doctoral student.

I know he blows sunshine out his ar*se but maybe you should keep studying mate...maybe try something with common sense next time.

You have to make a difference between training and work outside football. I don't see Salah doing it, Salah is probably doing some other things out of football we don't know about and it's not related to his football. Rashfords poor game doesn't have anything with his work outside football..

Probably but most probably not. Salah is probably dedicating 99.9% of his efforts to Liverpool only... with 10 mins here and there visiting a few hospitals now and then. But here we have "Dr Rashford"... Farce. Maybe you like it but it's sickening being turned over 0-5 at home and people still defending dear old Rashy, who had to be subbed because one of our so called "best players" is a useless cu*t whenever we need him. I hope Sancho fecking displaces him on that left wing for the rest of the season.

They took their foot off the throttle the rent boys or Shitty won’t and that’s for sure

I want to hear the excuses now. The best defence midfielder in the world won't ever fix this shitty tactics.
We could have Makalele & Kante in their prime - this "system" of 4-2-0-0-4 we play and the lack of pressing as a nit especially from our forwards is like leprosy on steroids.

No point in a game plan when players don't show up.

Maguire as a captain needs to be demoted

He has been back in training 5 minutes, it's ridiculous he's even being asked to start yet. You know how players take time after a long injury to get up to speed.

If Ole survives this then only God himself can intervene and considering were nicknamed the Red Devils I think he'd rather enjoy watching.

The board asked Ole to make us competitive and lead us to Champions League but instead hes trying to run towards the Championship.

If you think this group of players is playing anywhere near its potential you're mad. They're not all world beaters, but they're miles better than the tumescent performances we're seeing.
We’ve got top players but also got players that ain’t up to the job like McFred and then you’ve got to make a decision on Ronaldo and how much game time he gets. On top of that we’ve got Sancho and VDB sitting on the bench and not getting a sniff. From that I’m happy to be called mad if you think that doesn’t need ripping up.

What did you really expect? Knowing we have a manager who is well out of his depth and can't organise a team, I already knew we wouldn't play like prime Barca but I still expected a team that's willing to do anything to get the victory.

Like Liverpool teams against us in 90s and 2000s in their cup final. Even with the most out of depth managers they had like gerard houllier, roy hodgson etc. and with their worst teams, they were still going toe to toe with us. It was absolutely not about quality but was about the self pride.

I didn't expect a tactically brilliant team Ole; but you couldn't even motivate these players against Liverpool at OT. It was completely soulless. Last time I felt like this was 0-3 at OT under Moyes and even it wasn't that bad. Yes, he's even worse than Moyes. People like to shit on Van Gaal and Mourinho but we didn't get humiliated like this in their era even for once.

Hire a clown expect a circus.
As a new member why did you choose that name.

No he's not a useless cu.t.
No purpose in this going on cause it seems you don't rate him much. Your comments about his studying all well over the top.

IMO you had a bad day.
My team has had worse and more often . . though maybe not so recently.
I wanted you to win today and was pissed off that you didn’t, though not to the same degree as you perhaps, but that helps me to be dispassionate enough to see that the level of grief on display, on this forum, is out of kilter with the available facts.
It was bad tactics, that’s all it was.
Ole tried to organise a half press against the dippers, and it was a crazy thing to do but life’s about learning and he’ll learn from that, and with the squad you have you’ll be in with a shout for all available honours.
No worries.
Just compare your squad with other PL squads and how they’re valued.
You’ll see that, man for man, you’re up there with the best and, consequently, the best paid.
You’re a top 1-3 side and IMO that’s where you’ll finish the season.
The PL’s a marathon not a sprint.

That simply has to be the end for Ole now. It’s not even just this game. It’s Young Boys, Villarreal, Villa and Leicester as well. Isn’t he aware that he isn’t good enough and has proved it for three years? Isn’t he aware that he’s just presided over the single worst result in our modern history? If he isn’t or wants his compensation, then the board should do the job. They won’t though, because they’ll wait for CL qualification to be impossible before doing so. With Ashley gone, the Glazers are the worst owners in the football league. About as useful as tits on a fish.

About the game itself, this is a historical embarrassment. I was never gonna be as gutted as I felt after the game if we had lost 0-1 or 0-2, because I expected it and knew that Liverpool were favourites. I never expected it to be as bad as 0-4 and 20,000 empty seats by half time though. Ole showed his utter incompetence again by persisting with McFred after they failed as recently as Wednesday, and we turned the game around after they were subbed off. Fits Einstein’s definition of insanity, and that’s exactly what it was. Thank God the fans booed and booed hard at half time. This club’s standards have dropped so far I thought they were going to clap them.

A lot of these players have also been disgraceful not just in this game, but the entire season. Harry Maguire is not a captain and ought to be stripped of it now. People say the captaincy is just a little band, but it sends only wrong messages that someone who is far from the best player and the player who commands the most respect is the leader and face of the team. Then you have AWB and Shaw who have both been remarkably far off their levels from last season, and generally hopeless players like Lindelof, McT and Fred.

Pogba is the worst though. Played most games for the last 5 years like he couldn’t be bothered, but today was the final straw for me. Comes on with the body language ready for a jog in the park, loses the ball for the fifth and for me, purposely tries to injure a player and get sent off. Wasn’t his fault today but he is a pointless player until international breaks and we ought to remove the contract offer from the table right now.

To end off, I have to say that I wish Ole just never took the job. He looked a genuinely broken man today, and I don’t want to see a United legend look like that on a human level. Just imagine his legend status here had he done the job he did as an interim before handing the reigns over or becoming assistant manager to someone like Zidane, Ten Hag or Conte. Instead of being remembered for the 99 final and saving us from the brink in 2018 now, his lasting legacy in football will be as the man who failed at Man United after getting a chance his CV didn’t warrant and took two royal 5 goal beatings at Old Trafford.

