All suggest that he turned down the same offers from Atletico and Arsenal.
According to most transfer market pundits, last summer Vlahovic was more than happy to join Atletico but Commisso just didn't want to sell for 50m + 10 in bonuses.

This january, one could argue that if you're gonna move mid-season, going to another club in the same league is a much safer move than jumping league and country.

Also you have to consider agents fees (Juve was happy to pay them the full 8m they requested, while I don't know about Atltetico and Arsenal).

Then there's the issue of the strategic interests of his agents and Commisso.
Juventus is an extremely powerful and influential club in regard to the whole italian player trading environment.
Doing nice business with them has good "political" returns, in terms of favours and intercessions.
When a player choose a destination, often a certain level of massaging of his will by his agents and the selling club is involved.

Finally, regarding player's ambitions... Premier League is a whole different level than Serie A, but in the end being the household striker at Juve is still more prestigious than at Atletico or Arsenal.
And you've got way more chances at domestic silverware, and no less chance to shine in a good Champions League run.

Also, looking great at Juve in Serie A is way easier than looking great at Arsenal in the Premier, so even in the optics of boosting his profile for further moves up the ladder, he's not compromising much.

Of course he is not compromising much. But it is not purely financial. You gave many good reasons not switch countries mid-season. Ramsey would probably disagree with that.

But I would disagree with this statement. It’s not been easy for attackers at Juventus, the only 2 players to have won the scorer table while playing for Juventus in the last 20 years are Del Piero and CR7. Higuain and Tevez didn’t.

And of course there are many players that looked good playing for smaller clubs before failing miserably at Juventus.

Arthur is so good. The new signings will get the plaudits but he ran the show. Us and Arsenal will end up kicking ourselves for not taking advantage of Juventus' moment of stupidity when they put him up for loan/sale.

Yep, in terms of pressure and mentality Juve is a harsh environment for a striker, no doubt about that.

Still, nowadays Serie A defences are some full level below the Prem in physicality and intensity.

So, if you want to boost your brand to be considered worthy of the handful of hyper elite creme de la creme clubs, as a career move Juve has a double advantage over Arsenal: if you succeed in Turin you can show proof that you've got the steel nerves to handle the pressure and deliver for trophies, all while looking better and having it easier on the actual pitch - especially for a striker with Vlahovic physicality

I don't want to sound rasist, but I feel like a lot of former Yugoslav players tend to favour Italy. I keep seeing them extending over there when they could scoot over here and earn more.
Historically, balkan players have always favoured Spain and Italy.

I don't think we can reduce everything to money.

But PL have now portuguese, brazilian, balkanic, and spanish players... unthinkable in the 90s PL.
Well there is also entry requirement in place, dont remember Spain and Italy require work permit, just amount of fgn in a team is a barrier like in Spain.

Work permits shouldn't be an issue for professional players, and certainly not for EU citizens from Croatia before Brexit. I just looked at the statistics. Both the PL (330 non-english players) and Serie A (340) have a very high percentage of foreigners.

While most countries are similarly represented in both leagues with France and Brazil in first and second, and then relatively similar numbers from Netherland (13), Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal (6/7 in both leagues), the numbers vary strongly when it comes to Irish/British and Balkan players.

Scandinavian countries have almost the exact numbers across BL, PL and Serie A. Denmark is more present in Germany than in the other 2 and England has more than Itlay thanks to Brentford.

There are about 10 British players in Italy (7 from England) versus almost 45 from Ireland and the rest of the UK playing in the PL. And on the other hand, Serie A has 44 players from Balkan countries versus 5 in the PL. Germany has more balkan players than the PL, about 12 I think. While there are 15 in Spain, but that number is relatively high if you consider that la Liga has by far the lowest total of foreign players, only 222 compared to Italy's 340 and England's 330.

I was talking about Serbian players, as subject started with Vlahovic staying in Italy.

One match ban to Theo Hernadez for deliberate reckless tackling on the ankle from behind;
Two matches ban to Bastoni for saying "you've been crap" to a linesman.

Italian referees refereeing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Great goal as well. A very quick transition and an exquisite finish by Dzeko.

Not Serie A, but Serie B. I do think it is A grade hilarious, though.

Why do they want to sack him if he’s 3rd

Probably some off the field issues with the hierarchy.
Massimo Cellino .)
He sacked coaches 52 times in thirty years as owner of Cagliari, Leeds and Brescia...

(anyway, it must be said that Serie B table is very compressed. There are just 10 points between the first and the 10th placed team. So if you don't trust your coach anymore, it's sane to remove him even if you're third: it takes just a couple slip-ups to sink far down the table. What's completely insane is that every. friggin. time. for 30 years Cellino does end up distrusting his coach just few months into the job)

Entertaining games in the Coppa. 10 men Fiorentina beats Atalanta and will face the winner of Juventus Sassuolo. And à Milan derby in the other semifinal.

Vlahovic impressive effort saves Juventus at the death. He will now face his ex-teammates in the semifinals.

Dzeko scores his 14th of the campaign. That’s only 3 npg less than Lukaku’s total last season.

Not the greatest of games that. The quality in the final third certainly missing from both sides tonight

Yeah, Inter put another nail in their scudetto hunt, nothing spectacular to get thrilled yet, really… it will be interesting to have a benchmark against Liverpool next Wed: Allegri brought Juve to two CL finals after Conte’s foundational work, hopefully Inzaghi will step up a notch and defeat Liverpool to make his own statement as a manager.

2-2 at the death. Roma stays in touch with top 6, but top 4 looks increasingly distant. Only fifth guarantees EL. The sixth spot can lead to EL if Fiorentina doesn’t win the Coppa.

Juventus needs a win tonight if they want to revive the Scudetto dream. Only 10 points behind league leaders Milan.

Its not happening.

It's juventus. We're still not over their winning 9 in a row. We'll still be terrified of them catching up until it becomes impossible

Title race is on though. Milan and Inter, possibly Napoli as well

It is not impossible. Inter yesterday was very poor dealing with the Napoli pressing. Bastoni normally offers an alternative when Brozovic is marked. I think they will suffer from his injury more than anything.

Juventus is on a good run of 2.4 points per game. If they keep it they will end the season on 79/80 points. If they do better than that (2 more wins instead of draws) it gets them 84/85 points. With such a tally they can beat Milan and Napoli.

Now, this is still very unlikely, but it might be enough if Inter keeps the current -relatively poor- form going.

You are aware that not just 1, but 3 teams have to collapse all at once for this scenario to play out right?

Matthijs De Ligt is so freaking good. Koopmeiners also having a very good game, impressed with his progress.

Koopmeiners is really fecking good

Also Boga has to do better there. Great defending by De Ligt, but still. Poor decisions both times, for the first he should tried taking him on 1vs1 and for the second should have gone for the far post
