Absaloutely infuriating that ETH didn't make changes after 15 mins when it was obvious we were in for a pasting. It could be 8 at half time that's how bad it was.

He has five fecking subs and didn't make a single one. Unbelievable.
Changing players after 15 minutes would be considered bad man management. And i would agree.

You wait until HT to make tactical changes, unless its an injury.

He made the wrong choice, or he was made to believe that the players put out there from the start would be up for the task.

    He was wrong.

And our players are cowards. At least make it a fight.

There is definitely at least some blame that goes to Ten Hag here. To play that open midfield against this city team was begging for trouble from the beginning. This philosophy of "you don't change a winning team" is the clearest sign of ractical incompetence from a coach. You have to set up your team based on the opponent's tendencies not because they won games against other teams. It was bound to catch up to him at some point.

Sat the kids down an hour before kick off to tell them their mum has brain cancer (genuinely, sorry for the gloom).

Put the game on hoping for something, anything, some fight, to give us a bit of a lift.

And then they do that. Cnuts. All of them.
    Sorry to hear .

It’s going to be like this for a while, a handful of decent games with a complete capitulation performance every now and again. Too many just not good enough and it’ll take time to weed them out and replace. Worryingly some of our more recent signings like Sancho have been crap, we tend to make too many very expensive mistakes.

This is possibly the one of the greatest PL teams of all time we’re losing to. Take the L and move on.
There's taking a lose and there's taking a LOSE. We haven't laid a glove on them and our big name players who are probably on more money than their lot our hiding.

Rashford is looking for a new contract. Is he seriously worth 250k????

Only plus side, I have to drop the kids off at a party so will miss the second half. I'm willing to risk missing the greatest comeback off al time.

There's no midfield out there and zero urgency. Some blame definitely lies with the players but he's gotten rid of most of the starting eleven from last season. We've shown absolutely nothing.
And you think some of the starting eleven from last season could do better?!

What boils my piss is folk who just immediately jump to chastising the manager. He’s been here what, 3 months or so? This is the Chelsea way of thinking and why it’s a bloody revolving door of managers which isn’t healthy. He was never going to create miracles immediately and you’d be a fool for thinking he would.

Im not saying he’s completely blameless but in this context, imo, these players take the brunt as they show absolutely no desire or footballing intelligence today, the passing has been awful and their intensity non existent.

I think City are pretty close to answering that question, what they're doing is pure poetry and even though it's painful for me to watch it's undeniable that the way they play is the point of football.
It's financial doping, it's not poetry, it's very much cobra Kai. This is not what karate is all about.

Those third and fourth goals, Man City just strolling through the midfield with no-one near them. We've got 3 pretty lightweight attackers and Fernandes, a number 10, on the pitch. Something has to give within that in big games, it doesn't work.

Getting spanked by City = Worlds fallen apart. We’re so fecking shit. £225M spent for nothing. What a waste of space we are!

Getting 4 wins on the trot = We’re back & patience is needed! Future is looking bright! Top 4 is looking promising!

Being outplayed by City is 'fine', but I can't understand the lack of aggression and intensity. Like night and day from the Liverpool game

Don't even try to pretend that ronaldo would be as poor as sancho and rashford have been. the problems start each time when we don't hold the ball up front - then they just break on us. antony and bruno might as well have stayed in bed
    He absolutely would have been.

Men vs boys. Literally. We clearly can't play it out from defence, end up hoofing it, but midfield/forward players are scared to be clattered for second balls, so just give it up. If there was a mentality table, we'd be barely afloat.
Defence might be shat on, but they are doing their best, and clearing balls they get on the end of, not being helped with forward and midfield players expecting to get ball at their feet and have 3 options available without a press, they just keep coming at them.
Need a double DCM pivot with balls, and ACM who isn't trying to play a Hollywood ball within half a second of recieving a ball.

    This is on the Manager
You cant play a 1 man midfield against city
He had to to play Scot and Casemiro/Fred
It’s like he hasn’t watched city play before
We got away with it against Liverpool and Arsenal
The Manager is learning on the Job…not good
He is getting owned and sk00led by his follically challenged blue peer.

Strange decision to play that front three today and it has cost us massively, not enough pace in Sancho and Anthony to really hurt city and get behind the full backs and Rashfords hold up play and link up isnt really good enough.

They have given the ball away for fun and we have come under relentless pressure. And of course as soon as we are forced to try and defend higher to chase a game the wheels come completely off with a GK who hasn't yet left his goal line, might aswell not been there for any of the goals, to scared of getting hurt as per usual.

Come on, they don't beat Liverpool or Spurs like they do us. 4-0 at HT, who else have they done that against ?
if liverpool play against city as they played against brighton, they'll get at least as spanked as we are getting

That’s a cop out. Other teams have come up against city this year and put up a much better fight. Teams who we would say are worse than us.
Completely agree with this a thousand times. Just rolling over and saying "they're better, we're going to lose anyway" is shite level mentality. Football is a fecking game. Play the game, get better at playing the game, and play to win. Even if you lose, there's a right way to lose. You have to leave everything out there and be able to leave that pitch feeling that you gave it everything. Our lot aren't even giving 10%!

I think we’d started to show belief, building up a momentum before the Nations league took preference. We back to where we were pre the Brentford game again, our passing and fitness looks abysmal.

The biggest problem is our effort seems to be once again crap. You look at their players and their effort compared to us, and it is night and day.

I'd agree with that, extremely naive from him. This is one game I wouldn't have minded going 451

Keane is right about the occasion been too big for this Utd team , we are mentality midgets in these big games , our touch , passing , tracking back etc everything is just so under par.

Our players don't believe they should even be on the same pitch as these City players , and on that first half they are right.

And remember we are at full strength, they are missing a few.
