Not wanting the Glazers shouldn’t automatically equate to being ok with the Qataris.
The oil boys WILL buy United. Said it for months. The likes of them will storm in whoever is interested. You've seen this week why nobody will try and build the PA of a club anymore. If the City owners bought United, it would have cost them a lot more, but you are essentially buying history, built in fame and the glory that does with it. They wouldnt have had to feck about swapping from bank to bank on fake advertising and licensing. This week of all weeks should telly you who the big boys in football are. The ones who dont need success on the pitch to retain their fanbase,

That’s the thing, ETH announced ‘you always see an era come to an end’ and he’s doing really well at beating Klopp and Pep - we are on this title race in his first year. Even if we don’t win this season or next, I want him to succeed and earn that success not just be handed it. That would definitely be a hollow victory over the scousers and especially City if we stoop to their levels.

That's true, but the way it's being reported, the Qatari group will have no problem redeveloping the infrastructure and also develop the area surrounding the club.
I actually think the profile of player Chelsea were going after by the end is exciting. Gusto, Badiashille, Enzo…The fact they’ve signed 25 of them at the cost of 600m over 4 months is the issue. What wouldn’t excite me is us spending 200m on Mbappe. That’s just meaningless to me. I also don’t think ETH would want him - and that’s the great fear I have. People coming in thinking they’re Billy big bollocks upsetting ETH.

Yeah. I think the sense of pride at building something properly without a cheat code gets taken away once we get oil money. It then turns into pretty much every year we don't win the treble is a failure and even when we win the CL or PL, I doubt I'll feel the same joy I felt in 08 for example
Saying that, there are of course some genuinely good people in that part of the world too. And they are football mad, and fair chance that they actually are United fans. It's just... Unlikely that it would actually be a specific normal guy vs representing the state of Qatar all of a sudden
I was here before the Glazers and will be here after them. I outlasted Martin Edwards as chairman. I will outlast the new owners too. Nothing will effect my support of United, it’s been ever present. Short of fan ownership we’re always going to be owned by at best someone morally dubious, at worst reprehensible.

My gut feeling is that a Qatari bid would be blocked by the PL. A lot has happened since they allowed the Saudis to buy Newcastle - Russia invading Ukraine, unfitness of Abramovich exposed, the extent of City's blatant cheating and power plays with lawyers etc.

Gonna need some more sources to report on this before I fully believe it. If Ornstein pops up with an article it's a done deal.

Right, but I ask what is another realistic option? And the reported Qatari's isn't even the government group, it's a group of individuals. But the alternatives are Sir Jim (who wasn't very realistic as I don't think he's going to shell out for what needs to be done) or a group of Americans similar to FSG or Arsenal with Kroenke, both of whom have been hated by their fanbases.

This is exactly how I view it as well, which is why I just want whichever owners will do best for the club itself.
Expecting a billionaire to be Mother Teresa is just delusional anyways, all of them are shady either outright or behind the scenes.

I am not playing dumb here I just haven't got a good feeling of a state ownership for the club it just won't be the same and oil money just isn't the same. The Glazers haven't been ideal but at least we could agree on hating them. I am not going to say anything on this because I think I won't be capable of cutting my bond to this club. Like you said if they are fans of the club and want the best for the club and the fans who am I to judge.
Not sure why, but did not find that story very credible. Something about the way it quotes the sources. But Qataris always felt most likely. Time will tell.

It'll be hard for all of us to moralise on this as we've all probably raged a plenty about City, Chelsea etc, so now it'll be a big slice of humble pie or leave the club behind I guess.

This will be denied quickly if its not true. The markets reacting the way they have suggests there's something in it.
I don't follow Keegan admitidly, what has he broken in the past?
How quick can this be done and approved by the PL?
Hopefully the PL/UEFA do the right thing and change FFP rules so the new owners are allowed put the 2 billion back it before we are subjected to spending restrictions.
Is this thing with City supposed to be something new or am I missing something? We all know they are massive cheats. We wouldn't have the same problems because our club is fully self-sufficient. All we need is an owner who will clear the debt and pay for the stadium/facilities renovations that we desperately need.

It says group of private Qatari businessmen. How is that worse compared to group of American businessmen. Would not jump to conclusion on this.
