Is he better than Bruno in the 10 though?

Good performance from him today but he doesn't make our strongest XI imo not this season and definitely not after what I assume will be a busy transfer window next season

You need options though
I think he *might* be a better option at 10 than bruno against packed defences, as he's much more patient and less likely to lose the ball. There are all those games where Bruno gets frustrated, Sancho playing like this could be a great alternative!

Sancho in the 10 and bruno on the right might be stronger against backs to the wall style teams, for better retention in the middle of the park and Bruno's crossing. Then Bruno centre and Antony wide right in games where we have to be more compact and defensive and punch on the counter.

It's weird, cos we haven't had this since Sir Alex, but it feels like we might actually now have the options to change our personnel and approach to fit the game without losing quality.

He’s an inside playmaker that can play through the middle or wide, but people expecting him to run at fullbacks just never had a clue what his game is.

He’s basically a City player that plays for United. Once people understand that they’ll realize how good he is
Good way of looking at it. Ten Hag will make it work I’m sure.

Makes sense considering City developed then got rid of him.

I loved when he played in Wout and he showed a nice bit of composure to wait for the run.

Once we get a possession dominant midfielder next season, Jadon will truly shine when the game is played inside the opponents half

I was quite impressed with him today. He made good choices, moved around well to receive the ball and didn't lose the ball unnecessarily. Probably should have scored his second chance as well but also made some good defensive contributions. Seemed to have a spring in his step too.

Without Martial up front, Sancho should play from the middle. He got isolated easily playing on the wing.

Only that the poor team fell apart because we looked like a completely different side in the 2nd 45, in which Sancho had a huge role to play. You make it sound like we were coasting and Sancho just rode the wave. Our play completely transformed and Sancho played a key part. I can see him hitting his straps after this and becoming a central figure in EtH’s plans.
We looked like a different team in the second half because the way we lined up in the first half was pretty bad for us. I was actually hoping to see Sancho on the right side from the start. What I meant by "against the poor side" was to not jump on the train of "Sancho is back" right away, and they are a poor side in general. He had a few of these kinds of games in the past. It is not like he was terrible in every single game he played for us. His inconsistency across games has always been an issue, and a couple of good performances as a sub didn't move the needle either way.

I want him to be more of a killer and really try to hurt opponents every time he is in dangerous areas, a bit like what Rashford has become. He seems a bit of a luxury player and today it looked great but in intense games like Anfield coming up I don't fancy him.

I still don't think he's close to his top form, he looks quite fast but sometimes loses the ball in easy situations.
The biggest change is how ETH utilises Sancho, and the team in general playing on a good level.

Not that I want us to sell him, but I doubt that one good half against Leicester is enough to change peoples' mind.
Obviously, but give him some time, he's reintegrating into the team. There's just no need to be arrogantly impatient.

He still seems rusty in terms of his touch and being alert, but a very encouraging performance. He just has to keep building up his fitness and confidence. I do think the 10 spot or drifting in from the right like bruno does may be better for him long term.

Loved those little give and go’s with Awb on the right hand side. His weight of pass is superb. Really good performance today.

Sancho in the middle and Bruno on the right seems like another good bit of tactics from ETH.
Work rate, defending and stamina of Bruno really helps. Jadon doesn't have the physical ability to charge past players like Rashford from wide positions, needs to be infield, close to others.

Played well today.

So happy for him, you see how much it means to him each time he's out there.

Blew my mind to read he's on the same amount of goals this season as someone like Son despite missing 3 months

Looked good in the middle. It uses his technical ability and one twos around the box. Plus I think he can probably be a reliable way of holding the ball in a way that sometimes Bruno is not.

Maybe this Bruno off the right thing can work. Bruno is far more mature in his play, he finds pockets so in that respect it matters less where you play him, he always impacts the game. Sancho doesn't really have that. When he's not in the game on the wing he goes completely into his shell.

Interesting option anyway. Maybe depends on the opposition because Bruno is a better presser.

What is there to laugh? He didn't start as no 10. He came and did the job against a poor team who was falling apart in the second half. We didn't buy him to be a good sub (even though that is a good thing but I doubt he would be happy with which I pointed out). We bought him to be a good starter which he is not at this moment.
The day that you're arguing he's no business as a backup 10 he comes on and is the ultimate backup 10. See ya later yeah

More goals AND more assists than last season already, in only half the number of starts.

Good point. Add to that Sancho is a decent ball carrier.

Regarding Bruno work rate, I think we need that more on the wing than in midfield (if Eriksen isn't playing).

We've been regularly outplayed when wingers are not working hard enough. See Garnacho today.

You did not say that he should be a backup no 10 in that post. I pointed out that we had a good no. 10. You should probably read the posts and make your points more carefully.

I did not think that this game showed that he was the ultimate back up 10. He was more of right side midfield in the 2 of 4 - 1 - 2 - 3 formation.

Great 45 mins from Sancho and the goal with the pass and move was beautifully struck with his left foot.

But I don't think this is sustainable (him playing centrally and Bruno to the right), we need specialists in the team like Bruno who's is a natural AM in the way he plays with direct passing and runs into the box or even long shots, Antony is specialist RW/Inverted Winger and even though he isn't pulling up any trees if he comes good then that RW is his spot (Antony I mean), Rashford is also natural LW/inside forward who can take on defenders and score goals too and he can do well in CF at times against teams that play highline.

At some point Sancho will have to specialise in something and cement a position within the team, as I don't expect today's second half setup is something permanent, and I still see him as a winger who can run at defenders, create chances and even score goals, he has shown that at BVB and he predominantly played there as a winger so I really hope he can rediscover himself and bring those tantalising Bundesliga performances.

Bruno on the wing is a temporary solution as we need hard working winger there. Sancho probably isn't the answer.

Now Sancho vs Bruno in Central position is a different debate.

I quite like this setup tbh, we look well balanced occupying that right side as Rashford has more space on the left.

That second half. Chance creating machine. Love him in the 10. He's a lot calmer than Bruno and in our team it definitely suits us having Bruno wide and Sancho central. Love his decision making though, composure in tight spaces, ability to link up, unselfishness... He's class in the right environment. Great to see it today. Something that can be absolutely huge for us against the non big sides just give us more creativity and better final ball. Could've had a hat trick of assist today.

I think today was his best match for us. It really feels like he’s better suited for a role as a 10. Great touch and movement in tight spaces.

I'm inclined to agree. He did well today, good to see him having more game time. He scored, and this is critical for me, we need him to develop that cutting edge. He must take watch Rashford, Bruno, Martinez, Casimero.. these players have that instinct to their football....
