Still prefer Ten Hag. Have a feeling Tuchel might not stay around for a long time and by the time Ten Hag might well be at City. That being said Tuchel over Poch is a no brainer.

There is no manager in the world currently at Klopp or Pep level. Tuchel and Simeone probably top the list of managers under that level.
Fair points, maybe ETH or someone else not as known? can’t we take a risk go for the next great up and coming manager?

Interesting, where's this from ?
Source: trust me bro

Even if Ragnarok didn’t rate Tuchel to the same level as Pep or Klopp it doesn’t matter - he’s quite clearly third best in the world after those two.
Ralf recently was asked in an interview who are the best managers in the PL and he name dropped Klopp and Pep with no mention of Tuchel. Sorry can’t remember if this was a press conference or his recent sky sports interview. He has obviously praised Tuchel in numerous other interviews but doesn’t rate him on the same level as those clearly.

DWelbz, that’s very subjective, I don’t see how he’s ‘clearly’ the third best in the world. He’s one of the best obviously but your over exaggerating there. Don’t get me wrong though, would be happy to have him here of course but he’s not gonna win us the PL while Klopp and Pep are here.

Really surprised by the amount of people who prefer ETH over Tuchel.

Classic case of prefering the unknown?
Partly. There's the hope that ten Hag could genuinely be something special. With the likes of Pochettino and Tuchel, we know they are good/very good, but ultimately not the very best. Also, ten Hag has Ajax playing a more attractive brand of football.

I want ETH too but he is vastly overrated on this forum, as was Jadon “generational talent, up there with mpbappe”. If ETH was as good as everyone on here said then he wouldn’t be in a tie in the balance with a really poor Benfica side, he would have blew them out.

  1. Ten Hag
  2. Luis Enrique
  3. Tuchel
  4. Pochettino
I guess of the names linked and somewhat realistic options. He's a good coach but he's horribly negative too. Ten Hag, shoot for the stars IMO.

Sancho is a brilliant player. Mbappe might be pushing it, but Jadon is a class act for sure. No manager is perfect, mate. Liverpool struggled to get past Inter and Klopp isn't half bad.

Yes, and ETH is fitting the profile of that guy.

I'm just saying, there is no one as good as Klopp or Pep out there. It seems that within the next 24 months, both may leave. We need to be ready to strike then.

I think people not only underestimate Tuchel, but they overestimate the probability that ETH is a top five (not to say top 10) coach.

I’m also not sure there is that big a difference between Tuchel and Pep/Klopp. If any. It took Pep/Klopp years to get City/LFC to where they are today. To see how much Chelsea have improved in little over a year is really impressive. For the last two ganes against LFC I think Chelsea where just as good, and maybe even better, than Liverpool. In my opinion, looking at the attackers of Chelsea compared to LFC, that is some feat.

I also think Chelsea buildup this season is second only to City.

He'd be a good coach for us but I don't think he's realistic for us anytime soon? He's a coach that follows the positional play principles having been influenced by Cruyff, Guardiola etc. And coaches who follow this approach like Tuchel, Guardiola, Erik ten Hag, Enrique etc, will have good build up play capabilities.

I mentioned Tuchel on here years ago but he was considered a hipster choice in those days by our fans. I'm glad to see he's made progress.

Quite possibly on both scores. It's impossible to say with a great deal of certainty what level ten Hag is at, but he has shown a lot of promise and there's the feeling that he needs the right platform to showcase just how good he is. This is exacerbated by the fact that we haven't employed this profile of manager since 2013.

Chelsea in a one off game can give anyone a run for their money. I agree that they have performed well against Liverpool this season. It's just whether Tuchel can find that ruthless consistency that City and Liverpool have. Chelsea fans argue that injuries to Chilwell and James have prevented this, but I have my doubts. I find them to be a solid, well organised unit, but they lack a bit of fantasy.

I reckon a good few of us do not watch the Dutch league, however, it's the excitement that ETH's Ajax team brings to the CL (the highest stage of club football really), and their actual progress in the competition despite not having the financial clout of others which people understandably find massively impressive.

I'm firmly on the ETH train. And to the question about whether he is an elite manager. I'd say yes.

I think this would be our best transfer since RvP in terms of the impact it would bring.

100% behind any chance to hire this guy and leave Chelski in the dirt.

