Fight your main opposition rather than your teammate who is in a title fight.
Red Bull sacrifice Perez at all costs, Mercedes play the nice guy.
Redbull tactically adapt and understand what is needed.
In Russia Bittas let max through straight away, perez battled like crazy with Hamilton.
That start today would be different if it was red bull they would have blocked Hamilton. Bottas has been non existent.
Although, red bull have been the best car this year and also the best team management and work. They deserve it.
So whose fault is it then. Bottas or the team?

Don't basically sack your driver half way through a season

Bottas was hit by Ricciardo. That can't really be helped.
Of course he could have braked later, but it still wasn't Bottas's fault.

If that accident didn't happen, Bottas would have been ahead of Perez more than likely.

Maybe Ricciardo is still a Red Bull driver behind the scenes. #TeamPlayer
That doesn't seem to be related to what I was saying. But it seems you agree that extenuating circumstances (being hit, learning a new car, having to take your teammates damaged parts, etc) make the teammate discussion about more than just points.

You make it sound like Bottas has never given up multiple first place positions to let Hamilton win races

Bottas wouldn't even follow the order not to steal the fastest lap point. He's been a far worse wingman than Checo this year.

he’s been released because he’s been absolutely dogshit this year and deserves to be replaced.
Dogshit, but outscoring his rival, which has so far kept Merc ahead in the constructors.

Considering the Red Bull is apparently the better car this year, he's done alright

Can’t wait to see Russell in a Merc, assuming the new regs don’t change everything we need another top talent toward the front.

Bottas is not working for the team, so he should be replaced. Red bull would no question, this is a ruthless business. Merc are to blame for lacking ruthlessness.

Done alright for himself, not helping his teammate, where he's been shocking
Done alright for his team too.
If it wasn't for him, and him outscoring Perez, Red Bull would have been ahead. So for the team, and the constructors, he's done a good job.

You're all Lewis fans, so you want him to bow down to Lewis, but Merc care more about the constructors than they do Lewis and his championship

Who does Bottas owe?
His team have binned him.
You're taking my statement an inferring extra meaning. I don't blame him for phoning it in a bit (although he wasn't exactly the model team mate before he was replaced), but he's still been a poor teammate.

So they're releasing him at the end of the season.
Thanks for clearing that up
No, releasing would be inferring that he's still in a contract. I.e. we're releasing you from your contract. His contract expires at the end of the season, so he would be without a drive without a renewal either way. Either way, I'm not sure you get the driver market and how it works very well.

I'll admit I don't know the logistics of F1 driver contracts etc, if I did, I'd be a millionaire.

But they're releasing him at the end of the season. If they offered him a contract, he'd snap their hands off. So it's their decision, they're releasing him...

Someone needs to check what percentage of Mercedes' slow stops have been Hamilton or Bottas in the past few years
