The fact that the old trafford fans booed him when he got subbed and then cheered when he gave up the arm band should tell the management everything. He shouldn't be stripped for this game but he should definitely be stripped for his season.

Think about this....at any big club, who takes off their club captain in a must win game???? Imagine doing that to ramos! Its embaressjng for him and for the club, he needs to be stripped.

Don't write his name in the teamsheet?
Nobody is going to drop him unless you are Man City. It just isn't going to happen here after we splurged 80 million on him and gave him the captaincy, ideally we just buy another defender and replace him but we aren't City. You say it like it's such an easy decision but I guarantee there is so much politics going on behind the scenes about it

Fraud. He's a fraud.

He's not even a footballer, let alone a captain.

He's the face of this losing team.

An ugly, squareheaded sorry excuse for a face.

Grow a beard you twat.

It is an easy decision, don't pick him. feck politics cliques price tags or anything else, he actively costs us every single time he plays. We don't need to buy someone to replace him, literally anyone else in the squad would be better.

his confidence is shot, spent the whole game pointing out where others should play the ball, why? Trying to be. Leader but do8ng it all wrong. looks and plays like a man under pressure with the world on his shoulders Slowing him down to Sunday league levels.

To me and you it is yeah, and really there's no need to plead a case with me i'm 100% in agreement with you. But if we're being honest with ourselves it just doesn't work out like that does it, you think the likes of Rangnick etc isn't seeing the things we are seeing on the pitch? Lindelof should absolutely be playing ahead of him.

The most infuriating thing with Maguire is the amount of times our defensive shape gets disrupted by him needlessly chasing after and "putting pressure" on an attacker who's 40 yards from goal, an attacker who never ends up misplacing a pass because of the "pressure" created by Maguire anyway. It always leads to a huge hole in the middle of our defence that is easily exploited by a runner from deep, and he keeps doing it so that he can jog back and say "job done" while the rest of the team has to reshuffle to cover the huge hole that he's created. I think he followed Kane into no-man's land at least four or five times while abandoning the entire notion of a defensive shape.
You understand that he has to do that because we don't have a proper DM right? We have defense and a bunch of #8's who are so out of position Harry has to chase a striker that far as there's nobody to switch off with

I'm clinging onto the hope it's because he is an interim and has limited options, that's all I have left now.

Lindelof is a very decent defender, I feel like we are still desperately trying to justify the price tag by starting Maguire.

Harry just creates these heart-in-mouth moments out of nothing. This season he has lost his composure and looks flakey.

Him and Rashford, honestly, just sickening watching them right now. He just creates so much nervousness at the back. Basically shits himself anytime he’s under pressure and it literally effects other players, you can see it. Someone needs to have the balls to get rid of him in the summer. Take the loss and move on.

He doesn't feel Ronaldo's hands at all? No reason to back into your teammate like this unless you don't feel their hands on your back anymore. That's like basic schoolboy football.

I remember one poster when defending Maguire for his shit tackle leading to Burnley goal, blamed McTominay for bumping into Maguire. I don't know if anyone else Maguire seem to accidentally bump into his own teammates more often than I can remember from other players.

Worst player on the team by a country mile. Nobody will buy him. Shouldnt be a sub. Shouldnt be near captaincy. The worst purchase Man Utd, and possibly any club ever, have made.

How can we get rid? Would even Newcastle give us 20mill?

Must be lots of fun for opponents to watch. Watching him turn around in circles inside his penalty box until an opponent pressures him - what a joke. Not sure what he was doing, you have the ball at your feet, pass it - it’s not a circus… even de gea was giving him a piece of his mind today

The scapegoating never stops. Im hearing Goldbridge blaming Maguire now on TheUNitedStand and the muppets here are repeating whatever he says
No not his fault at all, our team in general is completely shit.

But when you sign a defender for 80m and make him your captain you kind of expect more criticism than say Elanga for example.

He's not bad, and many are looking to him as the problem, but he wasn't today. The biggest case from him was a moment where he stepped out of the defence and two Atletico players got behind him and ended up confusing themselves, so he got lucky.

However, many are seemingly looking to him as the biggest problem.
I guess he's synonymous with our team at the moment. Overpaid for very average and limited players. Making him captain has put even more emphasis on him.

He's a decent defender. He's not awful, but he's not good either. He has severe mistakes in him, and would be starter for a midtable team. That's it, mid table. He is not anywhere near the level of a CL winning club player, nor Manchester United, who are trying to win trophies and failing dismally.

He has unwillingly become a representative of the club's failures in recent times. So, to an extent, he has become a scapegoat. He's become a scapegoat by the decision makers who signed him and immediately promoted him to captain of the club, which he has not earned nor shown to be anywhere near their level.

However, to throw hatred at him for all our failures is just ludicrous.

3 years mate. 3 years we've been watching him and he's been making mistakes in each of those 3 seasons. Rememebr Heinze after his 1st season? That's Maguire for the whole of his career at Utd

In the first half when the team was playing fairly well, Maguire still managed to look rubbish.

I think most United fans would be happy if we never saw him again. Dreadful player whose retirement I look forward to with eagerness as there’s no chance we ever see him leave otherwise.

You must be a class of 92. Sure it’s not his fault. He just cost 80m and can’t play football.
