Thinking about it as he was hooked when he was he's actually one that can hold his head high. As he does every game he linked the play well and christ who knows maybe it doesn't go as bad as it does if you still have his work rate in the team
No. Just stop.

He has never been good enough, but the team was riding a high of good form, hence ridiculous posts feeding off that high leading to praising a striker who can't score for his work rate and "looking happy to be here" :houllier:

Hope we get Tammy Abraham in the summer, so we can have a younger version of Wout and many more joyous years of this.

Our striker department is a wasteland, he will play simply because he must... Not signing full time striker in years does exactly this to the team.

He’s been completely horrendous in every game I’ve watched him play. Cant pass, can’t control, can’t head, can’t tackle, can’t score.

how is it that because we have no other forward players that prepared to run around a bit that he gets into the team?

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.

Sick of hearing about work rate. That's the bare minimum, they get paid enough for that. One also need a bit of skill though unfortunately.

Please stop pretending he's good and showing some useless stats.
Some people want to die on the same hill as they did with Maguire

Any one that wants him signed on a permanent deal needs either their heads or hard drive checked.

And yet every other player failed with that today
Or is it simply the only thing you can praise Weghorst about so it sticks out in the mind? I’m sure if you look at the half time numbers he was running or pressing nothing substantially more than anyone else

Should be a squad player rotational option at most.
Cannot start in the bigger games.

I appreciate he has his place in the team right now, but I don't get why he just hasn't been rotated at all. We have the option of Rashford up top, and then you can play 3 of Sancho, Garnacho, Bruno, Antony and Pellistri behind. There's been numerous games this season where we've made that exact change at half time or early in the 2nd half and immediately looked better, quicker, more mobile, more fluid.

He has started every single game since he signed, which is mad.

Does his best but generally way out of his depth and no realistic long term option.

Poor striker but even worse as a midfielder. Insane move from EtH.
Made sense when we had players suspended /injured. But now we had Sabitzer an actual offensive midfielder on the bench whilst he was plodding around in midfield. He should go back to being depth for Rashford.

Anyone blaming him for today is simply agenda driven. He was, like you said, the only guy who seemed to give a feck.
It's not just today. He's a fecking striker and people are praising him for wait for it
PRESSING!!!

He really shouldn't be playing every game, it's shocking, I thought he was supposed to be an impact sub, not fundamental to the lineup. Badly missing Martial.

I dont think he should be starting when we have Sabitzer on the bench, but there where people in the match thread claiming we lost because of him today and thats silly.

Other than running about a lot he’s completely pointless. Gives 100% but is simply not good enough, it’s like playing with 10 men at times. Id much rather Rashford through the middle and have another midfielder or wide player on the pitch.

Offers no goal threat but pressing or something

Thing is he wasn't even playing as a striker. He was a 10 and we had a 10 on the bench. Sabitzer is a good presser and is hardworking enough.

Surely today is hardly his fault? At least he looks like he gives a feck.
Not his fault at all. It's ETH's fault for compromising the rest of the team to shoehorn him in.

He should be getting 10 minutes a game to cause a nuisance in the box like you'd expect from a championship standard emergency loan. Not starting as a number 10 at Anfield.

Ronaldo last year, Cavani the year before, Lukaku before that.
They have just been poor/old/both.

Seems like an honest guy who tries his hardest, and I can't blame him for accepting the offer of his life and coming here, but he's not good enough and never will be. Enough with the excuses.

We shipped 6 goals after he went off. Maybe his presence and pressing was useful

He was probably our best player on the day but you can’t carry a forward that offers no attacking threat. And we carried two of them today.

True and tbh that just shows even more how striker department is a wasteland beyond repair at the moment. Zero strikers with classic finishing ability after signing tons of attackers in last 5 years.

Sabitzer can also press and can actually trap a football.

If ETH wanted Wout's pressing the solution was obvious - play him up front. Play Rashford on the left and exploit TAA. Overload the midfield with Casemiro, Fred and Sabitzer.

Playing him at number 10 ruins all possession and counter attacks because he moves like an oil tanker, has a poor touch and no vision. It's not a valid solution to anything.
