Majin Buu also looked undefeated until Goku showed him whos boss.

My guess is he'll get completely destroyed by Martinez the next time they meet. Its destiny.

Reminds me of when I used to hate/love thierry henry.

You can't help but admire them. feck sake.
Least with Henry we were never close to signing whereas this could well be down to Nicky Butt by the sounds of it. No wonder he left the club after letting this slip through fingers.

Agreed and Haaland has higher outputs at his age than Messi, Ronaldo did but then again Ronaldo and Messi were incredible to watch. Haaland I think has a very good chance of beating their goal records though since he's a striker and Messi / Ronaldo were wingers up until they hit the age of 30ish.
He won't. Look at the size of him, he'll suffer with injuries much more than Messi and Ronaldo did.

He's got the game on easy mode now that he's at city.

The quality of delivery he gets coupled by his finishing abillity...it might really get them their first CL.

Feel sick. feck.

To think that he wouldn't join us us, partly because our ex-manager couldn't guarantee him as starter (in favor of the mighty Martial).

His goalscoring rate wont be sustainable. People are losing their shit because its his time now. Other legends that are compared to him had their droughts and teams were specifically setup to stop them, it just hasn't happened to Halaand yet. When that happens and he still finds his mojo back and an answer to being marked by several players in every match without losing confidence in the process is when you need to start worrying. Thats how Ronaldo and Messi became the best, you couldnt stop them and its hard to put them under pressure. Haaland is much more limited so we will see. My guess is against teams that park the bus ala Jose he wouldnt be effective at all so the comparison with Messi and Ronaldo (during their peak) is a bit daft.

Not only is he scoring at a ridiculous rate but he’s already won them points in the PL and CL. Amazing player.

As great as Haaland is, I’m not sure the goal was as great as it looks. He did great to get his foot on it like he did but the GK was shocking. It literally went through him.
Both goals should have been saved but Haaland showed great technique for the goal and goalscorers will always get a little luck along the way

I like him as a player but I realize that I’m going to hate having to see this thread forever for the rest of my life.

I find it interesting he is reduced to goal-poacher every certain amount of posts. He may be electric inside the box, but he's far more than that.

In fact, it's interesting to note the lens people feel comfortable perceiving him through whilst redacting chunks of information that don't fit with said perception.

If he were 'just' a poacher, his threat would be far less than it is. There's considerably more to his game.

Most of his goals have come inside the 6 yard box. I’m trying to think of any since the start of the season that haven’t.

He's such a unique and ridiculous player. It's irritating I can't enjoy that spectacle in the slightest, so I hope he leaves after a couple seasons.

Wasn't enough for City to financially dope for the last 14 years, they had to buy this guy too. Pointless.

Why does this thread become active everyone he scores? The obsession is a bit weird. Guy scores goal > need to post in halaand thread
To be fair, it is a Haaland watch thread. It would be even more weird if people posted in here when he’s not playing.

There are so many legit reasons for taking a dump on us or Ole. Why pull something out of your arse for it?

That's why I don't get all the doom and gloom. So far, he has shown to be a limited one trick pony. There's no variety in his finishes. He can't change the game on his own. As long as he doesn't start firing deadly long-range shots, we should be able to deal with him.

you don't get bonus points for scoring outside the box.

Boehly will probably suggest that soon enough mind

But is that because he's a poacher or that he's simply lethal in the box? If he were a 'mere' poacher, he'd be difficult to stop, but there'd still be a blueprint and a run of procedures to execute.

His runs, movement and intrinsic knowledge of how to drag defenders to where he wants them falls in line with a completely different archetype of forward, and for me, it's equally problematic when it comes to stopping him, particularly so when defenders know he has the drop on them athletically, which means they have to be counter-intuitive and take half-step, anticipatory movements because they have no chance from a standing start in either pace or strength especially when it's allied to such explosiveness and freakish agility.

There's a hell of a lot of nuance that goes into what he does in and outside the box and I think a lot of it is being missed or ignored. A true nightmare of a forward, one who, more than likely, will have his body fail on him before any set of tactics or freak defenders come alone that can match him outright do.

Yes I don’t disagree. It was brilliant ability to even get to hit the ball like he did. But it should never be a goal. Dortmund just needed to play a goalkeeper tonight and they would have won.

You mean the same manager who dumped Martial at the first sign of Ronaldo? Let’s not be silly.

Haaland would have gone straight into the team if Ole signed him.

I mean it doesn't mean we have to 'watch' it like we have a hard on for him.

The amount of tears in this thread every time he scores is pretty embarrassing.
The drooling is even more embarrassing. Don't think anybody has tears. City have been out of league for ages now.

Tbf, it's difficult to watch him and not have a hard on for him. He's mental. I do avoid watching City and Pool as much as possible to help with this:lol:

Thanks for this - I posted previously that his striker instincts or behaviour remind me of van Nistelrooy the most. This touch & goal map adds to that for me.
With the way City play that's no great surprise.
Agreed - he's probably the perfect striker for Pep's way of playing currently.

To be honest, I'd say it's harder to find space and time being this close to the goal line. It's why strikers who can find that yard/half yard of space are highly sought after. And if he's clearing up the chances in the box, occupying defenders, it only means there's space for runners from midfield and the likes of Bernardo Silva, de Bruyne etc.

I wouldn't say he's a poacher, and I wouldn't say he's a new type of forward either. He's got the physical presence of a old fashioned number 9, with the predatory instincts of the likes of van Nistelrooy. With the likes of Man City's midfield, he'll have plenty of chances per game to capitalise.

100%. someone that good that close to the net is incredibly valuable.
