The joke is the clowns here slag on De Gea day after day when the problem clearly isn’t De Gea but instead is the nonexistence of a striker in the squad.
4 years of bang average perfomances with costly mistakes, and yet you have people saying that those who critize DDG are clowns

De Gea 1 - 0 Manchester United

Can't believe he didn't win Man of the Match. He dominated the game.

No one else can make the saves he makes though.

At this point, any contract negotiations done by the clubs side should just be them sending him complications of his mistakes with a reduced number after every game.

It's almost like teams managers will be telling their players to take tame shots at him as he's likely to let it under him.

He saves the blasts.

Remember how Taibi had a few a bad games and was binned.

DDG has made way worse mistakes in bigger matches over a number of years and yet he's still not a problem to many.

ETH has his Jim Leighton moment now, has to bin him off for the rest of the season. These mistakes in crucial games just aren't acceptable.

Contract negotiations done by the club side should consist of putting the phone down and never, ever fecking picking it up.

For me it was the start of the 2nd half where he just passed it straight to Antonio I think nearly leading to another goal, and then later on when he drops the ball at the back post leading to another chance. So many simple things he fecks up and puts us under unnecessary pressure
These are honest mistakes that any goalkeeper could make on a bad day (not that they were any less frustrating, mind you), even world class ones. But as a goalkeeper ducking down as the ball flies toward you is a serious symptom of cowardice and mental fragility.

If I was ten Hag I'd make changing De Gea his number 1 priority this summer. I think it's critical to any progress we want to make.

We dont have to sell De Gea, but he cannot be number 1 anymore.

He is the definition of a Hollywood goalkeeper.

Yep. And Eric Steele can put any PR videos , DDG should be done if we all Man Utd guys are trying to turn the page this summer.

Unfortunately, there is no getting around that he is the reason we lost today. He's too limited and is unable to improve the sides of the game that we need from a player in this position (coming for crosses, commanding his box, starting attacks with the ball at his feet) and he is slowly making more mistakes and getting worse at the better side of his game (shot stopping). Time to look to the future with a new number 1.

Are there any other teams in the PL who’s keeper gets as crowded as much as De Gea on corners?
No. Even possession based teams like Brighton, City and Arsenal crowd De Gea on set pieces against us.

Every team, every coach in the league knows he’s bottom of the table standard at defending set pieces.

Dubravka looked pretty ropey in his one and only game, but I cannot imagine how awful Butland and Heaton are is Ten Hag does not countenance just sidelining De Gea at this point. He’s killing this team.

Great servant that he has been, he has to go. He just crumbles in every pressure game. It’s like playing with one hand tied behind your back as you just can’t rely on him to do the basics any more.
How is he a great servant?

The early proming era

11-12, started bad but improved rapidly
12-13, amazing shot stopper
13-14, amazing shot stopper

The good but whiney era

14-15, great shot stopper
15-16, great shot stopper
16-17, great shot stopper
17-18, amazing shot stopper
18-19 good shot stopper, but decline is visible

The clown era;

19-20
20-21
21-22
22-23

Even when he was a great GK he was lacking command in the box, and his passing was always atrocious. If we also take into consideration that for almost 10 years he is the best well paid GK, while never being the best GK in the world, make him a bad servant. He would be a great servant if he was kicked out in 2019.

Needs to go. We are carrying too many light weight mentality players. Doesn't save penalties, doesn't come out for crosses, doesn't have the capacity to pass, loses the ball and this season has been making absolutely pathetic mistakes. All he is, is a stop stopper and we saw how brilliantly he stopped any shots United had at winning the game.

The mistake is one thing and blatantly obvious for everyone to see. Nobody will be more upset than De Gea. What bothers me more is seeing crosses put into the 6 yard box and De Gea glued to his line. Today a ball actually bounced on the ground 2 yards from goal as De Gea just stood there waiting for someone else to win it.

No-one else could do what the likes of Lee Trundle, Matty Taylor or Charlie Adam did, but feck me you don’t judge players on their most outstanding bits of play. You judge them on their floor and the routine football that will be required every minute of every match.

De Gea will always, always, always make brilliant, eye-catching saves. De Gea will also continue to let Manchester United down with his overall sub-par shot-stopping, let alone his wider goalkeeping. He’s a massive net negative.

Before the mistake, there were two crosses he could have easily catched but he let them fly by. This guy is just a coward. Personally I never rated him because those weaknesses have always been there even when he was labeled the best goalkeeper in world. Spain was smart to get rid of him after those high profile errors with them

*5 years.

2018 World Cup - Utterly dreadful for Spain
18/19 - Was 'ok' for most of the season (still a huge downgrade from his previous form) then unbelievably terrible for the final few months and was the main reason we missed out on top 4.
19/20 - Terrible all season. Cost us in two of the three semi's we lost.
20/21 - Terrible all season. Was at fault for the goal that knocked us out of the CL. Ultimately even Ole (loyal to a fault) felt he had to drop him.
21/22 - Was actually quite good for the first half of the season (at least in shot-stopping), but dropped off and was poor in the second half.
22/23 - Has been 'ok' for most games of the season, but he's had way too many individual games spread throughout the season where he's cost us with utterly stupid mistakes.

Even ignoring his pathetic feck-up on the goal, he's the biggest pussy of a goalie I've ever seen. So fecking weak.

Get rid now please. Put John O'Shea in goal, I don't care. Just get fecking rid of him.

He hypes up opposition teams and fans just by existing these days.

A pass back to Ederson or Allison, teams barely try.

A pass back to De Gea and fans get the "OoooooooooooooHHHHHHH" going, players are like sharks who sniff blood because they know he is so shit. All these little things count for making a game more difficult. United players don't want to pass it to him so what should be an easy out ball for a player becomes a panicky clearance up the field giving possession away.

He is destroying this team.

I'll once again say that our defence improved markedly back in 2020/21 for the one prolonged period of time when De Gea was replaced, and that was with Dean Henderson who isn't even all that great.

This thread just goes around in circles and is going to keep doing so for as long as he's here.

Because ultimately he just isn't good enough to be our #1 any more and that isn't going to change. So the criticism will keep on coming.

Like Dave, would like to be saying nice things about him in light of him overtaking Stepney, can't. Sooner he leaves and I can go back to only saying nice things about him the better.

I got shit in one of the previous match threads for saying I knew DDG would end up on his arse when the ball went up in the air. Exactly the same thing happened today, but the foul was even more minimal.

I almost find it more offensive than his errors as I get second hand embarrassment for him.

Going down under literally no contact is worse than the goal he conceded.

If we give him a new contract, the club is not serious.