That first goal is hilariously bad.

Wan-Bissaka tries to press. The Liverpool player just passes to the player he leaves open.
Lindelof runs to cover that guy, who passes to the player he leaves open.
Maguire runs to cover that guy, who passes to the player he leaves open.
Shaw runs to cover that guy, who passes to the player he leaves open, who scores.

Wow.

The fact that the scousers never once took the low handing fruit of singing sacked in the morning (presumably because they don't even want the idea of his sacking to be present in time and space) and instead sung "Ole's at the wheel" says everything

I’m absolutely livid.

Ronaldo’s foul best moment of the game. Good on him, showing some actual passion.

Couldn’t get a ticket today, but I walked out the pub, first time for everything.

It was like dominos falling that stem from Bruno pressing the keeper. Absolutely absurd how easy it was for Liverpool to be through on goal.

Embarrassed is the word I would like to use but I was prepared for this after the Atalanta game. Better opponents so the results were predictable to say the least.

Did you see the post match on Sky? Sad to say the two scousers talked more sense than Neville. He just refuses to condemn Ole and his staff, but then says drastic changes need to be made to the coaching methods and tactics. He then says Ole won't be sacked because the board have not planned to sack him mid season so he is okay till the end of the season. Clever or what?
I am one of many that expressed the opinion way back that the job was too big for him and was not a post to learn as you go.
He must be sacked a.s.a.p., it's a big job but any one with tactical nous and top level experience is needed in the short term just to get some semblance of balance and work ethic back in the team.

Maguire as a captain needs to be demoted

Everything you just said is because of the manager.

Individual errors from Shaw and Maguire because they are favorites. Maguire should have been sent on the bench after that Leicster performance but there is no accountability in this setup. Shaw has been putting horror defensive performances throughout the season but Telles still can not get a look in.

Maguire as a captain can not be demoted because Ole doesn't have the balls to confront a player.

There is no fight and motivation because the manager doesn't instill that - he's not at the touchline shouting at the players, he's smiling most of the time.

Everything - everything boils down to the manager in our case.

He has been back in training 5 minutes, it's ridiculous he's even being asked to start yet. You know how players take time after a long injury to get up to speed.

When has Rashford actually lived up to the hype? Even when fit? Are you telling me he has never been fit? I'm sorry, but Rashy fits into the Wilshere and "any other young English talent section" of being over-hyped, because he's young and English.
But that is all he is, young, English and decent. He's not world class, he's so many levels below that, but he's had so much smoke blown up his arse (I'm only talking on the pitch here), it's unreal and completely inaccurate.

He's just not very good. He's not elite. He's our Benteke.
'
His decision making is absolutely pants, he doesn't track back....so many other points could be drawn out.

All that being said, I don't blame him. It's squarely on the coaching. There is talent there, absolutely, but it isn't harnessed and I don't think he, personally, has the footballing brain to work it out himself.

They've could've easily put 10 past us if they tried, but dropped back to "let's just pass the ball around and make sure nobody gets injured" mode after their 5th goal and Pogba's sending off, when the humiliation was already done and there was no way for us to come back.

At Old Trafford. Against Liverpool. Not even the 60th minute and they're doing this while their fans are laughing their asses off and singing Ole in.

If this doesn't prompt the board to act, then I don't know what will.

Luckily for Ole, our next game is against Spurs, who have looked awful under Nuno this season and probably will gift us 3 points.

I've seen a few posts saying similar, but Liverpool did try to score more than 5... remember the wonder save from De Gea from Alexander-Arnold? That would have made it 6.
Then you had further chances... the free-kick on the edge of the box from Salah, a shot from distance from Oxlade-Chamberlain etc.

They definitely didn't settle 'For a measly 5 nil'
I was being sarcastic Ffs! That said the definitely eased up in the last 30. Took the piss basically.

Shaw and Maguire tackled each other for the second one. :wenger:

Not even when Liverpool was at their worst did we go to Anfield and batter them 0-5.

You can chose any game to do that but you do not do that against Liverpool.

These games are special, to go out and perform like that is a disgrace.

Were going to end up in the europa conference if the board doesn't act.

I think it changed when Pogba was sent off.
I think the Liverpool players didn't want to risk any more injuries and therefore came off the boil - despite still creating a few goal threats.

It's almost like Pogba's red card was a blessing in disguise for us, as although he easily lost the ball in midfield and that led to Liverpool scoring their 5th goal, I believe the Liverpool player's eased off when they saw their team-mate going off on a stretcher from the studs up sending-off challenge from Pogba.

You'd be surprised...

16th February 1946 (Anfield)
Liverpool 0-5 Man Utd

11th September 1946 (Maine Road)
Man Utd 5-0 Liverpool

It might not be our recent history, but in our distant past we have actually dished out back to back 5-0 thrashings to them.

You are right but you are going back to titanic days. The sport was a complete different thing back then.

I could imagine Monday at the training ground. The glazers walk in, summon Ole to their office:

Glazer: that was a bad defeat
Ole: yes
Glazer: the fans are getting angry
Ole: yes
Glazer: do you think you're the right man for the job?
Ole: yes
Glazer: you think you can turn this around?
Ole: yes
Glazer: what's your favourite word?
Ole: yes
Glazer: here, take this 6 year extension.

We are lucky Klopp is a nice person, showed some respect and stopped at 5.
He could have made terrible history and scored 8 or more.
Something Ole didn't do with Southampton playing with 2 red cards.

I reckon pogbas tackle played a part aswell. Klop didn't want our players to get pissed and start throwing wild challenges that could injure there players and derail there season like last year.
