I mean, why wouldn't you want to panic buy a couple of players after watching yesterday's performance. The team completely shit the bed in the first half, which is exactly what they've been doing on and off for the last 3 or 4 years. Same old, same old. We have a squad with a big tendency to completely lose it when put under pressure. ETH putting a more rigid system in place would mitigate this, but it takes time and squad changes are needed. Pre-season friendlies don't count for much.

Get Dumfries for 30m and play 3-4-3 the way Chelsea play it, in attack with two midfielders behind a striker of one midfielder behind two strikers.

We have more than enough centre backs but most of them aren’t good enough playing with two centre backs. Maguire, Varane, Lindeloff, Martinez, Bailly, Jones, Tuanze

The last time Maguire and Shaw played well was with England playing with three defenders at the Euro’s before last shit season.

If we sign Frenkie he is used to this because Holland will play like that at the next World Cup. I even think this could be an extra reason he would want to go to Chelsea. Louis van Gaal (Holland coach) said numerous times he likes the way Tuchel plays and tries to mirror that.

Erik ten Hag played with three defenders at Utrecht before he went to Ajax.

Play like:

Maguire - Varane - Martinez

Dumfries - new player (De Jong/Rabiot) - Eriksen/new player - Shaw/Malacia

Bruno/Eriksen/Van de Beek

Sancho - new player (or Rashford/Martial/Ronaldo)

At least panic buy someone who adds something. Not the shite we've been linked with.

Conte doesn't fight with his players but yes he would've demanded a lot from the board right away.

Which is why we didn't go for him. The board would absolutely crap themselves.

Imagine an angry conte busting down the door or murtoughs office or the glazers office.

Today feels worse than yesterday with the Arnautovic and Rabiot links. It stinks of not having a plan aside from hoping on De Jong and that is incredibly worrying.

£55m spent.

He thinks this is the Eredivisie. We could have signed Brobbery if he didn't choose Ajax. Now we want Arnautovic. We badly need a DOF

No club is selling anyone they want to keep at this stage in the window, unless they're being offered double the market price (which will perpetuate the cycle of us paying over the odds). Basically, this is what we get for chasing unicorns like de Jong all summer.

It makes sense that they’ve come up with Marco and Rabiot
Rabiot was at least once highly rated. Arnautović was never more than a mid table player, and now is 33. Its literally like Ighalo, except Arnautovic is a cnut, and Ighalo was a United fan signed on January deadline day because of some major attacking injuries.

We didn’t play a striker yesterday. Of course Arnautovic is a massive upgrade on Erikson as false 9 when he’s needed much deeper.
Because he chose not to play with one. He left Ronaldo on the bench and he chose to keep Rashford on the left. Arnautovic isn't an upgrade of any kind on Ronaldo, Martial and Rashford.

Pray tell, if ETH choses to play Eriksen at CB next week, are you going argue that it means we should sign Johnny Evans?

In yesterday's match that's fair but he chose nlt to play ronaldo.

martial is our number 9 as much as I don't rate him he's better than Arnautovic just depends on his fitness.

It's just maddening we've had months to identify and bring in a striker and we've ended up with a 2017 Stoke City reject.

It’s panic and desperation now, two players we’d never have considered weeks ago both with attitude problems. But they are cheap and available so looking for the right player has gone out the window.
Id rather we signed no striker than him. I can't back a club or a manager than signs him. I will just count down the days till they both leave.

Well we do without then.

I'd rather us play the youngsters, than buy a load of dross like we've just managed to start shipping out.

Yeah, he's fecking terrific and has the pedigree to prove it...

Shite player and even worse character. Rather play Shoretire.

PS. That was his "peak" years. Before he turned 30 and went to China to average 12 games a year.

I would rather see a couple of our youngsters get a good look this season than the shit show of a transfer window we are seeing unfold. Im with you.

The fact that he made 40PL appearances in 15-16 is mighty impressive and

Uf all these transfers and potentially arnautovic and rabiot are his doing then he has to have criticism thrown his way and would be very concerned if he can make a step up to manage a big club as seems a little moyesy to me at the moment

No we shouldn’t be going near him or Rabiot but this is what club has become now. It’s not going to be changing anytime soon.

I like the territory we're heading into. Its the opposite of last season when we had finished 2nd previously and signed big names. This time we've finished 6th and signed shitty names. No expectations, no problems is a nice strategy for everyone involved. Last two days should really help Frenkie in choosing us.

People usually would, until the kids’ confidence is crushed amidst the abuse from our fanbase and we start plummeting down the table. This isn’t an environment for young players to do well.

Arnautovic and Rabiot. I desperately want the guy to succeed but fecking hell, he isn't exactly buying himself time with the fans by going for such average players who in addition are rotten characters.
This bit is particularly weird. If they were model professionals with exceptional work ethics and character, it could make some sense, while still being hugely underwhelming, in the sense that we need to instill a new mindset in the squad. But they're not.

I'm not particularly worried by the Brighton game as I have faith in Ten Haag's abilities as a coach on the training pitch. But I am hugely worried by the calibre of players he seems to target, and the club has to start overruling him if he, as seems to be the case, is the one picking out names like Brobbey, Arnautovic and Rabiot.

Arnatuovic

And the club were previously angry when Mourinho were targeting players like Boateng because he's past it.

Are we going forward or backward ?

Murtough and Arnold don’t have a clue. They just type ‘high potential fifa 17 career mode players’ and get to work.
It's the opposite, they don't have a clue so they're letting the manager whoever the feck he wants and just sign them regardless of their potential. Even the previous managers didn't have that much freedom, which means we're going backward in terms of recruitment strategy, as shit as we were previously.

Remember a nicely briefed article in the Telegraph bragging about how club were rejecting players because they were conducting background checks on their character etc. Doesn’t seem to be working.

We're shopping at the level we are at to be honest.

de jong and nunez are top 3 standard

Arnautovic and rabiot are 6-8 place standard

sadly true, the club still thinks it’s “best in the world” though.

Really do feel like every mid table Spanish side has a player of the profile we want. Just go raid one of them.

Erik ten Hag played with three defenders at Utrecht before he went to Ajax.

Play like:

Maguire - Varane - Martinez

Dumfries - new player (De Jong/Rabiot) - Eriksen/new player - Shaw/Malacia

Bruno/Eriksen/Van de Beek

Sancho - new player (or Rashford/Martial/Ronaldo)

even with playing the 343 we will still run into the same issue of the CM....and they'd be even a bit more exposed with only having 2 in there instead of 3 depending how the defensive shape is set up

Rabiot...can't believe we are linked with the 27yr old version of Matic...is too slow to play centrally in this system and we know McFred don't have the technical ability to do so

attacking wise it is just fine....those front 3 could come from bruno, eriksen, ronaldo, sancho, rashford, donny so we have the options.

Watching the TV or is it watching me
There cannot be any expectation that we finish top 4 this year there absolutely cannot be I don't see how there could.

Everyone in and around us have strengthened massively and we have lost 8 players and bought 3 I mean how can the target be top 4

This is what happened when you ask a Manager to double up as DOF which he has never perform in the roles.

We need a big window instead we get Malacia, Eriksen, Martinez, Arnautic and Rabiot. Feck me.

Well I wish I was wrong, but I do expect we are going to sign many well planned money ball type of signings, but not those knee jerk deadwood type of signings.

Is Arnautovic even that? Would West Ham buy him back right now? I'd say he's closer to a bottom-half signing. And slightly scared that that is the level we're at.

Is he though going after these players? Or he has been given little budget by the board?
