I have a hard time to criticize him for that when the same team or structure with Fred in the middle and Bruno on the right completely shut down City 1 week ago battering them on the counter. The problem is that we had Casemiro instead of McTominay then. We couldn't bring the ball to our forwards in the last 20 minutes or so and am not sure if McFred midfield would help in that sense.
Well, the problem is not so much the set-up, as the fact we had to play the same team 3 timed in a week.

It boggles the mind why us and City had games rescheduled during mid-week and Arsenal didn't.

Very disappointed by his comments after the match. This is not about bad defending. When you sit back and invite pressure like this you’ll eventually get punished. It’s just not fitting for a club of our size to capitulate like that. No pressure. No attacking threat. It’s what Burnley would do. Completely unacceptable and judging by his comments he hasn’t realised that which is very worrying to me.

No it’s more a case of look at the massive progress and the fact that we weren’t that far off a draw or win against a team that has had years of preparation.
Knowing that we've progressed and criticising the manager aren't mutually exclusive things. His in-game management was poor today. Don't be weird

People should understand that arteta has been with them for 3 years and ETH only been with us for a matter of months. We beat them 3-1 at OT and only lost today by a last minute goal. Massive progress made by us. To even be in the game against top of the league is quite good.
Exactly this.

we’ve just lost to the league leader - the fact we even had a chance is down to our manager. Give him time and hopefully we will be able to challengefor the title again soon

He’s the best thing to happen to this club for a long time.
Sort the ownership out, back him in the summer and we’ll mount a challenge.
We were massively handicapped this year following those first 2 games when he was finding out about the side.

Arteta is in his 3rd year at Arsenal, ETH 6mths beaten once and lost by a close offside?

The guy has done a quality job so far , let hope the club is sold and more investment in summer another pre season with new players especially a striker. I think the way the season has gone so far is very very good. Go on to win a cup would be great and a now a 3rd place at least finish in the prem. Doing OK he is

Spot on.

There's some proper fecking melts on here, posting paragraphs of waffle, in a cringey attempt to support their pathetic agenda.
Agree. I often see people here make fun of other fan sites like Rawk, Bluemoon and Arsenalmania (?) of how bad or ridiculous some of the posts there are but i cant imagine they are worse than here. :houllier:

ETH just loses a game to the league leader and some write him off or want him out. He isnt making the subs they scream for and he is a shit manager.

Why? I think he's potentially a great coach, but when it comes to recruitment we need to stop this nonsense of just buying whatever crap the manager wants.
He also bought Casemiro, Erikkesen, Martinez and Malacia. All them have been a hit. Anthony has had 11 games in the PL and has 3 goals. Hes out of form at the min but yet you have based your entire judgement of a manager in the transfer market on a handful of games from one player.

Not to mention the shit hand he was dealt with Casemiro getting suspended, and having a tough mid-week away game thrown into the mix.

He is still experimenting with a paper thin squad and I don't mean that as a criticism. It's really hard when you don't have a lot of solutions apart from playing a bunch of kids.

Not going anywhere under him. We might scrape top4 but only because Liverpool and Chelsea are in meltdown. Same old cycle.

Doing no better than Ole after spending 200m.
Please tell me this is a joke post?

Edit: I just seen your other posts after this, and my god your actually serious

Some people on here are so laughably dramatic

I guess going from last season to losing in the last minute to the league leaders after we beat them earlier in the season and have a great big game record is something to panic about?

Casemiro was a club signing remember - for publicity and all that crap. That was the prevailing opinion.

Fine - give him the token £10-12m to spend every summer. But he shouldn't be anywhere near the big decisions. Antony is genuinely a joke of a signing.

You probably wanted Alex Ferguson to be sacked in the 80’s did you not?

Spot on. Rewind to the start of the season and the end of last and it's night and day. I never redirected us to win here...I had 3-1 goons.

Such a class manager though. It's weird feeling confident and optimistic and knowing that you are right there and close to truly reaching the very top again. 0 doubt in my mind. Good to see.

This is a ridiculous comparison, against City he had Garnacho, Antony and Rash to threaten the counter until the end.

In this game, he chose to completely surrender without the ability to threaten any space.

"Martial...He's isolated Skrtel here..."
Thought he made a mistake with Weghorst over Garnacho. We simply didn't have a threat in the final third besides Rashford isolations, and Garnacho would have given us another outlet to play on the counter.

As far as the midfield options go, I preferred Fred over McT but neither is a good option with Eriksen anyways. We simply don't have any depth at the position.

Bottom line is against a team that's going to press like Arsenal you have to have enough technical quality to play out of it and the XI we had today simply didn't. Watch how effortlessly Odegaard/Partey/Xhaka/Zinchenko/White/Ramsdale play out from the back and then watch us try to do the same while employing DDG/McTominay/AWB/Weghorst. It's a gulf in quality on the ball between those groups and was the difference today for me.

That’s the thing really, he’s only been here 7 months and personally I think we would have easily won if Casemiro was on the pitch. We went toe to toe with them for much of the game.

AwB was a bit of a liability both at the back post and playing out from the back, and Eriksen disappeared in the second half. Two to three decent acquisitions in the summer and we’re challenging for the title.
We need a lot more than that to be honest.

If we're only going for the PL title then yeah 2 or 3 decent quality players is fine but to compete in other competitions in addition to the PL we need a lot more strength in depth. McTominay needs to go. Eriksen can't play the full 90. Lindelof and Maguire, Martial is never fit. Oh and Jones is still collecting a paycheck.

We'll need at least 7 players IMO.

Yeh I know, I'm just shocked we have so called 'fans' like this. Anyone who doesn't see progress this season under him clearly needs to find a different sport to watch, because they clearly know nothing about football.

Casemiro a club signing? were you involved in the signing to know this for sure? The absolute state of some of the comments on this thread is a complete joke. Thank god you and your likes are not running the club. Talk about feckin drama queens.

Absolutely, still fuming about that. City with their insane depth can even take it (they rested DeBruyne, Walker, Silva, Foden, Cancelo... in midweek), but we just don't have that luxury and the team outside of first 11 is really thin.

It's madness. We've lost 2 games since that City defeat. Drawn 2 we deserved to win. But it's still not enough to win 20 odd games in that run, have every single player improve and have our team structure and style of play look better than it ever has. From going to absolute laughing stock in world football to beginning to be taken seriously again within 6 months, but we lose one game and it's all out the window :houllier:. It's as if no football teams ever lose a game of football.

People have to understand, Arsenal had the most touches in our box than in any other game this season.

How he decided to defend that deep is still a mystery. His game management is wanting to say the least.

Also how he's handled the team this past week has been shambolic..

Maybe he thought he would autopilot through the week, but alas we have been stung in the tail properly.

ETH will note that his decision to not take Casemiro off at 60 minutes against Palace may have inadvertently cost his team 4 critical league points. I'm sure he will learn from this and default to not repeating such a mistake again.

I love Eric but he definitely could have done more to help us today.

Even going to a 3-5-2 might have been better to hang on.

I think 2-3 and we’re good. We’ve got some decent prospects coming through and ETH hasn’t long been in the job, some of our existing players will step up as he gets more time with the players. It’s his first season.

If you look at Pep and Klopp as recent examples, neither did much in their first season. It takes longer than that to mould the squad.

It's fine, the PL apologised apparently. The same way the refs apologised when they assigned that idiot Taylor to ref us twice this month after screwing up against Villa.

Keep up mate. Good signings the club were responsible and bad signings ETH is at fault.

I'd sack him if we don't beat Reading by 3 or 4 goals.
