When (/if) we reach a level of competency on the ball such that we dominate possession, dictate the tempo, and hem the opposition in their own half, then at least Martinez has his strengths on show as well as his weaknesses. If you spend half the game conceding daft free kicks within striking distance of the box and as a result are trying to defend one chaotic ball into your box after another, then you definitely want a big dominant header of the ball. But clearly, the plan is to avoid being in that situation in the first place.