(Sorry Chelsea fans)

They also lack a bit of de Bruyne/Salah/Mane. Looking at their forwards, Havertz/Werner/Mount, I must say, it is really not comparable to Mane/Salah/Firmino/Jota or Mahrez/Sterling/Foden/Grealish/KdB/Bilva.

Chilwell/James is not the only reason, but considering the relatively low level of their attackers, I understand that they miss them. I think Liverpool would struggle without TAA/Robertson. But they still have Salah/Mane.

I wouldn’t take anything any football manager says at face value. He’s undoubtedly got lots of questions internally to the hierarchy regardless of whether he says he’s happy.

Not every day the clubs assets are frozen, the owner is sanctioned and is part of a cabal of potential World War 3 instigators and then all the sponsors immediately want to disassociate. Undoubtedly he doesn’t appreciate the paper trail that may possibly follow him for the rest of his career due to his association with Abramovich, no matter how fleeting it is.

You missed my point entirely. Jadon is a very good player, hopefully he kicks on, but generational was streching it. ETH is good too, but the way some talk about him here makes him seem like the next coming of Christ.

Yeah, agreed. The question becomes - to what extent are Chelsea hampered creatively due to a lack of quality compared to their rivals, or due to a manager with a slightly negative/pragmatic mindset?

I would be happy with that. As good as Poch and ETH is a bit of an unknown. His version of high press is a bit weird though.

I'd rather have N'Golo Kanté

What does generational even mean? Sancho has the talent to be one of the best players of his type in the world. That's not stretching anything. As for ten Hag, I do agree to an extent. There is a possibility he is the next coming of Christ, but the proof is in the pudding. Until he has the opportunity to work at the highest level, then it's impossible to know for sure. There are promising signs though.

Honestly, I'm sick of hearing about how we should have gone for Conte and that we've made such a big mistake. I agree with Neville.
I agree with Neville that we should never of got conte but Neville is starting to wind me up, never ever criticised ole when we was at our worse time. But one step wrong with rangnick and he’s quick to criticise him. That’s the same for all our ex players, quick to do the talking but they have short memories because Neville failed miserably at management and hasn’t gone back to it since and same with scholes. Only one that talks sense is Keane. He’s forever calling out the players rather then manager.

Yeah, Neville definitely picks and chooses who to attack and who to passionately defend. I always find him interesting to listen to, but I don't always agree with his views. The media's criticism of our decision to go for an interim is bizarre though. Fair enough they might not agree with it, but to refuse to acknowledge the thought or plan behind it, is stubborn and blinkered. Why appoint Conte or whoever if he isn't the guy we want long term? We are just supposed to bring him in and suck it up because he is available? No thanks.

Get Ten Hag.

Tuchel seems to be a manager that will be available to top teams for a long while (whether rightly or wrongly) given his achievements.

To answer the question, yes I would have Tuchel here, but not at the expense of Ten Hag.
If Ten Hag fails here, i think Tuchel will be available in the future.

Would be very shrewd and very beneficial for us long term tbh. Quite certain someone like Ralf who helped him get his start in football would back it as well.

Much better option than the current apparent favorite in Poch...
I'm too embedded in the ETH hype train to want anyone else, but I'd be happy with Tuchel as a second choice.

Just not Poch please.
I am getting worried the more I hear Poch. Considering how united has been run the past years, I wouldn't be surprised if some decides to hire him.
Something which simply doesn't make sense when one looks at his records at PSG.

Tuchel is good fit, and I think ETH is also a fine choice. I join my voice to say, "Just not Poch please"

People seem to think this is the end of Chelsea. When in reality very little will happen and they’ll probably be sold, if at all, to another incredibly wealthy individual and keep being successful.
That is most likely, but for that to happen Abrahmovic has to basically write off the value of the club. Which seens unlikely too.

He's a difficult personality by all accounts, which means that just like Conte, we won't go for him.

I'm assuming we're going to get Poch, as he seems like a yes man whilst being a decent coach, but my preference would be ETH.

I heard Lampard will be looking fora job soon after getting Everton relegated. They can always get him back. He's a Chelsea legend after all.

I'd have no objections to having Tuchel in charge. I also wanted Conte in but there you go. Probably an indicator of who we'll end up with. Heard McKenna doing well at Ipswich, probably be brought back in.

I want Ten Hag to lead us into a new era which I believe he can do.

Tuchel would be okay as a 2nd alternative.

I don't think Poch has it in him to build us.

The general concern is that Poch might be too much of a yes man to do what's needed - but of course the Glazers will see that as a plus.
