No. Nobody pressing with any intensity causes the issues. You can’t have a high line without pressing - you can’t give them time on the ball. Frank quite literally just said they targeted our left side. Deliberately. If he was so fecking shit you’d think they’d go the right side wouldn’t you? The first 3 goals have sod all to do with him. It’s the same scapegoat bollocks all the fecking time.
Yeah he wasn't as big of a problem as others today but he is also very clearly part of the issues here. He's just not a top level centerback. He's better than what he's shown the past year, but he's still not good enough or suited to what we need.

Been following United since the early 90s, and Maguire is the worst captain by some distance we've had in that time.

Not simply because of his on field performances (those count too: he is far too often one of the worst players on the pitch, and very rarely one of the best ones), but he is completely unfit for purpose based on his off-field antics. Bigging himself up, hiding from responsibility, just offering the same shite excuses over and over when he does bother making an appearance. The man shouldn't be playing for United, but he sure as feck should never be wearing the captain's armband again.

Thought he was the least bad of the 4 main defenders but he doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

It takes so little to make Maguire completely irrelevant: one opposing forward makes a run behind Maguire, anywhere on the pitch, and that's it. We saw it with Welbeck against Brighton and now their 4th goal. He simply can't get back in time to influence events.

This CB partnership of Maguire and Martinez is an astonishing managerial decision. The logic is beyond me.

Wow. He was fecking miles - and I mean miles - better than any of the other 4 players he played with at the back today. Yet I can see on here and Twitter via the Goldbridge cnut he’s to blame. Again. Good stuff.
Less worse maybe the better word.

He did his part in unnerving our players with his slow decision leading to the throw in. That throw in is more a disadvantage than losing the ball up the pitch with a chance to counter press. We let Brentford counter press us and resulted quickly in the goals, and other mistakes. Then that passed to Eriksen and him got booked. Not very different to DDG stupid pass to Eriksen in second goal.

The 4th goal also exposed him in a high line.

He was really poor but probably our best defender just by not being as bad as the others. Him and Martinez are never going to work as a partnership.

The three useless gits who let the Brentford player leave their box and have the time to pick the pass was at fault. If you play a high line YOU PRESS WITH INTENSITY. Nobody fecking runs. Ever. He also had 93% pass accuracy. So no.
Due to his ball watching, Toney ran right past him and Martinez had to cover. A pass from the opposite box should not immediately cause a break. He was absolutely at fault. Said his long passing was poor (or at least it seemed that way)

This. It's just so easy to get behind him. Nearly every match he allows an opposition a player clean through.

It's a massive issue. Half the time he is ballwatching and forcing other players to cover for him.

He’s just a complete waste of space isn’t he. I don’t even get annoyed by him anymore, I just expect him to be awful every game .

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Completely gormless. Imagine being down in the trenches and looking at this guy for inspiration. You'd want to run into no mans land.
I do have to say that him looking like he was about to cry after the third goal was a bad look. After the fourth I wouldn't have cared so much, but after three there was still a chance. That's where you need to be trying to gee up the team and get them going again.

Smalling was so much better. We are such a stupid club
Even Axel is. He just massive problems with fitness that lad. He's 100% better than this absolute trashcan. He is legitimately slower than me. I'm an average joe runner and I'd look like sonic if I was to sprint battle this clown.

Not bad today
Agree, thought he was pretty decent to a man,

Playing alongside Martinez can't be easy for him, also playing behind such a leaky midfield in the first half must have been a challenge.

Slow in his feet and mind, worst United signing of all time.
I agree. Had to throw the captaincy his way to try and justify the outlay that went into him.

Speaking of captaincy, what a leader he is. Really marshalled the troops and instilled belief in them

Perhaps, the financial structure of the club is on the brink of collapse otherwise Maguire will have had to be fired. £80M paid for this boorish man in exhange for the total loss of fans and trophies.

Decent today, doesn’t help he’s in front of the goalkeeper we saw today, a non present midfield and a 5ft CB

He’s literally not better than what he’s shown though. He’s never been a part of any successful defense in his career (unless you want to count the Euros), he was a relegation scrapper that if it weren’t for his nationality never would have been bought from Leicester (who improved after he left just like we will).

You buy a defender that defends like he’s in a relegation side, you get relegation level performances. Much less buy that guy and give him the fecking armband for Manchester United.

He was awful. De Gea was awful. Shaw was awful. Maguire was awful. Stop trying to find excuses for this absolute fraud.

We lost by four today and people think Maguire was ok???? Have some standards
No no it's everyone else's fault. If only twe had 10 other players and s different manager then Maguire would show us all that he is, in fact, prime Maldini reincarnated.
Feck me man, people talk of a Ole cult or Rangnick cult, but Maguire's fans are the definition of delusion.

I'm beginning to think that Maguire is never out of the starting line-up because of another player in the team... David De Gea.

Allow me to explain...

De Gea refuses to collect any crosses that are played into the box, even into the 6-yard box. That means that it is left to our defenders to clear the ball every time, and who is the best defender we have at winning headers? Harry Maguire!

That is the reason we cannot drop Maguire... because he does De Gea's work!

More annoying that he seems to refuse to control the ball at times and heads it to no man’s land, that and he’s the easiest defender in the league to run in behind of.

He's a joke. He wasn't our worst defender today, but that's not saying much. He's not a good defender. He's not a good ball player. He's not a threat from set pieces. And he's a terrible, I say this again TERRIBLE leader. Do you ever see him cajole, shout, try to lift the players? Nope. Because he doesn't. And he's most certainly not leading by example. Actually, scratch that. Looking at the shambolic displays out there, perhaps he IS leading by example.

It absolutely sickens me to see this muppet wearing the armband. He should do the decent thing and give up the captaincy, because he shouldn't be starting, let alone leading the team.

Playing Maguire will not allow the team to play high. Everyone is scared to even play at the back.

Worst captain we've ever had.

Wish the club had brains to offer Leicester cash plus Maguire for Fofana (as Ive said before)

It surely can't be that difficult to separate an individual performance from the result can it? The team losing by 4 doesn't automatically mean a CB didn't play ok.

Couldn’t have said it better.

This all stems from the OgS regime where people nailed their colours to the manager/a few players so despite how clear it is that Maguire is playing average there’s a section of the fanbase that will make light of it.

I can't help but feel that our decline into absolute shite is inherently linked to him.

It began with spunking £80m on him and it'll only get better when he has permanent residency on our bench/somewhere else
