Also one thing I wanted him to do which the previous managers kept failing to do is just to remove complete failures and bring in youth who will actually work / run / track back. Us being outworked by every team is a shock.

With youth, they are more impressionable and will be more likely to follow instructions then some of the arrogant high wage guys we have

I'm at the stage where I'd accept relegation if it removed the owners so I'd get behind him playing the kids in every game.

Never gonna happen though.
What of we do get relegated and yet the owners still don't sell out? The last time we got relegated the owners held on.

One thing I didn’t like is he said in the post match presser that the plan was to go long today and beat their press. If that’s because we just aren’t ready to try and dominate the ball, fine, but I thought the whole point of someone like him was he was an advocate of a specific brand of football and that’s what we wanted to play long term?
I didn’t hear him say that but I’d personally be quite relieved if he did. I’d look at it the other way, why try and play a certain way if you haven’t got the players who can carry it out?

I think we play to our (current) strengths and evolve from there by bringing in the right personnel/coaching.

I can’t for the life of me understand why we are trying to play out from the back, I know that’s how he’d like us to play But we just don’t have the ability to do that, so why persist with it!

You want to beat a press with passing and quick player with our midfield. He can’t do it without players. Also going long to beat a press, all top teams do it.

I feel if we do play it safe, we’ll never actually make the transition to an attacking progressive team. It’ll be back to being a counter attack team who have a lot of money and can hang around the EL maybe CL spots but nothing more. If we want to actually try and win a major honour we need more than that but it’s going to be a painful change.

Don’t like the owners one little bit, but they’ve made vast sums available for transfers over the years. Problem has been that we’ve got nobody who knows how to spend it wisely.

No they haven't, they've only spent what we've earnt.

They never invested their own money ever since day one!

He's playing Shaw Maguire Rashford. They have got countless managers sacked.

Needs to sort that quickly

I don't care who he plays instead but they can't be worse.
His new signing Martinez looks like he's new to the sport not just the division. Jadon Sancho cost us 74m and he's been no better than Rashford.

Agendas everywhere.

I hear you and agree that it will be very painful if we stick with it, I fear if we do persist with the current approach, things are going to get a lot worse than today. we simply don’t have the personnel so are setting ourselves up to fail imo.

He used to do the same with Haller at Ajax sometimes too, particularly in bigger games. It gave them another route to beat the opposition press but it also didn't stop them from dominating possession either.

I would imagine that's why we've been linked with a lot of big CFs so far this summer too.

agree, but we’ve also spent huge sums of money and it’s been completely wasted, Galzers or not, we’ve spent comparatively with our competitors, just done it very badly (and contunue To do so)

But they have always hired the people who decide on how to spend the money

He has no one to protect. Stop covering the club and players incompetence. We need someone who is brave. This club will not change if he is just going to be a yes man. Be ruthless or no one will remember you.

At this point I’d be fine with him resigning, maximum shambles at this ‘club’ is needed until the owners sell.

We're right there with Erik, he's being set up to fail and be the new scapegoat

& just plunge us further and further behind City/Pool? What good would that do?
Think bigger picture mate. If you think we are ever getting back to that level with these owners you're kidding yourself.

The club must now reset totally before we move on. If that means losing ETH I don't give a rats. He can't succeed here anyway whilst it's being ran by morons so what's the problem???

I fear he might walk away if this isn’t sorted out by the end of the window. He seems the type

Good thing he doesn't have hair. If he had hair and it wasn't white it would be white as paint right now about.

We need some quality signings, everyone knows that. We may or may not get them. I agree the chances seem to be receding.

However, when the window shuts, I think we’ll see ETH start earning his money, showing us how he can assemble and develop a winning team from the players he has. He will cut out the chaff while he’s at it. It won’t be immediate but he’ll do it.

People don’t seem to like comparing our current manager’s position with Pep and Klopp when they came in. They both took time to settle and suffered pretty heavy defeats because there was work to do and it couldn’t be done immediately.

The state we are in now, when you look at the squad and results over the last year or so, is not that different to what SAF came into when he first joined here. There was a ropy squad with an attitude problem (in those days it was boozing and partying) and he had quite a job on to sort it out. There is a parallel with our current entitled, underperforming squad and these things can’t be sorted in a couple of weeks.

Having said that he may well be gone by November. The club is certainly shambolic enough to let that happen.
Either ETH thinks he can build a decent team with the players he has or he has not been backed by the Glazers. Either way he is toast. We know that the players are not good enough and if ETH is to do a Pep or Klopp he would need to get 3-4 quality players in during the next 3 windows. Not happening. Panic buying Rabiot or Arnautovic says it all. This is Moyes and Fellaini all over again. ETH thinks he can dominate teams a la Ajax. I was afraid of this situation and he was not prepared by the high standards of the PL. I see no signs that he can build a decent defence. If we can't scout players I don't think we can scout managers. He will probably try to beat Pool by playing possession football with Eriksen as no 6 and Maguire in a high line.

How the feck does that stuff get leaked to the press?! ETH is covering his arse, trying not to feck up his future job prospects. Just accept you’ve got it wrong in the first two games and have made less than zero impact in your time with the club.

What a complete and utter circus MUFC is!

Fecking comedy show. Circus Maximum type stuff this rubbish. I was buzzing about his appointment now to only realize he'll get sacked in record time.

If you'd asked at the end of last season what would happen if we started this season only having signed a CB, a back-up LB and Eriksen then most posters on here would have predicted a disaster.

There's no mystery as to why this is happening. All the problems we knew we had, we had.

It was said from the start he may struggle here. He comes from a league we’re the quality is lower, we’re he worked in one of the best ran clubs in the world, with a great recruitment team.

He’s come into one of the worst ram clubs in the world, with easily the worst recruitment team, he’s obviously having to/ wanting to take play a part in the recruitment process (so far with car crash level results) at same same time deal with a mix match badly put togther squad with attitude problems that has been poorly coached for most of the past 5 years. Plus he is having to adapt to a league we’re the opposition is a higher quality.

This was always going to be a baptism of fire, I don’t think any one thought it would go this bad, but it was always going to be an up hill struggle. Let hope he starts climbing that mount and gets some help from the clubs Board and brings some people who can handle recruitment.

Turning on ETH as expected.
Don’t know about United fans overall, but some of the redcafe posters don’t deserve anything.
Complete and utter toxicity.
