Impossible to not like Harry Kane. Get him to OT.
That ship has probably sailed. If he was gonna move it was gonna be to city. He had his chance and it never happened. He’s spurs till he retires unless someone wants to pay 100m for him.

Griezmann has turned into a box to box #8 and has been France’s best player in the WC after Mbappe. His ball playing and passing has gotten even better as he’s gotten older. Getting close to him is key to stopping France.

It's a match where Fergie would have deployed Park or Jones to mark him out of the game

Big test against France. Only played 1 halve decent team so far and we drew 0-0. People get carried away after beating a bunch of amateur teams. I think with a better manager then this England team can hit new levels. Don’t see it with Southgate.

Apart from Spain, no big team has played a big team yet. And still a lot of points were dropped

The only team that matters
Don't fancy our chances - maybe 60.40 because of Maguire and Mbappe
Both play on the left so not really a direct contest, if Mbappe switches then he's gotta get past Shaw first!

That’s mental that theory/rule. The only unnatural position your arm can be is if it’s broken or detached. That’s unnatural.
Otherwise you’d see defender just throwing their body with both hands up when blocking a shot. Just like john terry used to do.
But yeah agreed. That penalty was extremely soft.

Even the greatest joke in the world becomes tiresome after 26 FECKIN YEARS. If you don't believe me ask literally any non english person on planet earth.
You are literally like the old annoying relative who turns up at your house every 2 years and sings the same shite boring song that insults everyone else and cant understand why everyone else thinks your a right prick.
But hey its the world cup. just having a laugh
England invented the game mate.
We are rarely, if ever the best at playing it but if we ever win the World Cup again it will have come home
………..it’s coming………..

The French will target Maguire either way. You don't need to be Pep to figure that out. And it will probably work.

I feel like this is the first time in 20 yrs, England are playing to their potential.
Playing at Xmas in air conditioned stadiums is also helping energy levels. Though you wouldn't know it from the first 30 minutes tonight.

As an Englishman just putting it out there that I find the coming home thing pretty irritating too. Don’t think it’s rarely ever said seriously but even as a joke was funny for about ten minutes then time to move on. Only good thing about is it annoys other fans who think it’s serious, that’s one redeeming feature,

Since the birth of the internet, anywhere you find happy England fans you have grumpy other fans not far behind, because of x y and z.

My point was… we’ll see what we can do against the big boys before getting all excited. We’ve got a lot tougher run up to the final then we had in the last competition when we fluffed it against Croatia.

I know… it’s probably not the right song or chant for us. Maybe for teams that win major trophy’s more regular but for a team that last won it in 1966 . It’s been away from home for a very very long time.

Isn't that precisely why it's fun? If Iceland or Saudi Arabia had a chant about how they are going to win the tournament I'd find it fun. I definitely wouldn't take it as an affront and get all shirty about how they haven't won anything and all that jazz. If anything it'd be lamer for a successful team like Brazil or Germany to regularly sing a song along those lines.

Yeah but that kind of sums up the awkwardness of it. We’re not bad enough for it to be an obvious joke. Just kind of cringey, think even baddiel and skinner hate that song now one of them said they hoped it would be retired after the women’s team won.

We've definitely been bad enough to justify it! Our last win was 1966! Also that last bit doesn't sound right. They literally put out an updated Christmas version 2 weeks ago .

The sheer number of posters putting France up there on a pedestal when they were struggling against Poland in their first half, They are not France 1998 or Brazil 2002, come on....
Agreed, I am not particularly confident about England's chances but france have looked fallible at times. Poland were hopless going forward in the group stages but still gave France problems

I get the feeling the winner of England France could go all the way. On paper Brazil are the biggest other threat but it would also depend on Neymar's fitness.

Do you see them beating Argentina or Netherlands in a semi final then I presume
