A bit rich coming from Musk's biggest fan.
I don’t give a shit if Musk dies tomorrow and certainly I am not gonna mourn for 10 days.

The royals are the worst. Not in an individual level, the Queen seemed to have been a somewhat decent person. But what they represent is everything I despise. People who have been raised since they were born as being better than others, by virtue of some great-great-great-ancestor having been the biggest prick in the town. People that for most part wouldn’t piss in you if you will be in fire, because you know, they are better. And then mourning for these people, give me a break.

Even their symbolic power is ludicrous. Technically, stupid George can fire the PM and the parliament. The winner of the next election has to ask him to allow become the new PM. It is symbolic, but it is so undemocratic and ludicrous.

Are you having a laugh?
How can you even compare the two.
9/11 was an absolute mindfeck of monumental proportions, you literally witnessed live on TV thousands of people of all walks of life lose their lives in seconds when those buildings came down.

How can you possibly compare that to a 96 years old woman dying peacefully.

One of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever read online and believe me, that’s one hell of a feat.
Jesus Christ, it’s quite fecking obvious what the poster meant. Stop making a mountain out of a molehill

It's a major event, it will be hanging on people's minds, the media, etc. Why can't some of you just accept that maybe some of the players themselves wont be up for it, not to mention the atmosphere will be completely different.
I'm finding it very hard to imagine any of them giving a feck.

Are you guys just plain dumb or just struggle to comprehend a sentence?

He’s saying it’s the biggest event in HIS lifetime apart from 9/11. How the feck is that comparing the two. Big events in someone’s lifetime are subjective to them. Who the feck are you to tell him what’s a significant event in his life?

9/11 was in its own league, you saw live on TV thousands of people of all walks of life lose their lives in seconds when those buildings came down.

Don’t try to talk sense into these guys. How is a woman who was born into royalty and presided over a colonial empire which was responsible for classism (and a host of other things) dying even remotely considered significant?

Thought the English were over all that crap but clearly not.

Will ours still be on then seen as we are the Sunday?
Do they even know funeral is going to be on Saturday? Some reports say Monday 19th September. Would seem strange to cancel fixtures hundreds of miles away from London 48 hours away from the funeral.

We're playing Southampton at home next Friday and think Forest are playing that night aswell so would be very disappointing if they called these off as I don't see the need once we've had a week of mourning.

They’ve cancelled all grassroots football too, one day before the start of the season which all of the kids have been looking forward too. Such an absurd decision.

So annoying that the games are off, but if there's even the slightest chance it brings her back we have to at least try, right?

How is that 9/11 comment, which is totally fair, boiling so much piss?!
Because we have a bunch of spoons on here who want to make something out of nothing because they identify themselves as a spoon.

Wow. And I thought forced mourning was something that happened in North Korea.

Surely the worst thing about all of this is that I might have to watch F1 now?

Nobody wants to watch F1... not on purpose anyway.

Because it is a ludicrous comparison. 9/11 was the prelude that caused the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, which later caused the Middle East spring, the millions of refugees, the increase in Islamophobia and in the White Nationalism/right-wing populism. We also have to go over that ritual in airports.

Yesterday an old woman who wears funny hats died, and now an old man who doesn’t usually wear funny hats replaces her. It doesn’t have any effect on anyone’s life, except their own family. A week from now, the England, the UK, the Commonwealth and the rest of the world will continue like nothing happens. Her biggest virtue was that she lived long, but her absence won’t change anything for people outside of that family.

Pretty much my whole sentiment on this. The Queen seemed the best of the bunch. But the rest can get to feck.

Them playing is entertainment. Them training is not.

It's why I'm at 99.9% of people are at work as normal today but there's no live sporting events going on.
Tuchel's football can hardly be described as that.

Which other sports are cracking on as normal this weekend?
The test cricket match, the PGA Championship in the golf, the full rugby league calendar including the Super League play-off, and the Premiership rugby union matches scheduled for the weekend are all expected to go ahead. That's pretty much all the big ticket sport in England tomorrow and Sunday.

He didn’t compare the two though. He said these 2 events are the most “significant” in his lifetime. That’s all.

It's not the Queen's fault the US school system has failed you to the point that you can't read and understand a basic sentence.

It was not a comparison. How on earth can you people function without the basic ability to read?

I don't believe it's necessary to cancel the PL fixtures this weekend.

As previously mentioned, it gives an opportunity for a stadium full of people to pay their respects before the game with 2 minutes silence.

Yet again demonstrating that the people who run football, shouldn't be in charge of anything important.

Just hope they don't cancel the following week too. One week is enough.

Afraid I got some bad news for you, mate. Funeral is gonna be next weekend, they are already cancelled it. Hopefully UEFA goes as ahead this week or else next time we play will be Oct 2nd.

France - can't win anything with Swedish turnips
This thread is really bringing out the whoppers.
The decision to cancel the fixtures makes zero sense - from my point of view for several reasons - it will probably end up as two sets of matches which will in effect make an already cramped season even more difficult, especially if there are other events along the way. Playing football is not a lack of respect.

I can get over not watching football for a weekend.

It's the falseness of it all, it's not happened before except for the odd match. It's the state of the UK in 2022 - that's the problem.
