We have a Norwegian with more potential in the academy. I actually consider him the most talented player in our academy. Isak Aaron Hansen. I also earmarked Garnacho to be in the first team 2yrs ago.
Doesn't count, he has a neck tattoo...
Would love to have a Norwegian in the team again, hope he makes it.

Have to hold my hands up and say I was so wrong about this lad. He's immense. Primarily based it off his underwhelming loan spell.

Currently best attacking midfielder in the League. It helps that all Arsenal players are comfortable with the ball at their feet, especially their wings, so has more time to be in attacking positions.

Would be strange to have you lot bumping threads with praise of our players instead of rivals for a change.

 . Especially the Haaland thread. It’s currently like a juiced up version of the Coleman and James McCarthy love-in the Irish boys were giving for most of the mid 2010s

Anyone compared him to Laudrup M yet?

He’s looking like the kind of player Madrid buy for obscene amounts. heh.

I mean, he’s a great talent from what I’ve seen of him but is there any reason to suggest that an 18 years old player that hasn’t even been remotely close to be playing for the first team regularly has more potential than the guy who was already playing for his national team aged 15, fully establishing himself as a starter at 19 while also playing at a high level at Eredivisie? I’m not sure if Hansen-Aarøen has even made a debut for Norwegian U-21 team yet.

It’s more of a rhetorical question but feel free to answer it if you’d like to.
Yeah he's a weird one. No hype around him whatsoever in our press which is unusual since every tom, dick and harry that has an ounce of promise gets hyped to death.

But he has been involved with the first team on various occasions this season so obviously ETH sees something in him and hopefully has a plan for him.

Why did Ole not bring him in :( It was clear from his Sociedad spell that he is turning into an excellent player

He's not fast or aggressive enough. All these long shots lucky goals will eventually dry up for Arsenal.

Are we praising rivals? I'm guessing there are some in the Haaland thread? I don't like him at all, but he's unfortunately pretty good :(
Ødegaard is a much more likeable person than Haaland, so i have no problem saying he's good, and i wish we had signed him.

My memory might be rubbish but I feel like there aren't many young players who burst onto the scene as a 16-18 year old and then have a couple of years where you think the potential is gone and then they show that they truly were top quality. Most seem to fade away or carry that 18 year old momentum. I think that's testament to his mentality really.

Yeah, it's quite an unlikely trajectory, although those who thought that that potential was truly gone were a bit kneejerk — he was clearly still a great young player during his time in Castilla & Eredivisie, albeit not the next greatest thing great.

Still, can't really think of anyone off the top of my head. Someone like Bergkamp comes to mind but even he had that bump later in his career when he was already an established player.

This guy has been steadily improving from the moment he joined the league. Incredible player. If he keeps going like this and Arsenal win the league he might actually have a genuine shout at the POTY. Haaland will probably still get it but if he has a slower second half of the season, Odegaard might end up being the guy.

He gets a lot of praise for what he's able to do with the ball. But his off the ball work is so underrated, he's a pressing machine and really seems to have a good mentality. He's come up a few times this season with clutch passes and goals when we desperately needed them.

It's no surprise he's the captain for Norway at a young age and Arteta made a good decision in giving him the armband.

The guy can see the future, I'm sure of it. Every time there's a rebound or lose ball in the opponent's half, he's there. Annoying as shit to play against.

Arsenal hit the jackpot with this transfer. The guy just turned 24 and is already captain too

Can't believe we used to debate Ødegaard v Bruno. Where does he even go from here? He's not exactly going to go back to Madrid.

It’s ridiculous to think we had a Norwegian manager when Ødegaard and Haaland changed clubs. They LOANED him from Madrid! What was Ole doing?

He is good at what he does but he shines even more when he is facing people who give acres of space. I honestly think if he is more closely man marked, you can limit him more but easier said than done

Don’t think he did that much, all their threat came from wide.
Zinchenko and Saka were miles better than anyone else on that pitch

We already had Bruno who at the time was miles ahead. And Team Haaland was smart to join Dortmund before taking the final(?) step.

If he keeps up like this he can pretty much chose where he wants to go, although for the time being he should stay in Arsenal and keep them challenging for titles.

Ole tried to sign Haaland, you should go back and look at the comments in that thread. Aparantly Haaland is a donkey, white Lukaku, and yeah, not many wanted him then.

That double touch pass that Xhaka nearly got on the end of was something else.
