therefore between 2012-13 and 2017-18 Nice were at par or even better in 3 seasons out of 7 when compared to the best position INEOS Nice ever was. Meanwhile Lausanne got relegated once prior INEOS and twice under INEOS. They even stayed in 2nd division for 2 seasons under INEOS as well. We're talking here of being owned by a multi national company here with loads of money whose managing clubs in 2 leagues were there is barely any competition in it. If they can't compete against the mighty Lens and Young boys than how does bike man and Bob compete in the richest and most competitive league in the world?
Totally agree
At least give me some sort of metric to indicate?

Twitter is overwhelmingly pro-Qatar. I think it’s safe to assume most social media is.
2/3 of Red Cafe are in support of Sheikh Jassim as well.

The question was hope everything is okay. Any news about Manchester United takeover?

Qatari journalist "Everything is okay"

Nothing to take from this tweet.
Despite the fact he is very well connected, I do not think Majed know anything about the sale at the moment.

Is he though
Yes he is, I have seen him live on the Majles TV-show hundreds of times and he seem to be very well connected in the football world, but I am not sure about the business world. So I am not sure he has enough information about the sale.

Is anything happening at all? There has been nothing but speculations since the 3rd bid.

Agree.

For me, this is the biggest problem with regards the SJR fans. They keep coming out with crap like 'we do it the right way...we don't need pots of money...its not fantasy football...I would rather we were run better...'. They seem happy with mediocrity and challenging for top 4 as opposed to getting United back to being the best club in the world, just because it makes them feel better were not run like City. It's laughable. While we're at it, lets bring rusty old turnstiles back and match day programs for a shilling ffs.

And as for this BS about fantasy football if the Qataris run us, they need to wake the feck up. Football has been fantasy football for nearly a decade, where have this lot been sleeping? The days of running a club like the good ol' days is just emotional attachment thats not rooted in reality anymore. If you want the best players, stadium and win things then I'm afraid to burst their bubble, but that takes money. A lot of money. We've been in fantasy football territory for a long time, City, Madrid, Barca, Liverpool, Chelsea have been throwing money around like sweets for years now and others like Newcastle are gearing up the same way. Spurs built a state of the art stadium and Barca are renovating theirs as are Madrid. Even Wrexham are building a new stadium for crying out loud.

If we want United to compete its going to take a major overhaul and cash. Fact. And we are so far behind with regards investment over the last ten years it's laughable. But hey, as long as they feel good about the way we do things, watching City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea and Spurs all playing fantasy football thats ok, we don't need to be like them. We can sleep easy at night, all tucked up in our United duvets with our posters of Bobby Charlton on the wall, knowing we're doing it the right way.

Feck silverware eh, who needs it...
Very good post.

We've used the rod of oil money against City for a decade. It's now in-built into our psyche. We're likely in fear of being called hypocrites if we welcomed oil money. The fact is the success of City compared to United over the last decade is not even close. You quite rightly state to stay ahead in terms of sporting success with state-of-the-art facilities money, and lots of it is a must.

I spend a lot of money and time going to games. I want to be entertained and my team to be successful if possible. Winning makes my week. If that means a country, company or individual can provide the resources needed all well and good. I am no saint, I drive cars which need oil, wear leather shoes, eat meat and all other aspects of my being use resources which are detrimental to the world. Picking on oil, and gas-producing countries is a bit rich when in reality we don't live in a cave.

Nothing has happened except people tying themselves up in knots for no apparent reason. Some going into meltdown because Ratcliffe might win and others getting on the moral high horse. But in actuality nothing of note has happened since the end of April.

Exactly! I'm starting to think most didn't do the translation on twitter, and just took Berba's drooling emoji over a tweet in arabic, and assumed it was saying something about Qatar's bid being a done dealio.

On the contrary, the way he answers the first question (if everything is ok), while ignoring the second question (about the takeover), probably says a lot.

The fact is we'll all have to make peace with our new overlords (@Wumminator excluded if it is a Qatari). We really can't dictate who the Glazers choose. Just have to wish it gets done and we can move on and have a decent transfer window.

This whole serious point is a misnomer. You either win the race (get United) or you might as well be 5th, 6th or 7th in the process.
But that's not the conversation I was having nor the point contested, I reserve the right to ask why someone would say Qatar aren't serious when, again, they've gone through this process and made a world record bid.

If you think that the journos are just so great at their job and cultivating sources that are meeting them in parking garages at 2am to give inside info, and that they aren't just reporting what they're briefed by the PR teams, then that's on you.

And Qatar did NOT place a world record bid. That's a great example of the PR. The problem with that assertion is that they didn't submit a world record bid. Qatar didn't bid for 100% of the club, because they can't. The Glazers don't own 100%. And according to reports, Ineos option for the full 69% that the Glazers own was more than Qatar's. And yes, that may be Ineos PR. But considering that we haven't gotten much of anything challenging that, that's what we have to go on.

And I never said that they should bid some outrageous sum. But there have been 3 rounds of bidding, and they've likely been told where they need to be, yet still came in with a lower bid. According to some reports, their bids have been lower than Ineos' in at least 2 rounds. That's lowballing.
But I'm not the one making these assertions  Just because something is reported it doesn't mean it's accurate or that it comes from someone even close to knowing, let alone close enough to be labelled PR. This forum, like many others, employs a "reliability" scale for a reason.

The bids as reported are that Qatar are looking to acquire 100% of the club. Ineos valuing it higher, doesn't mean the Qatar bid isn't a world record one. I mean, if I bid £5B for 100% of your house, and Berbaclass bids £2.7B for 50% of it, technically he values your house higher than I do, it doesn't mean my bid isn't a world record one. Also, so you take it for granted that "blow others are of the water" reports are accurate, therefore PR, but the reports that they want 100% of the club aren't? What's up with the selectiveness? I can pull those reports about world record bid

Yes, because they have a valuation for the club, that doesn't mean they aren't serious, especially when said valuation is reportedly higher than what any sporting institution has gone for.

And apparently everything is ok with him personally.

So many people are so concerned with whether he is legit when reporting that he is ok.
Not sure if he dodged the question in the tweet. My guess is that he said that everything is okay with regards to both points raised.

To the hardcore Sir Jim fans all those brown people look the same....
Like a true Brexiteer.
In the spirit of being a knobhead, does that mean the hardcore Qataris think gay people should be executed and women are barely second class citizens?

Or, maybe we could just stop being knobheads? Yeh, let's go with that option.
Is this a football forum or a school playground? Shame on you all.

Lads, I’ve been thinking about it and I’ve decided I’m willing to take Darcie Glazer out for a fish supper (not a euphemism, unless she wants it to be) and a side of her choice if it convinces her to piss off and bring those boiled lizards she calls siblings with her. Just something to mull over. I’ve been told I have the sexual enthusiasm of a much younger man (“he always has sex like it’s his first time”).

The point is that a young Ratcliffe doesn't make that spending and doesn't add that kind of debt to INEOS. The reason he isn't using cash is because he doesn't have the cash, his wealth is tied to owning INEOS shares and he isn't going to sell those shares in order to create cash today.
If ratcliffe wins whats to say the glazers havent done a deal of first refusal of his shares on death or senility
